Located in the southern plains of North America, Oklahoma City is a fantastic place to enjoy the outdoors with your pet. Since public transportation is not great, it is best to hire a car to make the most of the easy navigable roads. The Wild West it may once have been, but now Oklahoma City is home to far more genteel sights and sounds and steals the heart of many a visitor every day.
You and your pet will be offered a wonderfully warm welcome down at the OKC Paw Park, a sprawling spot with two big areas for dogs to stretch their legs as well as a ‘lake’ for them to splash about in. If you want something a little prettier, head to the Myriad Botanical Gardens. Here, you can walk through manicured gardens with your pooch and stop to hydrate at one of the doggy watering stations. Generally, it is a great spot for photography and a quaint picnic break.
In case your pet likes a bit of a challenge, head to the Fred Quinn Happy Tails Dog Park, which has ample trails and bridges over creeks as well as plenty of connecting park space for your pet to run around in. The perfect park to tire your pup out, you will be ready to sit down and eat a hearty meal when you are done.
Overlooking Lake Hefner, which is also pet friendly, Louie’s Grill & Bar serves up unpretentious American home-food such as ribs, chicken wings, and fried pickles. Pair these lovely meals with a thirst-quenching margarita and your day will have ended on an especially delightful note.
