The hotel is outdated and poorly maintained. General aspect is vintage at best while service, food and drinks are average at best. Rooms are smelly and moldy. The curtains were stained and greasy, not even all bulb lights were working and we don’t even have a fridge bar in the room. The pillows smell bitterly. Staff is rude with few exceptions. Being neutral and honest, you just don’t get the value you paid for.

The room was very dated and not a 4 star. The food was very basic, utilizing any leftovers as best they could. We had to buy beer and water for the room as their “all inclusive” does not include stocking your fridge. No room service was available. No able coffee or filters in the room, nor a coffee pot but 2 coffee cups. Although they considered our late arrival an opportunity to upgrade us from “mountain view” to a suite, the suite did not come with any cutlery, dishes or any regular amenities found in suites. We are not picky travellers and an opportunity to be out of snow is always welcome, however this resort is not what we have experienced at many other resorts. If you want to save your hard earned money and have a better experience, book elsewhere.

NO Kitchen, rooms are so far away with NO Elevator. Old & Crusty Hotel. Would Not Stay there ever again. Pictures are so far from the truth of what this is really like. Some and I do men some staff were great, others lazy, we speak Spanish, English problem they do not Americans. Dinner reservations are a complete joke.

The staff at the resort were great but the resort could use some TLC. Our room did not have a safe and we requested one twice but they never did provide us with one. It looked like the previous one had been ripped from the wall. The toilet in our room leaked water onto the floor, we let the front desk know but the issue wasn't fixed during our stay. Our showerhead had zero pressure and the water basically leaked out of it, I ended up getting my hair braided on the beach because washing my hair without a funtioning shower wasn't going to work, I brought this forward to the front desk and they said they would look into it but it was never fixed. The food at the resort has gone down hill, I stayed at Canto Del Sol in 2006 and was disappointed by the main buffet as they didn't have as many options as they used to have and the quality was not there, things weren't always fresh and you could tell they were cutting costs as there usually was only one meat option available. On our last day, we didn't have to leave for the airport until 4pm but we were prevented from suntanning and using beach chairs owned by the resort which was a disappointment as well, we were told we were only allowed to sit in the lobby. It is a lower-cost all-inclusive and it is an older resort but I still think they could improve on some things.

Our second time visiting this resort. The staff is amazing. The rooms are old and dated but you don’t spend a lot of time in there so doesn’t bother me. The buffet has lots of options. The restaurants are delicious. Quick bus ride to the malecon to enjoy some local sights and eats.

A good portion of their staff were racist. Some refusing to help us, some were disgusted they had to and the ones that did help us made it very clear that they did not want to. Some of the guests were equally as racist. Very uncomfortable. Food was sub-par and inconsistent at the buffet. The buffet would start out with a spread and as it went along nothing would stay the same like they had to scramble to get dishes together. And the reservation only restaurants... Not even close to the cuisine they're cooking for. I wouldn't even bother. Disgusting. Having graduated from the CIA in upstate New York. I know a thing or two about food. I upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite (said sleeps 4) and the picture showed 1 king bed which would've been great. My wife and i in the room, which I had planned on,and the kids in the main room. Instead they stuck us with 2 full beds. Not even queens. Just fulls. My son slept on the couch for 10 days and we rotated beds so every few days we get a decent night's sleep. The resort itself was nice. It was clean. Beautiful trees. Wildlife running around some minor upkeep needed to be done but it's like everywhere. And if you left those kiddos behind to escape them and get some alone time by yourself don't even bother. The ratio was like one to one. Nuff said.. I would never go back nor recommend.

The staff was the only good thing about this hotel everything else was terrible. The "All-inclusive" isnt what you expect, the hotel gives you a coupon for 1 single a la carte meal for every 2 day stay, not even an option to purchase more and its based on availability and if there isnt availability you can only eat at the buffet with limited options and they dont have alot of variety, also the swim up bar was closed and everything closes early at the hotel, no vending machines to buy snacks or anything so this "All-inclusive" hotel really isnt an all-inclusive hotel. So i really advice not to reserve at this hotel and save the headaches

I could rate this property a"Zero" due to safety and security issue - there is no telephone in the room, nor any house phones in hallways. I reported this the first thing upon checkin, the usual "Oh, i will make a report" line was thrown in, i knew something was a missed, then i found out on that same night from other staff that, that entire wing due to last storm that damaged the lines so no phones !; therefore she knew about this, the hotel knew about this, yet they sold me this unit ! Thinking i will be moved to another room with phone, as i said i have medical issue. On day 3, i asked about the status of my report. As expected i was given the scripted run-around-the mulberry bush speach which i refused to listened, so just turned away. I thought of checking out that minute, but i knew they will never give refund. This satey and security issue made me feel unsafe in this facility. I could not understand why they would ignore this key issue as it voilates the basic hotel rule of safety and security of guests
