New York, New York
The largest and busiest metropolitan area in the United States, New York City is the business epicenter of North America and home to one of the most diverse populations in the world. New York City is served by the JFK and LaGuardia airports, as well as the nearby Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey.
JFK International Airport is located in the New York borough of Queens and is the busiest international gateway within the United States. Many direct flights depart daily on Delta and American Airlines between New York and Dallas. AirTrain connects travelers from New York's subway and commuter train systems to JFK. Travelers who travel by cab from Manhattan to JFK pay a flat fare of $45 to reach the airport. JFK has 17,000 parking spaces and offers short-term, long-term and valet parking.
LaGuardia Airport is limited in flying within markets 1,500 miles from its Queens location, marking Dallas as one of its farther destinations. Delta and American Airlines offer daily service between New York LaGuardia and Dallas. Bus service connects New York travelers from the city's subway and rail lines to LaGuardia airport. Like JFK, LaGuardia is easily reached by cab service from Manhattan. Short- and long-term parking is available at airport terminals.
Dallas, Texas
Dallas is one of the largest cities in Texas and home to several Fortune 500 companies, private and public universities and hospital systems that attract patients from around the state. The Golden Triangle region that stretches from Dallas to Denton to Fort Worth is home to more than 6 million residents.
Experience Dallas
One of the hallmarks of the Dallas area is the diversity available to visitors simply by traveling to and through the various cities of the metro area. In Dallas, travelers can experience an urban and urbane environment with trendy clubs, popular cultural attractions and a big city skyline. Less than a half-hour away in partner city Fort Worth, visitors can see "where the West begins" and immerse themselves in Texas history at the Stockyards, Sundance Square and the remnants of former ranches. Dallas experiences hot summers, with temperatures reaching upwards of 90 degrees Fahrenheit from late May through early September. Winters are often mild, with infrequent freezing rain and snow and daily temperatures ranging from the mid-20s to the high 40s.
The primary airport for travelers from New York to Dallas is the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Connecting air travel is also available to smaller Dallas Love Field on Southwest Airlines but is restricted by Wright Amendment regulations on travel distances. A growing mass transportation system can connect travelers from both airports to destinations throughout the DFW region. On the Dallas side, bus and rail service is provided by Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Visitors heading to the western side of the metroplex can use the Trinity Railway Express and the T bus system to reach Fort Worth. Both airports offer rental car options from the major rental car companies.
Dallas and Fort Worth both offer popular zoos and are filled with art, history and natural museums. The Dallas World Aquarium is also popular destination for tourists. Southfork Ranch, home to the famed television show "Dallas," is also a popular tourist destination, located just a half-hour north of downtown Dallas in the town of Parker. The DFW metroplex is home to the Texas Rangers (baseball), Dallas Cowboys (football), Dallas Mavericks (basketball), Dallas Stars (hockey) and FC Dallas (soccer). Dallas is also the home of the State Fair of Texas, held yearly in September and October.
