When you’re ready to book your London adventure, find huge discounts and savings on travel at Orbitz.com. Home to NFL and MLB teams, Baltimore seems far removed from the grandeur of London. Take in a musical at one of the West End’s theaters, shop at the world-famous Portobello Road market, or tour Buckingham Palace.
Travelers leaving Baltimore will fly from Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), located approximately ten miles south of downtown Baltimore. The airport offers affordable rates on over eleven thousand covered parking spaces. BWI Airport Taxi offers round-the-clock service to the terminals, as does the Maryland Transport Authority, which operates regular bus services. Several bars and eateries offer preflight drinks, meals, and snacks.
Visitors flying into London will arrive at one of four airports: Heathrow (fourteen miles from the city center), Gatwick (twenty-four miles), Stansted (forty-eight miles), or London City (five miles). All four airports are served by a variety of affordable public transport options and taxis. You may also decide to rent a car from one of several car rental companies. Many travelers to London are stunned by the variety and quality of restaurants. Shopping is a must, as London boasts some of the most-famous and exclusive shops in the world, such as Harrods and Selfridges. London has a moderate climate, only reaching averages of seventy-four degrees Fahrenheit in July and thirty-five degrees in January. October is the rainiest month to visit, with an average twenty-three days of precipitation, while August is the driest, with only sixteen. Be sure to buy an umbrella from one of London’s many boutique shops. Because of the wet climate, London offers many indoor activities, such as touring the Tower of London or meeting the stars at Madame Tussauds famous waxwork museum.
