Fly from Houston to Orlando and explore the most iconic attractions the Sunshine State has to offer. Use Orbitz to plan your trip and you’ll be able to find a choice of flight deals quickly and easily.
Virtually all of the flights that depart Houston for Orlando leave from the city’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport and touch down at Orlando International. This route links two of the busiest airports in the US and is popular among vacationers and business travelers alike.
The main carriers operating between Houston George Bush Intercontinental and Orlando International are Spirit and United. Both airlines offer multiple flights throughout the day.
Some flights also depart for Orlando from William P. Hobby, Houston’s second airport. This route is dominated by Southwest Airlines and departures are scheduled regularly throughout the week.
Average journey time from Houston to Orlando is two hours 10 minutes. This short flight means you can leave Houston in the morning and be in Florida in time for lunch.
On the way back, average journey time is a little longer. You can expect the Orland to Houston leg of your trip to take about two and a half hours. This is due to the prevailing winds your plane will encounter on the way.
Like most aircraft that crisscross the US, your flight will cruise at an altitude of around 35,000 feet. At this height, you’ll be well above the clouds so will be able to enjoy uninterrupted views if you’re traveling during the day.
Once you reach cruising altitude, the temperature outside the plane will plunge to a chilly -60˚F. Inside however, the cabin will be heated and pressurized, ensuring you’re comfortable for the duration of the flight. As the exact temperature inside aircraft can vary, it’s always a good idea to bring a light jacket on board in case you get cold.
As Orlando International is one of the busiest airports in the US, it offers a wide selection of domestic and international departures. Both premium carriers and low cost airlines serve the airport, giving you a great choice of routes and airfares.
If you’re planning on staying in Orlando for your vacation, you can continue your journey from the airport by bus, taxi or hire car. Many of the larger hotels and resorts offer free shuttle services to and from Orlando International. Check with your accommodation before you fly to see what’s on offer.
Plan your Orlando adventure with Orbitz and spend your next vacation exploring the city’s world famous attractions.
Florida is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the US. If you want to see a little more of the state’s vibrant cities and unique landscapes, try one of these popular routes.
