Departing from Charlotte

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport (5501 R.C. Josh Birmingham Parkway, Charlotte) is located seven miles west of the downtown area with easy access via US-74. U.S. Airways, American Airlines, and United all offer scheduled nonstop service to Dallas from Charlotte. All of the city’s taxi services offer airport transportation, and you can expect the fare from downtown to be roughly $25. A variety of limousine, shuttle, and van services also offer transportation. If you choose to drive yourself to the airport, you’ll be able to choose from three parking options. Expect to pay $7 per day on the Daily East and West decks and the Daily North lot. Four long-term lots charge $5 per day, and curbside valet service is available for $16 per day.

Arriving in Dallas

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (3200 East Airfield Drive, Dallas), is located twenty miles from the city with access via TX-114. If you’re traveling during peak hours, you may find the traffic heavier as you get closer to the downtown area, so plan accordingly. Expect hot summers with temperatures that can soar into the mid-90s. Winters are cool, with temperatures that can range from the high 30s to the high 50s. If you travel during the late spring or early fall, you’ll enjoy warm temperatures while avoiding the summer crowds. Dallas offers a vibrant nightlife, a variety of restaurants, high-end shopping, and plenty of parks to keep outdoor enthusiasts occupied. It also has a collection of diverse neighborhoods that are well worth exploring. The Bishop Arts District is the go-to neighborhood for high-end eateries and boutique shopping, while the Dallas Arts District is in large part responsible for Dallas’ reputation as an arts and culture mecca. Deep Ellum, the Design District, Highland Park, Oak Lawn, and the South Side areas are also worth a visit.
