The lobby staff are overwhelmed with check-in guests. You have to plead to change room to something closer to the pool for the kids to enjoy. The beds are falsely advertised as queen. There are really full size. The food is plain to inedible. Their policy for specialty restaurants is too book on day you will visit the restaurant. You can't book ahead The restaurant staff are very pleasant but their English isn't very good and they make mistakes in the orders. Most of the time you need to order drinks on your own at the bar. I've visited this resort 4 times over the past 15 years and it's been a hit and miss. Sometimes better. Someone worse . Biggest advantage is it's easy entry in to the xcaret Park
Everything was beautiful but I didn’t like that everytime you asked a staff member something they tried to hard to have you join the vacation package.

The hotel itself is really pretty. The paths to walk are very forest type. Loved the views it had and all the animals we encountered. The rooms seem a little outdated and could improve. Now what I didn’t like was their reservations to restaurants. It’s ridiculous to give people only certain amount of reservations depending on how many days you stay. It seems unfair to me when we are paying all inclusive but don’t really get all inclusive. For 3 days stay you get one reservation to one ala carte restuarant. Also, my flight had their systems down and was not allowed to check in and due to that issue was reschedule for the next day. The resort didn’t care and wouldn’t even give me another day of reservations to a restuarant even though I paid for an extra day which didn’t even end up staying. Didn’t get any money back as well since didn't stay all days due to the airline issue. Resort didn’t want to hear it/didn’t cared.
The resort was amazing the pools are amazing the staff is always friendly and ready to help. The check in and check out was fast. The beach area is great to have a good time and enjoy sunrise. Only feed back will be around the time share information was not need.
The facility was beautiful and location was amazing! Pros: Very family friendly and we will definitely be back to experience more with our children (not a good option for disabled or elderly though). The restaurant food was decent, preferred the buffet more actually. Cons: Walls are very thin and you can hear literally everything around you. The cleaners did the bare minimum... When we stayed we had to request clean towels every day, even after the room was detailed. The sheets were never changed which should be a priority with sandy dirty floors, the fridge was never restocked even when asked, and there was a lot of poop on the deck and chairs (patio area).

Very convenient to xcaret. Nice beach. Great buffets. Disappointed that ala carte restaurants needed reservations that were time consuming to get and only allowed 2 dinners for a 5 night stay. We would come again.

Beautiful property, Grounds are kept in immaculate condition, you can see monkeys, deer and other animals roaming around the property. The staff is very nice & friendly. The location is right next to Park Xcaret, with in itself is a go to destination.
Do not get me wrong, the property is beautiful, plenty of wildlife roaming around freely, and lots to see (minus the fenced enclosed flamingos 😢). Huge resort, plan to walk a lot, or wait for the cart to stop by every 15 minutes or so. THE BAD: My family and I were stuck at this resort for 2 days without AC and were not informed about the AC and electrical issues they were experiencing until after we were checking in. The issues started days prior to our arrival and continued throughout our week stay. No refund, no accommodations, or option to be transferred to one of their many other nearby properties. We were forced to stay in unbearable hot rooms. Even after the “AC” was turned back on, the AC didn’t cool for the rest of the week, and rooms were HOT. Management just hid and had the workers give us the run around stating the AC would be fixed soon, as guests lost it because nothing was being done. You would think a resort of this size would have back up plans and be more efficient in situations like this. The AC in the restaurants weren’t working either, so again, HOT and sweaty while having breakfast, lunch, and dinner. OH but Premium level had beautiful AC. I had always chosen Barcelo for my trips, but thanks to whoever manages this resort, and a torture of a vacation, I will be trying out other brands and never returning to this resort.
