I lost my wallet on 24Sep19. Another hotel(not this one) which I had already book said nothing and left me with my 2 big luggage in the midnight in Ueno!! Then I told my friend to book this hotel(Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno) for me. I entered the hotel at 2AM and the staffs are very nice. They calm down me and said they would call to JR offiice(which I had already contact for lost & found) in the morning. I woke up at around 11.15AM, I quickly went to lobby for check out. And they said that they had already contact to JR office and found a wallet which similar to mine. After checking out, I went to JR office and received my wallet back. I am so thankful to the Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno for helping me so much and warm-welcoming people who just lost his mind like me. Next time if I go to Tokyo, I will stay at this hotel again Thank you so much!! ありがとうございました!! Ps. btw the accommodation is very good and clean. Nevertheless, the location is really really good, the hotel is just 2-5 min. walking from JR or subway (Ueno station).
You can't beat the location and value for what you are paying for at Mitsui Garden Ueno. I love that it's a short walk from Ueno station (which also includes the Shinkansen lines) as well as the Keisei. Not to mention nearby Ameyayokocho, several department stores and of course, Ueno Zoo and park. Unlike other business hotels in Japan, the rooms aren't particularly tiny like you may be use to. There is still room to full open your suitecase and unpack, not to mention just some living space. I've stayed here twice before and will plan on staying again in the future.
Typical hotel in Tokyo is you get small room most of the time. My experience to stay at this hotel is actually good, location is really at best, nearby to the center of attraction at Ueno area. Hotel was really clean, efficient. The downside, the rate is pricey, we can get way much better hotel in other city, but it is Tokyo :-). The room is small yet it is very clean. The bed and pillow are slightly hard. Also we paid for breakfast one of the day, it was good breakfast with a lot of choice. It was a good experience though, not a complaint. But with tghe price we paid it should be better than this.
4 star hotel. Near subway station. Eateries are nearby. Groceries are located in the station. Thus you can buy some breakfast at the supermarket before returning to the hotel. Room size good for couple. Can visit the next time.
Located just a few minutes away from the UENO station (take the pedestrian bridge). The staff is good and can speak rather good English. The rooms are tiny but still bigger than most of the rooms in this area. There is unfortunately no air conditioning but aside from this it was a great stay.
Based on location it’s a great place. Easy to access from Ueno main station or Skyliner from Narita even with suitcases. 3-4 minute walk. Rooms smallish - but standard for Japan. But clean and an efficient service all round. The hotel is in the heart of lively Ueno with cafes, bars, good restaurants and a shopping mall nearby and easy access to central Tokyo and Shibuya on Ginza line Recommended!
Chose hotel based on location to Skyliner and Shinkansen leaving Ueno station. Easy to get to hotel on foot either walking on the footpath or elevated walkway (lifts for suitcases). Stayed a total of 5 nights at hotel. Ideally we would have preferred a double room, but advice of travel agent recommended the twin room as the room size is larger. We didn't want a Queen bed against a wall. Room size was compact despite being 22 m2. Not really enough room for 2 suitcases and associated other bags. Breakfast every day - had a very wide variety of foods available, mainly Japanese but cereal / juice / fruit and croissants available (no toast). Was an introduction to Japanese breakfasts which we found very pleasant. Tasty miso soup. Breakfast area was busy but we never had to wait to be seated. Shower over bath. Vending machine closeby stocking a wide variety of drinks, including beer (a good way to use up change at the end of each day). Check-in and check-out prompt - English language is no problem at all.
We stayed at Mitsu Gardens Ueno Hotel for 2 nights. Glad it wasn't any longer. A so called double bed was small, put against the wall which made it difficult to get out of the bed in the ight. A desk against the window, a small bathroom. Nothing to get excited about. Check-in was efficient and friendly. As it was Golden week in Japan, we were told to arrive at breakfast early as there would be a lot of guests there. We arrived at 0650 am, the restaurant was already full and a long line already formed. We had prepaid breKfSt at booking, months prior and were not happy to queue for 30 mins or more to get breakfast. Apoarantly there was a sign at reception saying there will be delays with breakfast, but we wernt aware of this when booking and paying. We asked for a refund on Breakfast and got breakfast out. It's close to Ueno railway station, the shrines, zoo, park and there's a convenience store across the road
We arrived direct from Narita via train to the Ueno Keisei station and could see the hotel when we exited. There is the larger Ueno Train station a block away which has 2 levels of restaurants and food/deli style shops both stations a 5 minute walk to the hotel. You could walk across the streets or take the elevated walkways which also had elevators at some intersections. Compact but well designed room with a queen bed, electric kettle, various teas, coffee, pajamas ( changed daily), slippers and mister for facials. There is a long work surface with a chair. The television had a few English language channels. The hotel has a restaurant and we bought the breakfast buffet for about $16/pp which was more than ample, like a full dinner including various noodles, with different sauces, rice, fish, chicken, duck, soup and the usual western style with eggs, fruit, pancakes, ham, toast and coffee, tea, juice. The Ueno Garden was about 2 blocks away, there were restaurants, a temple, museums, a lake and a play area with carousel for children. There was an OIOI Department store and other shops just a block away. Restaurants abound in this area along with outdoor markets. The area around the hotel was busy during the day but a little quieter at night with many places to explore off the main street. The staff were kind, respectful and helpful. The hotel was clean and quiet, I would not hesitate to book a room in this hotel should we have the good fortune to visit this wonderful city.
The hotel is very conveniently placed near to Ueno Station and also the Skyliner station which we needed to use at 6.20 am back to the airport on our final day. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Check in and out were easy. I had booked the Sakura panda room as a final treat for our last 3 days in Tokyo. The room was a good size (by Tokyo standards!) as was the bathroom. The Sakura panda room was super cute and made us smile. The room was clean and fresh and I liked the little extra touches such as the samples of Shisiedo products, the hair straighteners and free water. The room was cleaned and made up each day. There were two lifts, which, as this is quite a large hotel, were very useful. The hotel was mainly quiet in the room where were were situated and we slept well. We both struggled with the unusual pillows so it would have been good to have had a choice of pillows in the room. Breakfast was quite expensive given that neither of us eat Asian food for breakfast (although we like it at other times of the day). I just had cereal and croissants and my daughter ate very little. This is quite usual for Japan but we would have liked a bit more choice of continental breakfast. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.
