This is a really nice hotel but situated in a slummy neighbourhood. We only stayed one night as part of a Costsaver tour. We had a meal in the restaurant which was nice. Breakfast was included & had a reasonable selection, however hot items were cold. Sadly It seems this is how it is everywhere across Europe. Getting used to it now. Our room was really nice, clean & comfortable. 12 of our group stayed 3 nights & were quite happy apart from the neighbourhood which was in a poor area with beggars & homeless around.
This is not a bad hotel (and would have received a 4 had it not been for poor service at the end of the stay and afterwards), but we stayed here because of our Platinum Accor loyalty status - we received little benefit for this. Our room was perfectly fine, and the rooftop pool/bar, with great views of the Acropolis, was a definite plus. The breakfasts were generally good with the exception of the ‘early bird’ breakfast on the last morning - only coffee and dry cereal (no milk!) were available. We were also charged an additional tax on check out (by a surly member of staff) despite our reservation confirmation stating clearly that all taxes were pre-paid and there was nothing to be paid at the hotel. In response to some negative feedback in the subsequent questionnaire, the manager first thanked me for the positive feedback - seemingly having not read the comments or scores given - and then claimed, incorrectly, that we had been upgraded to an executive room. This was what we had booked, so we received no room upgrade. He also listed various items as part of the ‘early bird’ breakfast but, with the exception of the coffee and dry cereal already mentioned, these were not provided on the day we checked out - it was abysmal. We’ve subsequently been offered a complimentary meal for two on a future visit but, given that this visit was part of our honeymoon trip and we have no plans to return to Athens, it’s not a particularly useful offer! A generally good hotel, despite being in a fairly run down neighbourhood, but the standard of customer service was lower than expected from a Novotel, and it seems that feedback is not read properly. If returning to Athens, I would stay elsewhere despite having the Platinum status.
Hi All After we were cancelled by apartment owner in athens in last minute we were left with 4 days to organise anything to stay for family of 4 with 2 small kids!! Well in Easter time there was no much on offer also with small kids seems we were not so welcome:( However after my husband rang Novotel and explained situation their lovely reception staff were able to find something for us with no problem regarding children:) We did arrive and we were welcomed very nicely and all staff was very polite. Room was quiet and just right:) We could say that we stayed there almost 2 weeks and we found cleaning one day better than another but there was no major issues. Towels were changed for fresh and clean. All supplies were added and bed made. Only one minus is that there was no much space for 4 of us to hang clothes but this kind of hotels are rather max 4/5 days stay:) so no problem! Also we had got the first time a mini chair/stool in the barhroom which was great! What else u can ask for? We only were there for the nights anyway as who would stay indoor all day with kids:) we just been madly out to explore:) The breakfast was very tasty and fresh. Just what u wish and seasonal. We were very impress with fresh squeezed orange juice and eggs:) The lovely Breakfast Service Manager Plation I think Sorry if misspelled!! Was a right person in right place! Very proffesional and warm. Children loved the play area and they used bit of swimming pool. We would recommend highly this hotel. We walked almost every day to Monestyriaki or Syntagma. With small kids! 30 min or Taxi £3.5 /5 from center. Great location. Walking distance to park near victoria station/ short walk to Motor Museum or National Archeological Museum. Loads of Bulgarian or Polish shops arround. Restaurant food also great. Mussaka was excellent! Best Regards to cheff! Overall if we arround we be back! Thanks Also we were given for Easter Sunday A sweet basket with bunny eggs and biscuits! Well done!
Nice hotel and good service. All you can expect from Novotel. Looks like almost all novotels in the world. Nice pool at the roof. Area is not very nice but i felt safe even walking in the night. Very good and inexpensive Greek restaurant close to the hotel. Abt 10 mins driving to the center and taxi is cheap.
