Food was average, had to make reservations to any of the restaurants that were not buffets and was nearly impossible to get a reservation. Room set up was halfway done no hand towels, floor mat, 2 tissues in box. If you’re looking for just hanging by the pool at a good price then this is the place. If looking for more of an experience I would suggest one of the other xcaret hotels. Check in was extremely slow waited for over an hour in a line to get checked in. You have to schedule your own transportation from the airport to hotel but was easy to get a cab outside the hotel to go into town.

We had an early flight so we arrived before check in time. (We knew that we had to wait, so that was not an issue). Upon arrival, we couldn’t use the facilities until after 11AM. If we wanted to use the facilities it was an extra $15 per person. Right before 11 AM we were called so they could put our bracelets on and we could make use of the facilities. We were given keys to get towels at the pools and beach are. (Don’t lose the keys otherwise at check out you have to pay an extra $20). Once we went back to the lobby a couple of hours later we were given our rooms. Rooms (suites were big). Note 6 suites were booked… we all wanted to stay in the same building but we couldn’t . I had sent out emails and spoke to management to make sure that at least my rooms (2) were in the same building. After back and forth and 2 hours my two rooms were in the same building but different floors. My sister and parents were on a separate building and my brother and friends were on a different building. My other brother ended up on a different building. Anyway as far as reservations for restaurants once you get your room keys immediately go adjacent to the lobby to make dinner reservations. If you stay 4 nights you can only select 2 restaurants for dinner, 7 nights 4 reservations. ( I didn’t like that we couldn’t make reservations for every single night of our stay. Other than that it was a pleasant experience the food was ok. Not the best, unless you go to a specialty restaurant.

The property grounds were absolutely beautiful but the check-in was absolutely terrible. It was extremely time consuming and they separated my rooms even though I had one confirmation for 2 rooms. Their excuse was that orbitz didn't communicate any notes to them. The food could improve as it lacks flavor. The lobby staff is not helpful and they need to have more workers to assist during busy hours.

We despised the fact that the timeshares were being pushed at every area in the resort. Even at the concierge leading into our rooms! Multiple times daily we were pestered to sit down and take a tour for a “Promotion”. Food was great with a lot of options. Activities for kids were good with a listed itinerary along with adult options. The only addition to the food options that my family felt was lacking was a snack option to bring to your room. When you’re hungry and slowing down in the evening after dinner you don’t want to leave your room to go sit for a meal, a granola bar or some oranges from a snack bar would be wonderful. Overall we were pleased with our vacation but will not return due to the timeshare nonsense at the Occidental.

The staff was extremely friendly. We always felt very welcomed. They always made sure they took care of our needs. The food was good, especially pacos tacos. We visited xplore park, which was only six minutes from the resort and had the most memorable time!!

It is a beautiful hotel, great views, clean rooms but food needs improvements, we went to bed with out eating multiple days due to lack of quality and variety of food, and the only available snack restaurant that is open after 7pm (thats offer tacos and pizza called "Paco Taco"), it was too crowded of people with wait times of over 2hrs. Also, restaurant requieres to wear pants or jeans to eat. As I did not bring panta or jeans on my tropical trip, I was not allowed to make reservations to eat at restaurants, only at the hotel buffet, wish as mentioned before, there were no quality or viariety of food.

I didn’t like I book for 2 adults and 1 child which was 11 at the time of booking but they put I had and infant at 1 years old and they charge me 755 dollars and I booked through Expedia I think this is a scam because they did it to another family
