Doubletree Hotel South Bend

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The rooms were nice. A bit cramped for just two people. But the beds were very comfortable. And the bathrooms where very clean. The biggest complaint is the room overlooked the atrium. We were on the third floor and right below was a bar. The Cubs game was on and we could hear everything. We had to put the air conditioner on to try and reduce the noise.

Room by the road was a bit noisy. Great gym. Good stay overall.

Great view and close to everything downtown. Pleasant customer service and it even has a Starbucks!

I was really excited to stay at a Hilton hotel!! When I got to my room, I was completely exhausted and went to bed right away without really checking my room out. I woke up around midnight because the lights in the corridor were shining brightly into my room. I got up to close the curtain all the way and realized that I couldn't. The backing to the curtains was ripped at the end and couldn't hold the metal clips used to hold the curtains up. I went back to sleep waking up early to shower and get to my seminar and was greeted with mold in the shower. At that point, there was no reason to complain because I already slept there and I had no choice but to go ahead and shower in that. I was really disappointed. While at my seminar, I went to the downstairs bathroom by the little restaurant/bar you have and the stall I entered had no toilet paper. No spare roll but a nice fresh box of KLEENEX. I do have pictures that I took if you would like to see them.

It was the best of times we beat Mich what more could you want!!

room blinds fell off the rail.....no blinds in the room!

I wish the hotel desk had told me about the good restaurants that were within walking distance. They just handed me a brochure with a list. Aside from that gap, the staff was very friendly. They replaced my phone within five minutes. Excellent on the wake-up calls too.

First time the South Bend for a business trip and met all my expectations.

The hotel is fairly nice but showing its age. The walls are thin enough to hear the tv in the adjoining room. Sometimes brown water from the shower and overall cleanliness is not up to usual marriot standards

Definetly request a riverside room above the third floor. Below that its a bit noisy and to close to the kitchen (odors) Pavillion side lacks privacy as many rooms look out on a bank building

Room was clean and well kept only disappointment was that our room service menu was not picked up on friday night and we were unable to have breakfast as planned early saturday morning and had to leave the hotel without breakfast for the day

The hotel was not very clean, The bathtub had hair from the last guest. The drawers of the dresser were stained inside

We were thinking about staying at the new Hyatt Place in Mishawaka. However we decided to stay at the Marriot in Downtown because it's close to everything in downtown South Bend. We checked in early at the hotel so we can have the hottub, pool and sauna to ourselves. Had lunch a block away at the South Bend Chocolate Company cafe. Later we had a fabulous dinner at a 4 diamond restaurant, Lasalle Grill, right down the street. After dinner, we watch a musical across the street at the Morris Civic Theater. If you want to have a dinner and a theater date, this is the place to stay.

Stayed here while in town to see some baseball games. Decent enough hotel, overrun by wedding guests over the weekend. Good location for the College Football Hall of Fame and any other downtown attractions.

We have stayed at this Marriott three times while visiting ND. It's a good location, near good restaurants, and a very short drive to ND. Within walking distance to the College Football Hall of Fame, shops, restaurants and overlooking the river. Very friendly staff, clean rooms. Will definitely stay again!

We have stayed at this hotel over the past 12 years. This time it gave off an atmosphere of being "in trouble". Restaurant was sad, lonely and hostess was in a permanent bad mood (althought waitress was great. Toiletries weren't replenished, room was really small for the money, airconditioning system leaked and soaked floor and luggage. System has been leaking for a while, as room air wasn't good. Came home with bronchitis.

We stayed at the Marriott to attend a class reunion. The room was nice and had a good view of river and Notre Dame. The breakfast at the cafe was very good and we also liked the pub. There is underground parking which was clean and safe, but there was a 5' 8" limit, which might be a problem for some SUVs.

The Hotel was top notch. I was disappaointed when I checked out and found that I had been charged $9.00 / day for parking. (hidden charge)

This is the first hotel that charged for parking in the hotel parking lot/garage Also the first hotel to charge for local phone calls We did not take the newpaper that was delivered at the door thinking we would be charged for this too

This hotel made our stay very pleasurable. The staff quickly checked usa in and saw to our needs in a professional, courteous maner.
