My parents have been telling me about the beauty and class of this hotel for the past 30 years, and the moment we walked into the serene courtyard--our hopes were high. The public rooms were worthy of the reputation of the hotel--beautiful and classic. The main desk was efficient and professional, without being particularly interested or engaged--and as we arrived before the official 3:00 check-in, were directed to an excellent bistrot, "Les Editeurs", down the street to grapple with jet lag and have an excellent snack. So--for our room. That is the rub. It was brand new, and showed it. It was not, however, pretty. It was brown, and dark on the first level--with pedestrian sofas and an odd layout. Great (two) bathrooms--but again, not sumptuous by any stretch. The finishing details were not high end--really anywhere in the bedrooms--things we notice in hotels in this class. The upper level was interesting--and that to me is not generally a good word in a suite. It was in attic space that allowed me to really smack my head (on more than one occasion) on the beam between the sleeping area and the upstairs bathroom--again, highly functional, not beautiful. The soaps/sundry toiletries were delightful. Plenty of room to hang and put clothes away. So my review? We stay at a comparable hotel in London, and the front door is always opened for us, the front staff snaps to attention, and a genuine inquiry as to how my day is going is always made. French service, generally run by non French nationals, has to have been trained far better--and a knowledgable interior decorator should have been hired. You can not beat the location-- close to just about everything (ok, so the Eiffel Tower was a hike)...and spanking new and clean.

Relais Christine lived up to the great recommendations we had received, a restful, elegant, luxurious retreat in a perfect location. Staff were very friendly and helpful, provided us with museum tickets and information and helped with dinner reservations. Coming back from a long day in a hot city, just entering the lovely courtyard makes you feel good, and coming into the quiet, beautiful, perfectly clean room was just what we needed. Stayed 5 nights -- this is now definitely where we will stay in Paris every time.

Relais Christine was the perfect option for our recent trip to Paris! Recent renovations are stunning, staff couldn't be more helpful and the location was perfect to walk to most major sites. If you want a luxurious yet low key hotel, Relais Christine is it.

Third visit to this wonderful boutique hotel - now with renovated big spaces (not that it needed it really). Attentive staff and wonderful concierge Victoria. Breakfast in the vaulted cellar every morning a must. We were super impressed that they rang forward to our next hotel to make sure we and the missing luggage arrived.

the suite we had was so tiny that we had to kneel under the shower, go sideways up the stairs, sleep with our feet outside the stamp-sized bed, etc... other than that the hotel is charming and the location perfect. the hotel breakfast is lousy value for money, with precooked scrambled eggs and soggy bacon... get a croissant, an orange juice and a cup of coffee at a local café insted - twice as goos, half the price and so parisian

What a breathe of fresh air and such a nice change from chain hotels. Relais Christine is a boutique hotel which oozes character and personality. The staff we encountered we all so friendly and helpful. The rooms were amazing each with its own decor, but all to an opulent and very beautiful standard. The public rooms are stunning and there is a honesty bar, which is a nice touch. If you are staying near Pont Neuf or Sant Germain, I can't recommend this place enough. A real gem.

A great boutique hotel just a few short blocks from all that you need. Quiet, clean, and a very accommodating staff. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a different experience in the heart of the city to stay here.

Relais Christine is in itself an extra reason to visit Paris! Princely premises and a staff like no other. Polite, efficient, professional, responsible. Charmed by the whole experience. A hidden treasure fit for the Connoisseur!

We reserved this room in February. WE wrote in advance and asked for a room with a view of the garden. When we arrived on June 20th, the manager told us no garden view rooms were available; he even implied that it was our fault because we came at such a busy time of year. Our room was In the attic. We had to climb 15 steps to get to it every time we opened our door. IT not only had no view of the garden, it had no view at all, because our windows were only skylights. We could not open them, so no fresh air was available, and we saw no view, only sky. THis room cost over $700 PER NIGHT. In retrospect I can say the management was unsympathetic, peremptory, dismissive, unfriendly and abrupt. There is also an honor bar there where guests are told the can help themselves to a drink and leave their room #. One evening, seeing no waiter around, I poured myself a glass of wine. Suddenly a very irate waiter appeared, looking as though I had just raided his liquor cabinet. This is not a welcoming attitude toward guests. Overall I felt like an interloper at a place where the management jumped to assist wealthier looking guests and dismissed us as not worth pleasing. The maids who cleaned were very nice. I sent an extensive review to the hotel and Expedia reporting this negative experience, but it must have been suppressed because I cannot find it on either website. This was a big disappointment to us. I cannot recommend Relais Christine. THey will undoubtedly try to unload their undesirable rooms on anyone with whom they think they can get away with it.

i booked this hotel because i wanted something off the beaten path, away from the typical right bank tourist attractions and i got what i was looking for. not only is relais christine on a quiet street, but if you walk a few blocks, you are in a cool, hip neighborhood which comes to life at night. the hotel is charming. it is small with a beautiful entrance with gardens and seating. upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly desk staff. there is a sitting, lounge area with newspapers and books to borrow. the decor around the hotel is very french and upscale. our room was on the top floor (3). we had a duplex with our bedroom on the top and the bathroom downstairs. this was a little bit of a challenge because of nightly trips to the bathroom, but for 2 nights, it was fine. the room was decorated beautifully and it was very comfortable. above our bed was a skylight window with an automatic shade and open/closure buttons. the bed was very comfortable. downstairs, besides the bathroom was a sitting area with a couch and desk. again, very comfortable. the biggest problem with the room was the shower. i dont understand why european hotels use half of a glass shower door. how do they expect us to shower without getting water all over the bathroom? needless to say, we went through a lot of towels to soak up all of the water on the floor. as i said, the neighborhood is wonderful with many local restaurants and shops that come to life, especially as night. we were there on a saturday night and it was bustling well after we went to bed (around 1am) with nice looking people, all having fun. the hotel is a perfect couple of blocks away so that you dont hear the noise from those places. the hotels offers a spa, jacuzzi and sauna. we went down to check them out only to find that the sauna and jacuzzi were both cold! there was no staff around there at the time we were there, so we couldnt figure out if they needed a switch to turn them on or how to work them, so we left. that was a disappointment. i found out at check out that breakfast wasnt included (which was my fault since i had forgotten). regardless, i thought the price of what was offered, mostly continental breakfast, was high. if i had known, i probably would have just gone out and had a croissant for breakfast at one of the local shops. small negatives, but mostly positive for this hotel. i would definitely recommend it and would return.
