Freehand is an excellent choice for travelers who love the vibrant areas of downtown Los Angeles. The accomodations were so comfortable and the service was great. It's also a short walk from the metro station. Freehand's also surrounded by stores, bars and restaurants, including ones on the property. There's just so much to do and see. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Great location near food, stores, and events. Lobby is nice. I stayed in the hostel room as this place offers dormitory and single room. The bunk beds make a lot of noise and everyone will hear and feel it.

When in L.A the freehand is my go to. To compliment the amenities are the vibes and those are further complemented by the staff both up front and the hard working team that cleans the rooms and grounds behind the scenes. Provided your respectful the staff will be courteous in an Angelino way kinda serious yet they take care of their Guests! Thank you Guys!

Actually liked this place when we came in January 2025 so decided to stay again in June 2025. Best shower ever, promise! The water pressure is amazing! Although the property is older and the area isn’t great (but that’s downtown for you), the rooms are clean and we love the retro vibe. Great pastry shop (Paris Baguette) and burger place (Shake Shake) in the same building, and there is 1 to 2 taco trucks that park downstairs across the street every night and open till late, those tacos were bomb! CUTE rooftop bar and pool too! Maybe my biggest complaint is that it always smells like weed right outside the elevators on the lobby floor, people smoke right outside the door. And not that I can really complain about this but they put us in the smallest room on property (we confirmed by looking at the fire escape floor plans in the back our room door) so we were a little cramped this time compared to the last. Overall, good stay, would book again.

Was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at regardless of price. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean room, comfy bed, amazing views. Would highly recommend.
