This might be the best hotel I have stayed at in my life, to date. It sounds like they were just opening, but their service was amazing. twice-daily turn down service, a bottle of wine left for us, whenever we sat down someone would bring us a cold glass of water. The pool was new and pristine, with ...
This is a good hotel with great breakfast. However, the room has no clock, double bed rooms only have small single beds, and there is no swimming pool, so it cannot be rated as a four star hotel by American hotel standards. Great walking distance to all attractions such as Acropolis, Parthenon, temples, ...

Friendly staff, comfortable room, good basic breakfast
We chose this hotel because I was familiar with Intercontinental in other parts of the world, because it was close to the main monuments and because they had a family room available. We were traveling with our 21 and 17 year old kids and weren't quite ready to get two rooms yet. We booked a family room and upon check in were pleasantly surprised to learn that we had been upgraded to an even larger family room with a balcony that offered beautiful partial view of the Parthenon. The hotel itself was beautiful, modern, well maintained and had professional friendly staff willing to help you with every detail. Our room was very clean and well equipped. There was a free shuttle to and from the monuments, syntagma square, etc and the drivers were accommodating (i.e. they would try to get you closer to your destination if on the general route). I am a rewards member of this hotel group so did not have to pay for wifi - would recommend signing up before you leave home to avoid charges. Our only complaint was the cost of food in the hotel - but after we paid 7-8 euros each for a coffee and juice - we just avoided the hotel. we used the in room equipment and then frequented the local restaurants/coffee shop in the area. Other than that minor irritation (pretty much the same with most hotels), the Intercontinetal exceeded our expectations.... (sorry we did not take photos of the room/premises).
Hotel truly took care of you. They wanted you fully informed. Honest about how and where to avoid tourist traps and cost. Anything I needed, even packed me lunch because I was leaving before the free breakfast opened. This will be my Athens spot for the future.
Amazing rooftop bar, excellent breakfast. Room old air conditioner did not work well, stale air. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. I would recommend to friends.
