Got in early, Checked in early, left the bags and went to visit World Trade One . room was available at 2 PM.
It was a short 24 hour trip to New York , so essentially room was needed just ro sleep in it, It was great, the view from the second highest floor in hotel was nice .

Great little place 10 minutes from Central park, and an easy Subway ride to Times Square! If you want a nice, clean, safe place to hang your hat at night while visiting Manhattan (for a great price), come here! It was so nice to walk into a beautiful old building where the hard wood hadn't been landlord-special'd, and we enjoyed the good eats further down Amsterdam.
The parking is actually a block over, so be prepared to be paused in traffic to unload, or just park and walk your bags over when you check in.
My only note is that our bed was comically loud and squeaky, you could adjust your leg or roll over and the whole thing would creak. My husband and I were on our honeymoon, and we cracked plenty of jokes about it, lol.

Location is the number one reason to stay here. Right across from Central Park. BUT you don't actually get a view of the park unless you book a room on a higher floor on the west side (5th Ave side) or corner room (called Park View). We stayed in an Exec King Suite on the 5th floor because we wanted a sitting area separate from the bedroom. No view whatsoever from the windows; just the adjacent building. Also, there isn't anywhere in the hotel - a bar, a sitting room, even a window - that you can access to see the Central Park view. If the view is important to you, you have to book the right room.
There were a few small details that were less than ideal; not dealbreakers but not what I expected for a luxury hotel that cost us $1000/night:
no coffee maker in the room - we had to call down and have them bring us one
several electrical outlets didn't work
no usb charging ports anywhere (it is an old hotel but still)
we used the wine glasses from the cabinet and although housekeeping removed them the next day, they weren't replaced
no room in the mini-frig for personal items
took a very long time to get hot water out of the bathroom and shower faucets
bathrobes were on the small side
if you want to order in food from other establishments, the delivery person isn't allowed to bring it to your room; they have to leave it with concierge who then sends someone up to your room with it
All in all, we wouldn't stay here again.
