Disappointing and HOT Stay — Not the “Retreat” AdvertisedUnfortunately, our experience at this property did not come close to what I would expect from a home advertised as a “retreat.” I did communicate with the host during our stay to give them an opportunity to fix/resolve the issues (16 messages). At one point it felt like I was receiving responses from a BOT, which I also asked about…this was a frustrating and uncomfortable stay.When we arrived during the summer, the temperature inside the home was a miserable 90 degrees! It took more than nine hours for the house to cool to a reasonably comfortable temperature. Even after that, the cooling system was a constant issue throughout our stay. Adequate air conditioning in San Diego during the summer should be a basic expectation for any vacation rental.The home was also very poorly stocked. There was no laundry detergent provided—not even a small starter supply. I contacted the host and was told it should have been there, but it was never provided. The kitchen was surprisingly sparse as well. There was not even a basic serving or mixing bowl available to make something as simple as a salad. There was a spice rack, yet no salt or pepper. When I asked about that, I was told those items were “not part of the amenities.”The quality of the towels and single-ply toilet paper also felt much more consistent with a budget motel. Positives- location to SDSU, updated decor, 4 bdrms, garage parking. Has potential.
