A Perfect Escape in Hakone – Highly Recommend! I had a wonderful stay at Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu and couldn't be more pleased with the experience. The facilities were top-notch—relaxing, clean, and thoughtfully designed to blend beautifully with the natural surroundings. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, always going the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. The room was absolutely stunning, with elegant decor and breathtaking views that made every moment feel special. I left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning my next visit. The hotel’s highlight is its onsen, especially the one on the 5th floor! The overall service is good, there is live music, free snacks and ice cream in the lobby area. The ground floor bar is nice too. Given the remoteness of the area, an on site gym would have been good. The buffet dinner wasn’t too bad but it felt like quantity over quality.

This was our favorite stay of our whole trip through Japan. It was a much needed slow paced and relaxing day after so much time exploring other Japanese cities mostly by foot. The onsen in our room was heavenly, especially with the cool weather and the gorgeous view. The buffet dinner and breakfast were both top notch. The bed was so comfortable and the entire room was so well appointed and lovely. The staff we so friendly and spoke English very well, which was so helpful with our limited Japanese skills. We already can’t wait to go back.

Superb!

An amazing experience could not fault the food or the service absolutely superb felt like royalty for the day.The only fault I could give to this place is that it was a bit pricey but was worth it overall. A great place to relax and escape the busy and hectic cities of Japan. Wish we could of stayed longer

It was ok

The food at the buffet was awful. The rooms weren’t as clean and updated as expected for the price and five star rating. The outdoor private onsen in room is nice but most of the view is cut off by the wood slats and there is a lot of noise from the front of the buiding (eg cars and people).
