More than just a hotel. Meeting rooms, a large gym, spa and restaurant. The good: rooms were a decent size. Even though we were in the main corridor it was reasonably quiet. The morning breakfast was above average. The bed and bedding was comfortable. Service at the front desk was always available and there was a spacious sitting area in reception area. The not so good: very weak wifi and would have to stand by my door to get a decent signal. The location of the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Any restaurants nearby must be driven to. Nowhere to really walk to in the area. The room had enough space for a suitcase and plenty of storage in the closet. The bathrooms were a bit tight but up to date. My wife had a massage that was reasonably priced and very much above average quality.
I visited this hotel for the second time on 4th September 2017, about a year since my last visit. This time myself and 2 others attended a Spa Day that we arrange as a voucher deal. Firstly, I would say that it is normally quite obvious when you are visiting a venue on a voucher deal as they always seem to treat you just a little differently, but that was definitely NOT the case with this hotel. We were very well looked after and all of the staff were wonderful. The Spa area is clean and spacious with lovely big windows and views of the garden and greenery. On the day we visited, it was not busy and therefore very relaxing. The Treatment areas again clean and quite with gentle lighting and soft music. My beauty therapist was lovely, the hot stone massage was incredible and the facial left my skin glowing. I was very relaxed at the end of the hour! Following our treatments, we went out of our afternoon tea and again it was one of the best I have ever had, they were happy to swap out our prossecco for soft drinks (we were all driving, shame!) and gave us extra jam and cream for our scones (which were still warm) Everyone from the receptionist to our waiter were pleasant and friendly, and we had a fantastic day. If you can get a deal, definitely do it, its so worth the money and you get a lovely day out of it
Hidden from the main road, this hotel is a real gem. Set in beautiful surroundings it is a blend of old and new, and offers very comfortable accommodations. The restaurant menu has an excellent choice to suit all tastes and is very good value. We will definitely be visiting again.
All of the staff at the hotel were extremely attentive making sure we had a fabulous day at my daughter's wedding. The majority stayed at the hotel for two nights. So, we had a family buffet the first day followed by the wedding the next day. Everything was well arranged and nothing was too much trouble.
We found the hotel to be very comfortable and worked well for our needs. Our room package included a breakfast, which was a buffet and cooked to order breakfast. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We had no problems getting our rooms when we arrived and as mentioned they were clean and ready for us. We found this hotel to be a great location for a launching point for various activities we were doing in this part of Scotland. Overall a great experience.
Stayed here while attending Party at the Palace in nearby Linlithgow. Lovely clean room with tasteful decor. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. Only downfall was no tea or coffee facilities in the room but the restaurant staff supplied us with tea, free of charge when requested on arrival. The little things make a big difference.
Just arrived for an overnight stay. Sent to a room up multiple set of stairs with all our luggage. Got to the room & it's still dirty from the previous night. I went back down to reception & the gentleman (staff) who was speaking to the receptionist was supposed to come & help bring all the luggage down to a new room. Waited up in the first room for him to come, only to see him walking around outside from the window. Lugged all our luggage back down to meet the young lady from reception coming to help us. The gentleman then arrived at reception to help shift us to next room. He took the smallest suitcase & showed us to the next room. This one smells of old vomit! Tried to run a bath, TWICE. First time, mustard coloured water, second time, yellow water, do I try a third? Carpet on floor is thread bear in places in the room, stained & hair balls. Yes human hair balls! Corridor carpets not vacuumed in the first section we were taken to. We're not game to fill the kettle to make a cup of tea, with the state of the water. I don't know how this hotel could have a 4 star rating! Shameful to charge this amount, for this calibre room, regardless of other facilities in the hotel.
Room perfect for a night away on business although a little dated with a swimming pool a nice bonus. Restaurant and bar ok with a good choice of food and drink. Breakfast the following morning was a shock (read the small print) as a buffet breakfast was £14.50 (ie cornflakes, toast and coffee) and a full English £19.50! Astronomical for what was not even a special meal and more than you would pay in a central London hotel. Better off driving away from the hotel and getting breakfast elsewhere.
We stayed here whilst we were filming with a local charity for a BBC1 VT. We arrived late, but got checked in with Sophie who was lovely. Made sure we had everything we needed and we were off. We did miss dinner though so had cold sandwiches before bed. Our own fault for not ringing ahead to pre order sooner. Rooms were fine. Clean and practical. Although cobwebs behind the bedside tables. Shower was ok at night, a loss of pressure in the morning. But I had everything I needed to get a good nights sleep. The bar and restaurant is expensive. £13 for a glass of wine (Malbec). £28 for steak. Which is done in grams not ounces. So asking the waitress for a conversion didn’t get us far. So we turned to google. But it was an amazing tasty steak. Good chips and nice veg to accompany it. We enjoyed the food. But eyes watered at the price. All staff were pleasant though. Breakfast has a great selection and some lovely fresh pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and the cooked breakfast is good too. We were able to use the luggage trolley to transport our camera kit between the car etc. Sophie even went the extra mile and leant a coat to our presenter as she’d forgotten hers. So yeah. Impressed overall. Thanks
An overnight on business whilst in the area. Checkin/out was very efficient. Room was clean but the bathroom a little tired. I had a meal in the bar and have to say it was very good. I would stay here again.
