If you'd like to discover unique, French-Canadian culture in a pristine, cosmopolitan center, you can fly from New York to Montreal in under two hours. Your journey begins when you take a car, taxi, train or bus to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), one of the nation's busiest airports.
During your stay, you can tour the Montreal Botanical Gardens that feature themed areas and an insectarium. Old Montreal is a quaint section in the city that's home to charming shops, unique eating establishments and stunning architecture. The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has several extensive collections from a myriad of time periods, including the Renaissance, Medieval times and modern ages.
You can rent a car and drive yourself to the city when you arrive at Montreal - Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport (YUL), or you can take a taxi, bus or hotel shuttle to your destination. Montreal was discovered in 1535 when Jacques Cartier landed on the island, which was inhabited by Native Americans. Today, the village has developed into a gorgeous city where average temperatures are near 30 degrees F in the winter and around 70 degrees F during the summer months. Fete des Neiges de Montreal, Festival Transameriques and Festival International de Jazz de Montreal are just a sample of the events held in the city each year.
