Safe was broken, Maintenance guy Michael very efficient to try to fix it numerous times. Upon check in , we never received wrist bands, were given 4 room keys and no towel cards. Staff acted as if it was our error and were very rude. We would not be "sneaking on " to that resort. There was no availability in any of the restaurants for our entire stay. We were "awarded" dinner reservations to compensate for Riu's staff mistakes. The breakfast and dinner buffets were very good. There is only one option for nighttime cocktails- the theater, which doesn't have any windows or open air. There is no other option for a cocktail other than the pool bar, which closes at 6pm. Beach was beautiful, but unfortunately it was too windy to enjoy. Water was beautiful but too dangerous to get into. That, of course, is not the resort's fault, just something to keep in mind when booking at beginning of hurricane season. I have stayed at a RIU in both Puerto Vallarta and Cancun that were MUCH larger and nicer.

Staff was very nice and attentive. Buffet food was great! Never got bored with the selections, changed everyday. Bartenders were funny and interactive with guests. Plenty of beach chair space with umbrellas…staff set them up on demand.

The service was exceptional!!! My complaint is about the reservations to the restaurants. I paid a lot of money to stay here to enjoy all the things offered and this was my birthday trip I took solo and could not get a reservation for any of the restaurants offered!! I was stuck with buffets all trip long and the jerk stand. Highly disappointed!!!!!! Also the hot tub was not available it was out of service being worked on they said. I do not stay at hotels that don’t offer a hot tub so this will be my first and last time at this resort. Also this is suppose to be a home away from home… we should be able to control heat in our rooms. I froze all trip!!!! I’m anemic and always cold. The heat is my friend. When it’s in the low 60s wind blowing crazy…. I need HEAT!!! I was highly disappointed about that as well!!! I was given an extra blanket but that is so thin it does nothing. Do better!! Thanks

The room we were checked in was smelling. The a/c was so noisy that we called front desk and complained . The mechanic upon inspection reported to change the room. We were moved to another room nothing different. Next morning we reported to manager who paid no attention about our problems. The food is horrible and can’t eat . It is cold like from refrigerator. We even complained to the staff and they said it is as is. No food warmers. We spoke with many guests and all had same opinion. I don’t understand how people manage to stay for so many days. I found difficult to spend another day.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food at the Steakhouse was bey good; however, reservations to all restaurants were limited. We were there 6 nights and could only get into the Steakhouse once. Entertainment in the evening was nonexistent. The only area was a small lounge that was crowded every night. The pools and outside bar closed everyday at 6. Much of that area could be used for outdoor evening activities, such as movies, etc. The locals trying to sell drinks were very persistent, annoying, and rude. One man approached us (2 ladies) numerous times a day and made sexual comments. He made us very uncomfortable. Also we witnessed competing locals trying to rent jet skis get into a heated confrontation right in the middle of vacationers laying out. There needs to be more resort monitoring on the beach.

Clean rooms, beach, taxi’s close by, restaurants were great, staff is attentive. Rooms could use more outlets/charging stations.

the resort is ok needs some updating. Staff is friendly enough but don't really go out of their way to make friends or conversation. Seem to choose who they like. We had some cooler weather and rain and there isnt anything going on if that happens. Cleanliness of rooms needs help. Bed was comfortable and shower is great.

It’s always a great time staying at Riu. The staff was excellent and address everything I needed. I plan on staying there when I return. Thank you for the great service
