As regular spa break ladies we paid a little more for this two day break last weekend than we normally have in other hotels but sadly the experience wasn't worth the extra. We had a catalogue of disasters from our arrival on the Friday. From cold food,haphazard service, an inability to get simple orders right,dated bedrooms with cracked tiles in the bathroom and doors which didn't shut. All this compounded by the fact that when problems arose they weren't rectified.Fire alarms inevitably do happen in the middle of the night and are an acceptable inconvenience,however for a hotel of this size to have no apparent evacuation procedure in place is scandalous. Sadly these are only a few of the problems encountered but it is a poor reflection when neither decaffeinated coffee or a slice of lemon could be provided at breakfast. On the positive side we found staff generally to be pleasant and friendly,particularly on reception,in the spa and the cleaners.However we certainly won't be returning and shall be advising our friends not to waste their money

Went on Sunday for their fixed price lunch. Not a big menu,but the food was well presented and of a high standard. I had the pork belly which was excellent, my partner had the beef which was melt in the mouth. The meal was a dream, service was good but the restaurant was freezing, really cold. This might come as a surprise to some as the restaurant also accommodates those from the Spa. So while you are having your meal other clients are sitting about near naked in dressing gowns. This is a real put off and should be addressed. For this reason 3 stars. If I want a spa I'll go if I want a meal I expect some standards.

Just back from a long weekend here for my birthday. The staff - they were all very friendly and helpful, however we had to call down to reception three times to have something delivered to our room. The room - the bed was really huge and comfortable, however the room was a bit dated and the could do with some modernisation. The bathroom - the shower was great, powerful with plenty of hot water and lovely toiletries provided, again could do with a bit of a spruce up, but very clean. The breakfast - there was a great range of hot and cold items on offer, service a bit haphazard on Saturday morning, one person took tea/coffee and toast orders and said someone else would take hot food order - no-one came to take this so eventually we had to ask to order hot food. The cooked breakfast on Saturday was lovely, on Sunday we placed our order for hot food with our tea/coffee and the cooked breakfast came quickly but was a bit cold for some reason. We had a meal in the restaurant on Friday evening which was pleasant but unremarkable. One downside was that the menu said 'ask your server about our range of draft beers', we asked as my husband likes an IPA, and our waitress said the only beer they had was the bottles on the menu - so we ordered from that. Surprised later to see the table next to us being served a pint of beer!! The spa/gym/pool was lovely and again the staff were friendly and helpful here. On Friday night the fire alarm went off just after midnight and we were all evacuated outside to the car-park in our PJ's on a freezing night! This was a bit annoying, but can't be helped, however it would have been nice if the disturbance to guests had been acknowledged by staff in the morning, perhaps an apology at check out wouldn't have been too much to offer? Finally, the £3 credit card charge added to the bill - would be better to mention this when taking card details at check in rather than add at the end. All in all a mixed experience for a 4 Star hotel.

Just had a fantastic three night stay at this hotel. From check in to check out the staff were absolutely amazing and could not do enough for you. Very friendly and relaxed. We ate in the Scottish steakhouse twice and can honestly best ribeye I have eaten. Great meal on both occasions. Will definitely be back.

Having looked forward to booking into the Inchyra for 'the dining experience' we were left totally disappointed by the extremely poor standard of our room. The two chairs in our room were dirty and stained and the carpet had a thread worn spot. The bathroom tiles were loose and in need of being re -grouted. The bath panel was warped at the bottom by water damage and there was a hole at the bottom of the bathroom door. Having stayed in a range of hotels over the years , I have stayed in budget hotels whose rooms were far superior to this. On a more positive note the service was impeccable as the staff were friendly courteous and helpful. We also enjoyed our food. This is the first time we have ever felt strongly enough to complain about à hotel but we would expect more from a McDonald's hotel

I don't think I have ever been in such an awful room - outdated, dusty and dirty, no blackout curtains. Requested a different room but was told the only one available was the same type. Staff was unhelpful. I felt like cancelling and looking for a different hotel and would have done so if I wasn't too tired.

I arrived here after a long day travelling on business and found the staff on reception very friendly and pleasant, I am sorry but I can't remember the two specific girls on reception but like all the other staff all very nice. The hotel it's self is quite alright and just right for my overnight stay. Although most of the building was in good condition my room was showing signs of wear, thread bare carpet, the easy chair looking a little saggy, the bathroom getting ready for a refit. Breakfast was tasty, served to my liking and a nice selection of cereal's as well as full fry up. If your on business a stop over here is very acceptable.

If you've stayed with Macdonald Hotels before, you'll be disappointed as this was way off usual standards. Friendly welcome at reception. Corridors dated and in urgent need of upgrading. Rooms ok. Bar cold and uninviting. Staff forgot our drinks and then disappeared to place candles on tables. Took 20mins to get drinks. Hotel's own website offers restaurant bookings online from 17:00, reception advised restaurant doesn't serve until 18:00 and we couldn't book earlier. We reluctantly booked for 18:00 as we were going out at 19:00 and had taxi booked by reception. Service was so slow in restaurant that we had to ask for taxi to be rebooked for later time. Probably as well as reception had forgotten to make the original taxi booking. Couldn't be seated in the refurbished steakhouse area for our steaks even though restaurant quiet with two tables occupied. Explained when seated we had limited time and needed to leave at 19:00, then staff didn't take either our drinks or food order and instead folded napkins. Then took orders from subsequent tables. Staff more interested in complaining to us about the newly introduced tablets to take orders than listening to our order. Over an hour for two steaks and two drinks in a steak restaurant. Unacceptable. Also dislike having dinner beside groups of people from spa in bathrobes and swimsuits. Especially when they spill food and several staff walk by, look at the mess and do not clean it. Guests shouldn't have to locate staff to take an order or ask that the floor is cleared of trip hazards. Hot Breakfast is cooked especially for you rather than a buffet which is lovely, again, wait of fifteen mins to take an order as staff took orders randomly. Chaotic service altogether. Need for staff training as individually the people were lovely, simply no one in charge to run the restaurant properly. Was also surprising that reception could not provide me with an itemised breakdown of spend for our stay. Love Macdonald Hotels usually, this was a real let down.

Nice looking hotel. Big room. Dated bathroom with a shower bath. Food okay but not as good as they seem to think it is. Professional staff who are probably the best thing about the hotel. The spa is very good. Well equipped. I'd open it earlier if i was the manager.

I was at the Inchyra Grange for a spa day for a wee birthday treat for one of my friends, there was 6 of us. We had a lovely day with the rasul mud therapy and 3 of us had a facial and massage. The staff are all lovely and very helpful. Lunch was included which was soup and sandwiches which were lovely. No one asked us if we wanted to order drinks or if we wanted tea or coffee though. I went to the bar half way through lunch and after s 5 minute wait managed to order a bottle of prosecco. The girl said she would bring it over. That took another 5 minutes, we had actually finished eating before it was actually served to us. Just before we left we went to the bar for a glass of wine.......,£14 for a glass of Sauvignon, really, this is a ridiculous price to be charging customers. I thought the girl was showing me the drinks menu to point out it was cheaper to buy the bottle than by the glass. I was absolutely stunned at the price. It would actually put us off returning. I contacted the Inchyra and they advised me to contact their head office as the prices were set by them. So I did and they replied today to say that the prices are calculated on local prices in the area and they believed they were reasonable. Now I've been on a fair few spa days and I have never ever paid £14 for 1 glass of wine in any of the spa hotels I have used. Incidentally they charged £28 for the prosecco!!! Make sure you take plenty of cash if you dare buy a drink.
