This is simply one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. Up there with the best of them for sure. The food, the rooms, the service. All spot on and befitting of the perfect location. When I retire I’d like to move in! By the way, the artist who did the paintings in the lobby lives locally. I went and bought one of her paintings. Beautiful.
We booked this trip for my 40th birthday back in September 2017. When we booked this trip it was a One and Oy Resort. My friend flew all the way over from Germany for this celebration. Upon checking in we were given our room that we had upgraded to an ocean view. The room was fantastic. The bell boy told us our butler would be over to explain to us the amenities in the room. Butler never arrived, ever. The following day we tracked down a housekeeper to explain to us how to use the coffee machine. We went out to the pool for the day to return to our room and order room service. The room service menu was gone, the phone was gone, anything with the One and Only logo on it was gone. Apparently as luck would have it the hotel changed ownership on the second day of our stay. Not one person mentioned this at booking or checking in. It was only after listening to other people at the pool did I learn that there was a nightly champagne / chocolate strawberry service by the butler, water bottles were in each room and robes. We had NONE of these. We learned the hard way that drinking the tap water wasn’t a good idea. ( so sick we got by day 3) I booked a manicure at the spa and was told it would take too long and they could paint over my existing polish for $40! I left a sweater there and have been trying to get it back since the moment I left the hotel. No one ever gets back to me. It’s infuriating knowing we booked a one and only resort which turned into a four seasons and no one told us, the staff was just as confused. The service was horrendous. 45 minutes to get lunch at an empty restaurant. Oh I failed to mention the $45 mimosas. FORTY FIVE DOLLARS FOR ONE BADLY MADE DRINK. Awful. I want a do over.
I’ve been to the Ocean Club every year for the past decade. I’ve always enjoyed this place tremendously, it’s very reclusive, private, extremely high-end, very convenient to get to and just plain gorgeous. The past two trips however have been a little bit of lower quality mostly due to the noise. It seemed that the staff was wondering around the property and making noise in all odd hours. So I wasn’t really surprised when I found out that Ocean Club lost its One & Only status and was purchased by Four Seasons. Hopefully now the Four Seasons management will be able to bring it to their extremely high standard. Other than that, the hotel is still spectacular. Hotel’s restaurant - John George’s Dune - is still fantastic. The rooms are comfortable and gorgeous. And staff overall is very friendly and helpful. I fully intend to be coming back every year.
We just returned from 4 nights at the Ocean Club which happened to overlap with the transition from One & Only management to Four Seasons management. The transition was seamless and the new Four Seasons management is well on their way to incorporating it into the Four Seasons family. With regard to our stay, it was excellent. Beautifully appointed room, well kept grounds, strong and capable staff and a great restaurant in Dune. We had one minor issue (noise from new staff training) which the GM, Dale, handled swiftly and to our complete satisfaction. if you're looking for a much more sophisticated alternative to Atlantis, you'll be happy here. Highly recommended.
My Husband and I just completed four days at the Ocean Club which became a Four Season property our second day here. The Property and Grounds are beautiful, service was inconsistent. We had a great dinner at Dune ( we have eaten there before).Breakfast was not as good. The food was good but very expensive the service in general was awful. We waited one day over forty minutes for our breakfast to arrive. Two other days we didn’t get our complete order. Although the Butler was nice we hardly ever saw him. The few things we asked him to do, we had to follow up on three times in general the staff are very friendly and gracious but there were a few that were disappointing. We have stayed at many Four Seasons properties but this one did not quite measure up yet. Hopefully things will improve once they are fully transitioned.
The Ocean Club is an incredible property, with even better service. We stayed here over the Thanksgiving week and enjoyed the experience. However, let's just be honest. There is no way that a standard hotel room, in any location, is really worth $1,300 per night. Most Americans spend less than that amount on their rent for a full month. Most people in the world can feed their families for less than that amount for an entire year. Incredible beachfront properties around the globe, with better rooms, and more updated amenities, can be found for half of the price. (Yes, you can get incredible hotel rooms for $650 a night). I would recommend this hotel to anyone who lights their cigars with twenty dollar bills, and values the non-Atlantis quiet over value. The restaurants are good but not life changing and the pools are also nice but not incredible compared to peer properties. It appears in the news that the One and Only will soon be rebranded to a Four Seasons property. It's unclear if that will result in major changes, but Four Seasons does seem to set the bar for service and their prices are usually more reasonable than One and Only. Let's hope for an improvement, and let's hope that they retain most of the friendly staff.
Stunning location, great golf and amazing rooms. If you want to stay clear from Atlantis madness - then it's the perfect escape. The location of hotel is perfect, with close proximity to golf, beach and shopping in the city.
We are very disappointed on the overall experience we have at one and only ocean club. We have not been necessarily welcome as we are use too when we book trough the American Express fine hotel, no early check in, no upgrade and room is not at all at the standard someone should expect for the price and the group. Everything is very dated specially bathroom and overall appearance of the room water dripping from the clim, entrance door floor full of stain. Restaurant is a rip off, very boring menu very slowwwwwww service, everyone is nice but nothing else. Concierge, swimming pool, restaurant except from the Versailles pool restaurant staff. There is only one restaurant the other are the pool one with more or less same menu than at Dune restaurant. We have been to one only in Dubai, Maldives and Mexico and experience was totally different. Will I go back to ocean club certainly not, will I recommend it to friends certainly not ! Do not think about amenities : no film on demand no dvd no buffet breakfast no heated pool and water is cold
A huge thank you to the One & Only Ocean Club for a truly amazing, truly relaxing 40th anniversary get away. Special thanks to Garrill Johnson for his assistance with our reservation. Thank you to David, our butler who made himself available to us. Thank you to Chavez in the Versailles Terrace Bar for a very enjoyable sunday afternoon of watching and talking football...GO PATRIOTS!! Thank you to housekeeping for keeping our room clean and well stocked. Thank you to beach staff, pool staff and waitstaff. You are all very pleasant and professional. All of you contributed to making our holiday wonderful! Restaurants, pools, beach and beautiful room facing the ocean. Perfect! I highly recommend the One & Only and will definitely book with them again in the future.
Just the best place to unwind on the beach and hear the waves and not people all over you. The service by our Butler Prince was the best . The spa was very nice for massages . The view from my room was ocean view and the Yoga offered every morning was a great way to start the day
