Good but could’ve been great.

Great location. Blissfully quiet even though only a few metres away from Whitehall. Marvellous staff. Good room although the sink was chipped and the plug didn’t work properly. Lovely bar with cocktails. Breakfast was nice but overpriced. One issue my wife always complains about is the lack of a plug socket close to a mirror to plug in a hair dryer.

enjoyed our two nights in the sherlock suite (has 5 sherlock suites) with a very comfy bed, nice living room (small furniture) and great roomy marbled bathroom with tub and separate shower. room 118 has no view and feels like you're in a basement suite, but have to remember it was a police station...not a purpose built hotel at the beginning. great staff and great people at the bar, especially the portuguese bartender that was very friendly and had a good chat. the lobby has great art and artifacts from the police dating back decades on display as well

Noisy aircon disturbs sleep.

The Great Scotland Yard is a wonderful building in a great location. The decor is good, the staff polite and our room was large, clean and comfortable. However, if you are a light sleeper then I would recommend that you avoid this hotel. The ventilation system in our room hummed and rattled whilst switched on and, even when switched off, there was an almost continuous background hum. We raised this with reception after the first night and, after they discussed with engineering, we were told that it was normal and like that in all of the rooms. The recording I took of the noise is most definitely not normal nor is being kept awake by background noise. Add to this a distinctly average breakfast experience (our booking included breakfast but that piece of information was not communicated between hotels.com and the property) and we would not choose to stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The staff were truly wonderful—friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. They took our luggage and stored it securely until our room was ready, which made our arrival stress-free. The bar area in the hotel was a great spot to relax, with a comfortable atmosphere. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk to the city center. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the city!

We had an amazing stay. Stopped her overnight on the way to another destination after a long flight. The room was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We would have stayed longer if we had known what a great experience this would be.

Room was clean and just ok- underwhelming for the price. Thought breakfast was included but wasn’t and this was surprising considering the very expensive rate. Dinner (room service) food was very basic which again surprising considering the high cost and it being a 5 star hotel. Cost of breakfast again very high and slow service despite advising we had to be at an event. The hotel were unable to facilitate twin room despite requesting when booking and a couple of times after which was unfortunate. Disappointed that there was not even a glass in the room in order to drink water. Have stayed in much higher standard hotels. The staff were however friendly and welcoming, particularly the lady who checked us in and the lady who delivered room service. good location but given the cost I didn’t find the hotel worth this.