Situated in a poor reputation district, the hotel is a real pleasant surprise. Stylish, clean, well-equipped to welcome guests. Staff are particularly kind and professional. Visit and use the terrace. It's delightful to sit on the pool and bar terrace and visually visit Athens. Superior rooms (5-6) are preferred, especially over 15 (515-520, 615-620). Breakfast is very varied. Despite the neighborhood I warmly recommend this hotel because you can go out and get into a taxi caertioer, which is cheap. However, all the monuments and traditional streets are close by.
Just spent 3 nights at the lovely Novotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the second we walked through the door. The hotel itself is spotless, very modern and the roof top pool is a nice extra. The view from the roof is amazing! We ate at the restaurant and the food was beautiful - recommend the breaded feta. A lot of people have mentioned the area itself and it did worry me when I read the reviews before we arrived. The area isn’t the best and I certainly wouldn’t walk around at night but during the day we had no issues, saw lots of homeless people but we were never bothered by anybody - like any city just be vigilant, don’t have your phone hanging out of your back pocket etc. Overall a lovely stay at the Novotel!
Good, but not the best hotel. Requires some renovation and the rooms are tiny. Was very overcrowded the 3 days we stayed. Very good breakfast, though, but some lines, because if the crowds. A great pool on the roof with a perfect view. Also, there was a very loud ventilation system outside the window which made the sleep unpleasant. The neighborhood around the hotel is very dirty and unsafe.
We booking at Novotel Athenes for 4 nights to visit the town The rooms are nice clean The hotel have a nice pool on top floor and there we can enjoy the perfect sunset The Breakfast buffet are nice the the only negative is the location is located in the most dangerous part of the city where walking is not recommended I recommend renting a taxi (uber) if you want to go downtown In the case of yellow taxi rent very careful with the prices because they turn off the taximeter and charge what they want I was paid 10€ for less then 1 mile Ridiculous!!!!
....which could do with some improvement, both at the hotel and in the city. Our EasyJet flight arrived late, and we took the metro from the airport (10 euros adult, 5 euros seniors and children) to Larissa Station. From there it's a 10 minute walk to the hotel, but in the dark the area looks very threatening at first sight. During the day one realises that it's just a mixture of dereliction, vandalism, and decay, which seems to pervade a great deal of modern Athens. Arriving at the hotel one is relieved to find a smart building, with friendly and efficient staff. Our "executive" room was in typical Novotel style, with everything in good condition. We had a balcony, with a view to distant hills (ignoring the rather closer derelict buildings). The bathroom was smart, and generously provisioned. There is a free safe, and a minibar (payable). Daily cleaning was generally efficient (but I don't expect to find someone else's used slugs in my coffee machine). One of the best features of the hotel is the open air rooftop pool and bar, with excellent views to the Acropolis and the other hills of Athens. The pool opened during our stay, and our daughter braved the cold water on several days. There is a free gym on the floor below, which looks well equipped. Breakfast was included in our room rate. The usual scrambled eggs, bacon, potato cakes, and a couple of other hot items, but not much variation from day to day, so that by the end of the week we were feeling somewhat disappointed. Nice brownies on occasion. Decent coffees from machines. Good staff. The bar, next to the restaurant, was pleasant. In the lobby area there are a couple of computers for general use, an Xbox with interactive games, and a small children's play area. There's also a book exchange, and a handy little shop. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the centre, but whichever route you take you see the same decay and dereliction, with graffiti on almost every available surface, regardless of the damage done to active businesses and homes. On one road several ladies of negotiable virtue were plying their trade throughout the day. The general area is probably safer than it feels. In the end we decided that the walk to the metro at Larissa Station was probably the best route to town, as a 5 day metro/tram/bus pass costs a VERY modest 9 euros, and it will take you close to all the sights, even down to Piraeus (by metro), and then along the coast (on the tram). From Piraeus you can take a cheap ferry trip over to one of the islands. If we were to visit Athens again we would probably return to this hotel.
It is a nice and clean hotel with good service and house keeping facilities. They speak my language and understood my needs. It is located right in the centre of Athens next to all the famous landmarks.I recommend this hotel to all.
