I recently stayed at the Stanley and was surprised how good it was. The position of the hotel entrance is not the best, but once inside you are greeted by very friendly and helpful front desk staff. The room I was given was on the sixth floor overlooking the square but with the double glazing, I couldn't hear any traffic noise at all. The breakfast is very good with a large choice, from cereal's, eggs, sausage, bacon, cheese, ham, toast, coffee, Juice, pastries, tea and coffee. If you can't find something to suit your taste here, consult a doctor! The housekeepers are very good and very helpful. I didn't use the roof restaurant but I did use the bar which has spectacular views of the Acropolis and looks to be a very good bar indeed, however, when I visited it was an evening that Greece played football against Croatia and unfortunately there were a group very loud Croatians who were singing and shouting in their own language, which put me off a bit. Of course this was not the hotels fault but one of the bar tenders could have asked them to be a little quieter. As Croatia were winning, perhaps they decided to say nothing for fear of it appearing to be sour grapes. I hope that this review does not come across as a bad review because it isn't. The is a very nice hotel for business or pleasure, vey conveniently next to the Metro and five minutes from Sytagma Square for the tomb of the unknown soldier, Parliament and the shopping areas of central Athens. All in all, a very good hotel offering quality at competitive pricing and I will return.
Our stay was very pleasant. The staff was very helpful and upgraded us upon check in to a superior room for free. The minibar in our room included complimentary water, local beer and one red wine. The bed was very comfortable. A lot of plugs available for charging which is in many hotels not a given. The room was very clean. Only negative point is that the shower is too small. We are all slim individuals but the shower space is just too tiny. So do consider this especially when you know you need more space. The shower curtain will definitely stick on your skin while showering and hitting your elbows will also be likely. Other than that, we loved the hotel. Especially the location at the kastrinaki square, right in front of te meteo sttion is awesome! You are well connected to the entire city. Most tourist spots are really close by with the metro. We ate at the rooftop restaurant of the hotel. The view was absolutely superb and we loved the food! The prices are very reasonable and the waitstaff were extremely attentive and polite. Be aware of pickpockets in Athens though! While visiting Agora, our friend’s passport was stolen.
The staff was very friendly. Our room was smaller than my closet . The bathroom shower curtain stuck to my wet skin because it was so small. The bed was hard and very uncomfortable. .I would not stay there again.
I stayed for 3 nights in this hotel, which has been recently renovated. The premium room which I had, had a good size and a balcony. Clean room, the bath room was OK, only minor point was the lack of choice in the mini bar. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and the restaurant on the top floor serves good quality. At the outside terrace of the roof top bar, you have a wonderful view on the Acropolis. The hotel is situated outside the center, but there is a metro just in front of the hotel which brings you at Syntagma square in only a couple of minutes.
First of all, the check-in staff was not the most polite. The room decor was ok, but that's it. We booked a superior room facing the Acropolis and it was very hot inside. I switched off the heater, but hours later it was still hot. I called the reception to ask how to make the AC work and they said only the heater worked because it was winter (almost 2 months early) and that was it. So I opened the balcony door to let some fresh air in. The problem is that our room faced the square and busy streets, which meant the noise was ridiculous (cars, horns, music, people talking). And also that whole side of the hotel has colored lights on the balconies, which looked like daylight from inside the room. So it was after midnight and it felt like morning. Impossible to sleep. Next day we decided to leave the door open the whole day to see if the room would cool down, but as soon as we closed the door at night, it warmed up again. Luckily we had booked only 2 nights, because it would be torture to stay there any longer. It's a busy hotel, so sometimes it takes too long for the lift to arrive (there are only 2). Breakfast was not that great. There were only whole fruits, which meant anyone could grab one and put it back. Not very hygienic. I would not recommend this place. Better to spend a little more in another hotel, since guest comfort is not their priority.
I stayed in this hotel in November 2017. Nicely located hotel near city center and metro station. You can see whole city from roof top. Rooms are specious and bathrooms are with bath tub. Hotel is having couple of good restaurants. Main shopping streets and malls are within walking distance. I strongly recommend this hotel to travelers.
We arrive at The Stanly Hotel in Athens, where we are given a room that is a closet; a 128sf room, including the 4' x'4' bathroom. The bed was almost as hard as the floor and its length is positioned against the wall; so if there are two people, one will need to craw over the other or craw up from the food of the bed. The shower stall is literally 2' x 2'. No matter what your size, you WILL fight with the shower curtain that continually clings to your body; and no matter what you do, there WILL be a significant puddle on the floor when you are done showering.
The first night we stay in a normal room, it really needs to be refurbished. The next day we upgrade to premium for 20 euro extra per night. Better room, tea and coffee available. The room faced to the square, which is less noisy then the back (bar music till 4-5 am).
Stayed here for 3 days. Started by getting and upgrade to the 7th floor - really nice. Good standard room, nothing special, but everything is ok. Really nice roof pool with a bar. Also the hotel is close to all the tourist actions in Athens, and we embark the tourist busses just around the corner
The room itself is clean and very comfortable. The balcony had a small incline outwards - enough to make it a little uncomfortable. The hotel is within walking distance Omonoia Square which is a good place to shop and has a metro station right next to it. The roof top restaurant is mediocre. We had a few good dishes but more bad ones. One evening their tomato soup could be thick, warm and nice, another evening watery and cold. Our server was there in body only - not in mind. My main complaints about the hotel is the ventilation in the bathroom share the duct with the next room, which means you hear every word or noise from the next room's bathroom. The rooms are loud and you will hear conversation from next door and when furniture is moved around. Enough to wake me up at night. There are two elevators only, which means you often has to wait a loooong time, Breakfast was excellent with a big selection.
