MANY outstanding dining options within walking distance. Easy access to mass transit. Accommodating, friendly staff. Many nearby shopping venues (including grocery). Highly recommend!!!

I would stay here again. Clean, very helpful staff, good location close to Union Square, and a good price.

Nice room, right in Chinatown short walk to BIG mall and BART

Word is the nicer rooms are on upper floors. I did not stay on the upper floors. Hotel has super-friendly staff and great location. Room left much to be desired. Hard bed, dusty room, and hearing everything from nearby rooms made for tough start to the night. There are lots of really nice, competitively-priced hotels nearby...

Great location is the only positive point. No sheets on beds, TV not working, staff could not speak english. We had a connecting door to the room next to us and the door knob was put on backwards, we had no lock on our side. The blinds were dusty, it was just disgusting. They would not let us cancel otherwise we would have. The bed was as hard as a rock. The most awful hotel experience I have ever had. We begged to cancel and were refused. Thank god we only spent a few hours in the room to sleep.

the best thing about this hotel is its location; it is very close to the union square. staffs were kind and nice. However, there are a few shortcomings; first, you can hear the noise of walking from the aisle or the floors. second, the springs of the beds were not good; lastly, I could not find any temperature controlling system such as airconditioner or heater.

The room was very very small and there was no view from the windows, but I didn't really mind. However, the towels and pillow sheets provided didn't look clean because there were multiple stains on them and had me wondering if I was going to get lice or get bitten from a bed bug. Also the walls are very thin and there are huge gaps around the door so you can hear everything in other rooms and in the hallways. It was also frustrating that no microwaves and small fridge were provided or the ability to change the temperature of the room.

Great location right by gate to Chinatown. Short walk to Union Square and Northbeach. Room was small but clean. Great price. Staff was very friendly, especially Sara. Gave good recommendations and worked to let us check in early. I will definitely try to stay here again next time I go to the city.

This hotel is located in the entrance of Chinatown if you are coming from Union Square. The lobby has a very modern look and the staff is very friendly. The room was kind of small and it look very old but the bathroom was updated and modern as well. The room and bathroom were clean but the view form the inside rooms is terrible. This is a good choice if you are looking for a clean, conveniently located and affordable place to stay in San Francisco. This hotel is located right in the middle between Union Square and Chinatown. The Powell St Bart (metro/train) station is about 5 blocks (10 minutes walking) from the hotel and all the shopping and restaurant are near by. The area is very secure, I didn't had any issues with that and the public transportation options close by are endless. If you are a traveler who just want a clean and a conveniently located place to stay in San Francisco with easy access to public transportation this is the perfect spot for you.

Checkin in was easy. Got a good price. The rooms are a bit on the small side but very clean and look great. Frint desk was very helpful and willing to assist with our needs. Room has all you need just like any hotel. Given the location there wasn't that much street noise. Lots of great places located near the hotel. I would definitely stay there again especially for the price.

All the people in other rooms and hallway you can hear them in your room like their inside your room. People taking showers in the evening at 9pm you can hear it so loud in the room. And not to mention no AC luckily it's winter and had to leave the windows open.

Renovated. Clean. Just what i needed as a bed, toilet, shower. Had extra blankets, so I didn't need to call desk to ask for the heater to be tuned on...not thermostatic...water pipes. TV worked fine. Lobby computer-printer was slow, but i was able to print my boarding pass. No restaurant. I have stayed here at least 5 times over the year. Very convenient to Chinatown and Market Street. Great when I need a bare-bones @ budget in this neighborhood. Recommend if this is what you need. Definitely get the best rate or you will be disappointed.

Let's start off with the bed, Totally wornned down . While laying on the middle of the bed, the mattress actually sinks in. A bad nights sleep a bad vacation.

ry small room. No drawers for your clothes, small closet that hardly can feet your suit case. Internet hardly worked. Bed sheets were not changed ones. Towels that have original color as white, had gray color in reality. Bed sheets had spots that make you feel you sleep on dirty sheets. Hotel under renovation, so there is no place to have coffee, or eat something. Parking is very expensive, and far from hotel. There is small parking place on street that you can use no more than 5 minutes. I was not happy with this hotel.

The location is great. Other than that everything was just ok.

Great location right in the heart of San fran. Chinatown is a little seedy at night but nothing too dangerous. If you're looking to stay in the heart of the city, this is a great spot. The hotel rooms are very basic. If you're going to sightsee and explore the city this shouldn't be too much of a problem but I'd you're thinking of spending time in your room I would choose another hotel. Staff was mostly helpful and the room was clean. It's pretty loud at night next to the road but that's the cost of staying in the heart of the city.

Stayed at this hotel in early February 2015. Honestly there isn't many positive things to say about this hotel. It's pretty old with a dated decor. The only thing good about it is it's location right at the entrance to China Town. The room & bathroom were small. The bed was really uncomfortable and there was constant noise from the outside. For roughly $120 per night, this was super expensive & not worth it.

I visited San Francisco for a work conference and chose to stay at the Grant Plaza for five nights. A colleague and I shared a room with two twin beds, and while the hotel lacked some of the amenities of nicer hotels (e.g. no breakfast, heat seemed to turn on only at night, relatively low shower heads), everything was clean and we had few complaints. The location was great- right at the edge of Chinatown, only a 20 minute walk to the bay and a couple blocks to Market Street and the Financial District. I had little interaction with the staff, but they were efficient during our check-in and check-out. So if you are on a budget and are truly ok with a no-frills hotel, this is definitely a place to consider.

Convenient location. Website put this hotel in the Union Square neighborhood but It is located in the China town.

I booked this hotel knowing it was cheap. The location was great and easy to walk to and explore the whole city! The room however was pretty depressing. It was small, the bed was super uncormfortable and the bathroom was very small, dirty and had mould. If I had my time again I would pay more and stay somewhere else. If you are just looking for a cheap place that you don't plan on spending much time in then this place will work.
