Things to do
The Hess Collection Winery and Art Museum

Established by Donald Hess, this is one of the top-rated wineries to visit in the area. The building is located on a historical site, and was built by the masons in 1903. It is worth seeing for the architectural design alone. The winery is joined by the Hess art collection, consisting mostly of world contemporary art, which is a great way for people to combine their love of art and wine. On-site wine tasting comes with a delectable pairing of cheeses and chocolates as well.

The Uptown Theater

The Uptown Theater is Napa's hotspot for live entertainment. Physically, this is one of the most majestic theaters in California, transporting visitors to the Hollywood’s “Golden Era.” Visitors can practically see all the movie premieres this theater once hosted, and a guest can spend hours just looking at the detailed ceiling. The Uptown went under remodeling in 2002 into a live performance theater, but it still has that old magic feel to it. Catering to all different sorts of acts, one can see plays, comedians, musical performances and more. Hosting famous musicians such as Chris Isaak and Dwight Yoakam, notable comedians like Dana Carvey, and even notable writers such as David Sedaris, this exquisite theater is a definite must-go location when in Napa.

Napa Valley Wine Train

One of the most popular activities is the three-hour train ride that starts in Napa and journeys through some of Northern California’s most prominent wine valleys. You can choose either a freshly prepared lunch or dinner meal while you board this fully-restored 1917 Pullman car.

Napa Hotels

The area is home to many beautiful lodges and hotels. Stay in luxury resorts for as much as $400 a night—which feature all the accommodations one could hope for—or quaint inns for $110 a night. The average rate for most hotels in Napa is around $130 a night. Most of the hotels, including the high-end ones, tend to offer deals for those booking in advance online.

Climate

During the winter, the highs average between 50 and 60 degrees with lows averaging out at 37 degrees. The cold front usually ranges from the end of November until the beginning of March. It is most likely to rain during the month of February, but after that, chances of precipitation drop drastically.
