The saga continues.... Back at the end of June this year, I stayed at the Inchyra Hotel in Polmont, Scotland for 6 nights. My bill for those 6 nights was over £1200. You can read my report about that stay, which I uploaded on 29th June 2017. There were a number of issues which I had with the hotel, and it would seem they were agreed with by the hotel manager, and as a result of my complaint, my wife and I were invited back for another 6 nights free of charge. We checked in again for a second try on Tuesday 28th November, and having entered our room, it was obvious that the hotel was trying to impress and say sorry. The room was an upgraded king size, and was very nice. However, within 5 minutes, the wife had spotted 3 out of 4 of the pillowcases were dirty and stained, and had to be replaced by housekeeping. Not so impressed, as we were 5 minutes earlier. The following morning we went for breakfast. The first thing I spotted was a dirty stained tea cup, looking up at me from the table, which was promptly changed by the head waitress with an apology. My wife ordered 2 boiled eggs. They came out raw. She sent them back and ordered 2 more, and they came out raw as well. She gave up at that point and stuck with toast and marmalade. The worst was yet to come. On the Saturday night the hotel was allowing several Christmas party functions. I would describe them more as 'raves'. Although the noise was quite reasonable up until midnight, the function ended so everyone decided to carry on partying in the hotel and their rooms. Despite the night staff trying their best to break things up and send people home or to bed if they had booked rooms, the noise, which was extreme, continued to 4.30am. The night staff were simply powerless to break up, what had become in my opinion, the equivalent of an illegal rave. To make matters worse, someone set off the fire alarm at 3.45am, and the whole hotel was evacuated to a damp, cold, hotel car park whilst the fire brigade decided if it was a false alarm (which it was). The car park then ended up with broken glass. As a result of not getting any sleep at all that night, our planned Sunday morning with our grandson in Falkirk never happened, and it was Monday morning before my wife and I felt fit to do anything. On the Monday morning, we went for breakfast, and just to see what would happen, my wife ordered 2 boiled eggs again. Guess what. They came out almost raw just like the other 2 times earlier in the week. I had a meeting with the hotel manager the morning we were checking out. The usual apologies, together with an offer of 2 more free nights and an upgrade for any more nights from a standard to an executive room. We have decided not to take him up on that offer. In conclusion, I offer this advice for anyone thinking of booking with this hotel: 1) The Inchyra Grange is not worthy of it's 4* rating. It masquerades as a 4* hotel because it has a spa and swimming pool. The housekeeping is not up to standard and if a breakfast chef cannot even boil an egg, there is something very wrong. 2) Do not stay in this hotel on a Saturday night, especially leading up to Christmas. The hotel is only interested in earning a fast buck from its function rooms, and cares nothing about the rest of the hotel guests who want to get a night's sleep. On the other hand, you could always join in with the party until 4.30am. Your choice.
Booked a spa overnight for my 30th Birthday with my mum, dad and sister. On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite, which was brilliant! Staff were very friendly and explained the spa process as we had never been before. We all had a deep tissue body massage which was unbelievable! Was sooo relaxing!! The pool and the lounging area at the spa are very clean and was great to chill out at after our massage. Ordered two sandwiches to our room which cost us £18! Bit expensive as we had to pay a £5 tray charge! The dinner was included in our package to the cost of £25 each. I had steak which was delicious! The breakfast was also brilliant, lots to choose from at the cold buffet, and also could order a full English! YUM! The only downside to our relaxing night was the fire alarm that went off at 3am. Not really the hotel's fault though. We were told it was some idiot smoking in their room! Grrrrr! While we were outside waiting for the fire engine it was freezing as we didnt have time to get ready so I had no shoes on the whole time (brrr). On the plus side... two of the lovely waitresses gave us their aprons to stand on as the slabs were freezing cold! This hasn't put us off though, and we will definitely be back for another spa!
I stayed here for one night, the hotel is clean and all staff are polite. Spacious room with a big TV and bottled water. I used the gym facilities the nigth of arrival and the morning before i left, a swim followed by a sauna and steam wee the perfect way to relax after a long day.
