Hotel Catedral
"You need to see this gem in the hearth of Mexico City. A hotel sitting on top of the Ruins of an Aztec temple. No gimmicks! It's real. I understand everyone looks for familiar hotel brands (Hilton, Marriot...) but you are cheating yourself out of a great experience. At first I was a bit worried because of what the entrance looks like. Its small and old looking. It's on purpose to preserve the charm of the city and historic site. Once you enter you are greeted by an extensive very modern looking hotel (kind of like in New York). The Hotel is in the hearth of the city where you can walk to the zocalo, Museum of Templo Mayor, and the Cathedral. If you want to go further out into the city, just take a taxi, with either short trip service, hourly services, or whole day excursion with taxis going as far as the ruins of Tehotihuacan. Staff is friendly, helpful and very courteaous. The Hotel is super clean. The food is good(not 5 star great). We had breakfast at the hotel every morning. Tip: ask for breakfast made on demand instead of the warm buffette. But the fruit, cheese , bread, etc. provided is of great quality. I only say its good not great because the warm buffette was a bit on the cold side. The rooms were clean and modern (even for U.S. standards). My only gripe is that the bathroom sliding door did not close fully as it was on an angle and did not close properly, leaving a small gap on the bottom corner."
