I am still staying here but so fed up that had to place review now (reception aware of issues). I am staying in a so-called "superior room" on 4th floor and my issues are: 1-by having hard flooring i can hear every movement from the room above = bad sleep 2-no decent black out curtains-i have been waking up on the hour from 1-2am thinking its time to rise because my room is so bright =more bad sleep 3-smoking: smoking from other rooms have permeated my room at night and reception did not take it seriously that it caused me to have an asthma attack on 2nd night.I did escalate but no solution found 4-the bathroom of my superior room has not been renovated (i thought all superior rooms were 100% renovated?) and is tired and i had to get hotel handyman out to fix shower. 5-no furniture on balconies so why have a balcony? I will compliment the hotel on their food - both breakfast and room service are excellent. Lack of sleep has affected my work trip so will not stay here again
Personnel never delivered any promise made- I tried to change rooms from detached to interconnected (we travelled with kids) which I was promised that it will be possible after 3 days. On 3rd day when asking front desk where is my room change I learned that it was never promised or someone made a mistake. Location is on a corner of two busy roads and roundabout which makes rooms very loud and noisy Hotel is surrounded by partially abandoned partially destroyed buildings which look awfull. Better find something else in Athens.
Very friendly staff. The breakfast was great. Amazing view from the top floor. Walking distance to the Metro station. Clean rooms. Be sure you get the renovated rooms. Thank you for the upgrade. The suite was wonderful.
Our hotels were booked through the Neckermann Reisen, a Belgian/Dutch traveling company. My parents treated us with a seven night car tour of Greece. They had chosen the "four star hotel" option. In every hotel we stayed, we had great to very decent rooms. We should have stayed at the Stanley on the first day of our stay but because it was full, we ended up in the Novus Hotel, right around the corner, which was a truly wonderful and memorable experience. We were looking forward to our Stanley stay. So here we arrived, around 18:30, tired after a 4 hours trip. This is what we received: Room 156: - instead of the 2 beds we should have received there was one, and one of its sides was against the wall. - the bathroom was so tiny that I touched the wall when I sat on the toilet seat. - a tiny shower, where the light curtain kept sticking to me when the water was turned on. - a humming sound from the electric box. - the door to the tiny terrace did not open. - wall paper was peeling from above the lamp. To be fair, I did not request to be changed to a different room, I had just asked if the hotel was full and was told it was. On the plus side, the breakfast was good and the staff friendly. When I let Dimitris at the front desk know that I would put a review on TripAdvisor and let Nekermann know that this was not a four star experience, I also asked to speak to a manager. He responded kindly and told me to wait. There were no manager available to talk to me but Kostas, who was in charge of the front desk explained: "Part of the hotel was renovated and part of it still needs to be. The travel agents don't always know that they should specify the rooms they expect their clients to stay in". Kostas was kind and apologetic and wave the 12 euro fee for the parking saying "this is the least we can do". Go to Novus Hotel or make sure you visit your room if you are staying at the Stanley
close to city centre, nice room and rooftop pool and restaurant was amazing ! we had room for 3. in room air-con. clean room and en suit. amazing view of acropolis from roof top. Excellent location and excellent hotel itself.
Some parts of the hotel, like the lobby and pool area, are a bit tired looking but if you book one of the renovated rooms you have nothing to worry about. We stayed in room 408 which was very pleasant and spacious. Staff was kind and helpful. Good wifi. Good airconditioning. There was even a balcony but strangely it had no furniture so we didn't use it. A full body length mirror in the room would be a nice addition. I loved that there was a coffee and tea set in the room as well as complimentary wine, water, beer and soft drinks. Breakfast also surprisingly good, with nice vegan options like potatos, mushrooms, fresh fruits and vegetables, a variety of olives, breads, jams, cornflakes and soy, rice and oat milks. We loved that there are fresh herbs and tomatoes growing on the roof of the hotel! A big plus is the Bread Factory right outside the hotel which is open 24/7, we kept coming back for their vegan spinach pie. The hotel isn't right in the center but only about a 15 minutes walk to it. Better to take the main streets as some of the smaller ones can get a bit scary. On our last day we left our luggage in storage after checking out, spent the day out, and used the fitness center showers to freshen up before heading to the airport, so that was a big plus too.
Stay at this hotel over a weekend in Athens, very centrally located if you want to be around the centre. The area looks slightly dodgy and run down but didn't find it dangerous. I found the hotel overall quite underwhelming. There was nothing I couldn't say was wrong, the staff were great, rooms were clean, just the decor was very much like a travel lodge, and for someone who likes hotels for the experience and not just as a utility, I felt quite disappointed as the rooms felt more like a travel lodge. Also can be quite noisy if you are on the lower floor. My one complaint was the price they charged for the rooms you got weren't really worth it. This is a nicer budget hotel for a quick stay, don't plan your honeymoon here.
We booked this hotel at the last minute and should have taken more time to read reviews. The room we were given was right beside a small conference going on at the hotel so we had to squeeze past attendees gathered around the snack table set up outside. The bathroom had two doors - one to our room and the other to the hallway. The bathroom light ran on a motion sensor that would randomly turn on in the middle of the night. The room was nothing like the website - it seemed more like a temporary space somehow. Staff were banging on things and being really loud in the morning. Rooftop pool was OK, very small but a nice enough patio.
I totally disliked the room as it was so small. There was hardly any space to move around after you have kept your luggages. I had booked this hotel after seeing the photographs provided here. But it was totally misleading. Not recommended at all as the pictures are misleading. Location wise although a good one.....
We were disappointed with this hotel and found the photos to be misleading. The room was tiny and the rooftop and pool were not as depicted. The room was clean but there were no tea/coffee making facilities. They did supply a jug upon request though we were told that it is not the norm...in my personal experience I have never had a hotel room which doesn't have this facility. I also did not find it located in a particularly handy position to get around Athens. Staying here was a disappointing end to a fabulous 5 week stay in Greece in accommodation that was always delightful and above average, though not expensive.