We decided to take a trip back to Inchyra as we had a lovely time here a few years ago, but things have changed and we felt a bit ripped off this time around. The reception staff were polite and the hotel looked lovely when we arrived, we had high hopes for our weekend away. First of all the room (111)was quite shabby, not like the 4 star we expected. The bed was 2 singles pushed together, which I know is common place, but the mattresses were different heights. We did not sleep well at all. We did ask to be moved the following morning and we were offered the only other available room in the hotel which was directly across the corridor, the bed was slightly better so we just accepted this. The wifi was poor in the rooms. There was no safe and no fridge. The room was cold and the heating didn't come on until the evening, we were there in November. The drinks prices were extortionate, it was £8-10 for a glass of wine! £5 for a cup of tea! The food in the restaurant was tasty but the portions were very small. I had ordered cordon bleu chicken, which came with some wilted spinach, no other veg or potatoes, this cost me £17, I had to pay an extra £5 for a side of fries. The breakfast was something we were really looking forward to, as we'd stayed before and thoroughly enjoyed it, but at £18 each, it wasn't worth it at all. The cooked breakfast was overdone and coffee was cold. I know that the hotel say they are priced competitively but we went to the local brewers fayre ( 2 min drive away) for breakfast on our 2nd morning and had a delicious, hot and very well priced breakfast for less than half the price. The pool and steam room/sauna were lovely but there was a fire alarm and the staff were really slow to inform us of were to go etc. We were all standing around at reception, dripping wet and no one offered robes/towels to those that didn't have any. Luckily we didn't have to go outside and got back into the pool after around 10 mins of so. Unfortunately we won't be visiting the hotel again, it certainly wasn't value for money.
We came here after visiting the nearby Kelpies at night (well worth braving the weather for!). Having stayed in modern spa hotels I came here with an expectation of a little bit of indulgence and luxury. Reception were polite and efficient and handed us our room key, very 90s I thought and on arriving at our room I found I was right. Clean, well laid out, but dated and very tired looking. A bit disappointing. Room was chilly as well but since the old style radiators are controlled by a dual, easily fixed. We had booked a table at the Scottish steakhouse restaurant in the hotel and went down a bit early for a predinner drink. The staff were polite, attentive and efficient and their Smokito cocktail is well worth a try. The meal itself was excellent, both of us opted for the marinated rump steak, which was beautifully done. The service was attentive without being fussy and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Following a sleep in a too soft (for my taste) bed we had breakfast which was very average and not overly warm. We never had time to use the gym facilities but they look well equipped and modern. The hotel needs a bit of tlc to compete with the modern spa hotels but the staff and steak grill were first class.
stayed here one night because of problem with booking at another hotel booking .com provided this as an alternative Checked in late evening friendly night porter was aware I was coming and had all my details Main complaint was breakfast in morning Table was not clean and food debris on carpets around table ordered full breakfast which was over cooked and unedible very disappointing
Stayed here on a 1 night break as a gift so did not know what we were going to .On arrival the receptionist was very friendly and new her job. The room we were in was 151 we found the room to be very comfortable and had everything needed. We were provided with bathrobes and slippers for use in the room or leisure centre. They were very comfy. We had lunch in the restaurant in our robes after we had used the leisure and spa. The leisure centre had sauna and steam room all very relaxing. The pool was nice and warm whilst the lounger were aplenty .We did not use the gym. We both had a massage superb. We had dinner which was not as goog as expected too many items sold out ?. However the breakfast was FANTASTIC. Will be returning.
Everything here is expensive, rooms, food, drink. It’s a lovely hotel, but certainly at the higher end of price range, and I’m not sure if it really justifies the cost. We attended a wedding for the day. Wouldn’t stay at hotel, premier inn round the corner for a fifth of the price!
Upon checking our room was not ready nor the extra bed that we requested. Warm welcoming reception staff. Smartly dressed and delivered a professional manner. Wonderful tasty food apart from the cheese board. They always ran out off either Oatcakes or appropriate decent size cheese. Breakfast was slow. Quick to take your drink order but we got forgotten about, even with a hungry 5 year old we had to ask a waitress to take our order after waiting 45 minutes. When the food eventually arrived it was not edible due to it being stood under a hot light. Our sins plate of Sausages had purple stains on it. When we complained the staff did act on our concerns. Thanks to the staff for making our weekend break relaxing.
We had our wedding here in August 2016. Everything was perfect! The wedding team couldn't do enough for us, everything went really well (and what didn't we will never know:). The staff were fantastic. Very accommodating hotel, nothing was trouble. Our wedding coordinator on the day was a true dream come true and his eye for detail meant that I could just pass over all decorations and ideas and he did everything brilliantly...I am sorry I don't remember his name anymore:( The morning after the wedding we had our party's breakfast together in a separate suite and everything was taken care off...plenty of food and great service! We had a great wedding here and would highly recommend to all couples looking for a great venue. Thank you Inchyra xx
