Scandic Park

4.0 out of 5.0

We have been to lovely Scandic hotels and found this one to be overpriced. The family room was just a small double room with a little sofa bed squeezed in. No other facilities. The room was not in a desperate need for refurbishing, but certainly older and not as new and nice as other Scandics we've been to. The breakfast buffet was awfully crowded and we had to queue to get a table. And the price we paid was almost twice what we've paid at other Scandics. I would not recommend it.

The negative: The hotel really needs to be upgraded, the hotel rooms especially. For breakfast you need patience - it's crowded, people bump into each other... The positive: The breakfast has a good selection. The location is great, walking distance to the best parts of Stockholm.

Location is okay and price is fair within the Stockholm standards. I wonder how it is rated 4 star though. No minibar, no room service, towels are given after request (at least in my case). Housekeeping is pretty basic (they make the bed, some days trash was not taken away, no towel replacement). Doors to Spa/sauna is kept locked. What is supposed to be gym is a threadmill. Super busy during weekends, you have to cue to get seated for breakfast (felt like school cantine). When our colleagues came by for 2 nights, one was given a key to a meeting room, then he was informed hotel was booked and had to wait for them to prepare a tiny room in the middle of the night (he made reservations prior). This is the service what you get here for 210 eur. Enough said.

We were forced to book us in at hotel (not planned) and Scandic Park was located convenient for us. This was Sunday afternoon, 17th September and we needed a room just to wait our home journey for couple of hours. We = a married, old o(over 60!) couple with a small dog. The answer from the receptionist was - we don't have SUCH rooms at all! When I tried to explain that it was okay that we pay for a normal 1 night stay she repeated her answer and her look indicated that we were not welcomed! I have never felt myself so "dirty" before! Nevertheless, after a really long time, she "managed" to find us a room. Room was "okay". But my decision is absolutely; never will I stay at this hotel or recommend it to somebody"

This hotel is situated in a really hot spot area. It is close to, in principle, everything when you want a big city weekend. I love the size of the hotel, the staff is great and the service very good!

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room; much bigger than in some other Scandic hotels. The bed was amazing and the bedsheets good quality. Bathroom seemed to be recently renovated and the bathtub was a nice plus after a long day. Only downsize I can think of was that the tv was a bit small to be watched from the bed :D Breakfast was really nice and at least early in the morning there was a lot of space to sit. I also tried the restaurant in the evening and the food plus the service was good. The menu is not big but I found something good to eat.

Normally try to stay a bit outside the city centre for peace and quietness, but due to no availability in my normal hotel I decided to stay here. The location is a 5 min walk to Stureplan, we the shopping area starts, plenty of restaurants in the area. The hotel is opposite a park, so nice to walk around. The rooms are well layer out and spacious. The restaurant is spacious which allows you to have to feel comfortable knowing that your neighbour will not over hear your conversation. Breakfast was excellent with a good variety of food to select from. There is a sauna and fitness area. Staff where friendly and very helpful. I had to leave very early on Saturday and was offered a breakfast pack, which was nice. Would I stay again? Yes definitely.

The GOOD. The location is very nice- opposite a large park, and there is an abundant and healthful breakfast spread. The desk staff are friendly and helpful. There was a desk in the room and good internet, and hot water. BUT - Well in advance we booked a "Superior room" based on their description and photographs. However - What we got could raher kindly be described as "average". The floors were very dark wood, One wall was almost covered with a huge black headboard. The room was located on the southwest side, overshadowed by a tall office building, dark by day and lit up by office lights all night. There was construction work below during the day - though that was temporary and unavoidable. The small window had a sheer curtain with a hole torn in it, probably because the plastic rod to close the heavier curtain was broken off so far up that you had to stand on a chair to block out the office lights all night. The armchair was faded and tired. The bathroom reminded me in some ways of places I stayed years ago in the back-country of China. Two large plastic pump bottles of shampoo and shower gel, and a telephone on the wall near the toilet (!). You climb awkwardly into a large tub with a shower screen which leaked water onto the floor. The bathmat was miniscule and thin. Near the basin was a concertina-arm which may have once held a mirror, now pointless. I did not do laundry, but noted that the ironing board cover was quite frayed on the edges, and you had to stand half in the closet if you wanted to iron. Actually even their images of a standard room look much nicer, lighter and brighter than what we got, but based on our should not believe them either.

We had a good room at the back of the hotel, OK the bathroom could probably do with an update, but the beds were comfortable, and it was really quiet. The location is excellent, and it's opposite a really beautiful park. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the breakfasts were good. My only complaint would be that as a lot of tour groups stay here, breakfast could be a little hectic to say the least, and it felt a bit like a bun fight at times. Breakfast was of a good quality though when you could actually get to it (parents - ask for pancakes at the kitchen counter, they make them especially for children!). We would stay here again...

Very worn rooms, dirty and various missing in the rooms. Tried to change rooms, but it was even worse. The hotel did not follow up to fix the issues along the way. We had six rooms and all of them had the same challanges. Scandic is not always Scandic, so be prepared.
