Econo Lodge Civic Center

The proprietors were exceptionally friendly. They and the staff gave us excellent customer service. The room was newly remodeled. Everything professionally finished. Not a patch up job. The comfortable beds had fitted sheets. How nice is that? The personal fixtures all worked as they should. Very quiet between rooms. We were having such a great time, we stayed another night past the 3 we had already spent.

The hotel is clean and conveniently located next to route 581. It is operated by the owners and they are very nice and friendly. There is nothing fancy with the hotel, just as expected for an Econo Lodge, but I will definitely stay here again. They also include a continental breakfast with juice, cereal, coffee, pastries, and bagels. It is clean and comfortable. I would recommend it.

The hotel was great for passing through Virginia. The price was affordable and there was even continental breakfast! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and also attentive to any needs or concerns.

Everything was good for the price. Convenient location.i was able to get to downtown easily. I wish the front desk person had given me the wifi code though because I only found out about wifi at checkout. Water pressure in the shower was good.

Walked into room and immediately saw a centipede on the bed. Room was filthy and it looked as though the sheets weren't even changed. Also, the bathroom was so disgusting with mold and dirt in it. The area itself was bad and shady too! Manager did give me a different room, but it was barely any better. I am not one much to complain, but this was disgusting and wish I could get my money returned to me.

If you're looking for a fancy hotel with a gym, pool, conference rooms, spa, bar, restaurant, etc...just keep looking. This is for the budget-concious traveller who wants to be close to things. You can walk to the old town center in about a half hour. And the hotel is easily accessible from Hwy 581. The rooms are spare but decent. The shower head is a bit too low. But you get your money's worth.

Econo Lodge Civic Center should be condemned! I have never in my 50 years of living seen anything as discussed as this "hotel". The room smelled like vomit and dirty diapers. The beds were about 2-3 feet off of the floor. The towels were supposed to be white however they were light black. I refused to stay there and I demanded a refund.

We only stayed for one night, so everything was great for that night. Not sure I understand why you couldn't back in to a parking space there. Also, the room had a bit of a weird smell. The room was clean, the bed was good, and the air condition/heater worked well. The shower was nice and hot with good pressure; the toilet handle had to be held for a little bit for a flush; the TV was large and the channels were good. It was fairly quiet, considering how close we were to I581. In order to get to the hotel, you had to be traveling North on Route 460. If you needed to go South (to the Civic Center or downtown) you had to go North on 460, then exit onto 581 South, then get off a couple exits up onto Route 11. All these places were within walking distance, but it was raining, so we had to go this route every time to get to the Civic Center/Downtown Roanoke. Overall, a good place to stay for the price.

Pleasant visit near downtown Roanoke. Very comfortable.

I was looking for the cheapest place in town. And I got what I expected. It was clean, and the continental breakfast consisted of coffee with powdered creamer and overly sweet small prepackaged pastries.

The room smelled of tobacco and urine. We should have left immediately; however, we were tired from our travels. The bathroom had tiles hanging from the wallboard at the base; the toilet seat had the wrong size to fit the fixture; no shampoo was in the room; the room was generally dirty; paint peeled from the door frames; a cover-up plate was placed over a hole in the bathroom door. Any Econo Lodge will now be off my hotel choice.

We had left some clothing in the dresser and when I called the next day, they said nothing had been found. I find this hard to believe. I also understand that this was our responsiblity too. Since we were there due to the shooting at VT, since our son is a sophmore there, our focus wasn't as sharp as it normally is. We would stay there again should the opportunity arise.
