John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is the New York City airport that offers direct international flights to Puerto Plata on JetBlue Airways. JFK is located in the New York City borough of Queens, approximately 16 miles from downtown Manhattan. Transportation options to get you to the airport are plentiful. A taxi to JFK costs a flat fee of $45 plus tolls and tips. If you prefer to drive to the airport, you can park in the long-term lots for around $18 per day. There are also a number of mass transit options that use the public bus system or the subway. The subway connects to JFK AirTrain, a light rail service that takes passengers from the Howard Beach station in Queens to the airport. The New York City Airporter Bus leaves from Grand Central Station and offers express service to the airport for $15 per person.
Visitors from New York fly into Gregorio Luperón International Airport, 15 minutes east of the center of Puerto Plata. Travelers staying at one of the resorts can arrange free shuttle service from the airport. Bus service is available from the airport for the adventurous. One of the most popular sightseeing trips is a ride on the aerial tramway up to Pico Isabel de Torres at the top of the mountain.
