Hotel Carlton's Montmartre4.0 out of 5.0

My wife and I traveled to Paris to see Jimmy Buffett, who by the way put on an amazing concert. When we travel our main requirements for a hotel are that it is clean and safe. We don't care about having a view and prefer to spend our time and money on experiences, not fancy hotels with impressive names. Qualys Carltons Hotel Paris met all those requirement and so much more. The location was perfect for us, just across the street from the theater with plenty of bistros, food stores, bakeries and other shops all around the neighborhood. The Pigalle metro stop is a block and a half away. Both Sacre-Coeur and Moulin Rouge are only a short walk from the hotel. If you walk down to the Moulin Rouge with any children, be prepared to explain what a Sexadrome is. Maybe it is better to just stick with the walk up to Sacre-Coeur. It took us less than an hour to get to the airport using the metro and the train. A little longer coming to the hotel because we had to buy our metro passes. The week pass is good Monday morning through Sunday night no matter what day of the week you buy it and be sure to get your picture at one of the photo booths, 5 Euros and don't believe it if it claims to give change, put your picture on it and sign it. 30 Euro fine if you don't. While our room was small by U.S. standards, it was still more than adequate and had a good view of Sacre-Coeur. Bonus. Do not miss the view from the top of the Hotel! It is possibly one of the best in all of Paris. Particularly at night. Sacre-Coeur on one side, the Tour Eiffel on the other. Watch the sun set. You will be impressed if not moved. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and spoke much better English than we spoke French. There is free Wifi, but it is not on 24hrs. Most days it was turned on about 0600 and turned off around 2230 (6am - 10:30pm). Mostly. Ask the desk clerk for your messages even if you don't think you have any. If you don't, you may not get them. Breakfast was included and good. Eggs, sausage, cereal, beans, sliced ham and salami, bread, pastries, juice and plenty of good strong coffee. If the Qualys Carltons Hotel is available the next time I go to Paris, I will stay there with out hesitation.
Spacious clean and comfortable - breakfast ok. Great location for seeing the sites and in an affordable section of Paris.
Small room, clean, great location, nice staff. Would stay again
The hotel was described on the site as something special, but it was really just a place to put down our things and get out as fast as possible... the room (despite being labeled "deluxe") was tiny, barely space for luggage around the bed. The staff highly unfriendly and unhelpful..
