This was a truly customer focused hotel. What surprised me most is that I had previously stayed earlier in the week at a Ritz Carlton (Kyoto) and expected their world renown service to be tops. I was wrong - Mandarin clearly led the service excellence for the following reasons: During a bar visit, my husband and I mentioned that we were interested in trying different saki with our server. We were having an exploratory conversation with the server, when we then moved on to our next stop in the evening. Later that night, we had a letter in our room from the concierge following up on our request from that discussion. It is truly incredible to me that in the fast paced world of hospitality when an employee makes a point to follow up on such a request. Secondly, when we arrived, our room had not been quite finished for our check in (we needed to wait about 20 min). We were treated to a tea break in their beautiful lobby, overlooking the city (at their expense). Next, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. This hotel truly did a great job remembering this - and acknowledged it with several special treats throughout, as well as a lovely parting gift of green Matcha Lastly - the concierge truly aims to please - they offered up many delightful suggestions and made our holiday that much special. There was one opportunity for development here - we wanted to see the Sumo practice, and evidently this training is difficult to get tickets to see. It would have been better if the concierge had told us that and really prioritised that activity and we would have worked the other sight-seeing around it. Recommendation to future guests: Do take advantage of the concierge services, they know their stuff. Also, for a special night out go to the Sora Sushi and amazed at the chef's cutting and preparation skills! Recommendation to hotel management: Do ask your concierge to help prioritise the more difficult to book / high demand activities first, to avoid disappointment.
The best of everything is the standard for this hotel in the sky above the center of Tokyo. The service is exceptional and the staff take every opportunity to assist you. Of course the bathroom is a truly unique experience for a Westerner
MO standards were high throughout our stay and often surpassed expectations. Service levels are close to faultless by the whole team. Thoughtful details in the amenities provided make MO a class above e.g. Kettle is pre-filled with distilled water for convenience, gym has granola snack bars and juice again for convenience.
Takes Japanese hospitality to a whole new level. Beautiful rooms (we stayed in two kinds) and very attentive staff. Warmth, attention to detail and smiles all around make this a hotel you wish you didn't have to leave.
We had high expectations after reading reviews and being referred here by friends. IT was our anniversary so we decided to splurge at the Mandarin, as we've always wanted to stay at one! We figured Tokyo was the best place because it was high up and the service would be great in Japan. This hotel exceeded our expectations! We would have been happy missing tours just to spend time in the hotel, there are NO words for the incredible staff and experience. Everytime we wanted to sit by the window, they would find a spot for us, even if there was a line! They even took our coats and put them in our room since we didnt need them anymore. You can use the spa without charge every morning for a few hours, the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi which was a fantastic overlooking the city! FOOD: Pizza bar was the best pizza we have had in our lives. Hands down fantastic! We had high tea as well and they were very accommodating to our vegetarian needs. ROOM: Very spacious, beautiful large modern bathroom with Botega Venetta designer toiletries! SERVICE: Always available for suggestions, help, directing us where to go, best route to take, and inexpensive ways to do things If we ever come to Japan we would stay here again, no question! It's more than worth it!
We stayed here for 4 nights. It is a truly international hotel where on arrival you are greeted in true Japanese style and whisked up 38 floors to the spacious reception hall with wonderful views overlooking Tokyo. You then go down in different lifts to the6 floors of stunning accommodation - plenty of hanging space, beautiful bathrooms everything you could wish for provided by the hotel. There are dining facilities in the hotel from casual to fine dining and shops restaurants and subway system are a few metres away.
We stayed here a total of 4 nights. 3 nights at the start of a tour and 1 night at the end. The hotel is beautiful all around, lobby, restaurants, lounges and the spacious rooms with great views. Everything in the Hotel is immaculate. The location is great with shopping and tourist attractions within walking distance. Service was excellent as expected. Fast and free Wi-Fi. I only noticed a few very minor items that kept this hotel from being perfect: The bathroom lighting over the sink area needs to be brighter. The closet does not have an interior light. Eggs or cooked to order items in the Breakfast Buffet are ordered separately and come from the kitchen so it is hard to match up hot eggs with hot toast or bacon etc.that you get from the buffet. But these are just minor problems in my opinion so if that's all I noticed it must be a pretty great place to stay.
This was my 2nd time staying at the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, and I loved it as much this time as my 1st. From the second you arrive the service is unbelievable, to the point where you feel guilty. The room was beautiful with tons of tiny details carefully thought out and spotlessly cleaned each day. The in hotel dining options are all great. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet one morning and loved the high quality food and variety. The pizza bar was excellent as well. While I was traveling on business and didn't personally pay, I would definitely be willing to pay the fairly high price myself as well as it is an amazing hotel experience.
Upon arrival a few mistakes regarding reservation were quickly rectified and the rest of the stay was perfect. The restaurant in the hotel Sushi Sora was a wonderful experience..forget the cost and let the sushi chef take you on a journey you will remember!
This magnificent hotel with the superior front desk and dining room staffs provides outstanding hospitality to their guests. The beautiful and spacious rooms have large bath areas with great soaking tubs. The views out of the floor to ceiling windows provide impressive views of the city which are unforgettable. The concierge staff are informative and very helpful. Caution: check the menu prices in the restaurants before entering so that you do not have an unpleasant surprise when you get the bill.
