The Mimosa Hotel

This Hotel is a good value for your money. It's approximately 4 miles from South Beach where all the action is but easy enough to get to by taxi or bus (both of which are 1 block away from hotel - taxi stop and bus stop). The hotel is not fancy but very decent. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and roomy enough. The pool area is nice with cabanas and lounge chairs. The pool is not heated but a nice enough size for swimming. The beach access is great and there is a biking, running path that runs directly adjacent to the beach which is great. There is a strip north of hotel with a bunch of different ethnic restaurants, a seafood restaurant, a steakhouse, Mexican, Brazilian, an American Tavern with burgers, wings etc.. all within walking distance as well as a few beach shops with souvenirs. The hotel adjacent to Mimosa had construction going on which was very loud and annoying (jack-hammering all day). This of course is not Mimosa's fault, but it was not relaxing sitting by the pool and even on the beach you could hear it. Although the staff was attentive, the service was never done with a smile and the gentleman at the front desk just seemed unhappy to be there. Maybe it's just his personality that's not warm but I feel that when one is in a customer service related job - the service should always be done with a smile and friendly nature. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience.

I was disappointed when I first walked into the Mimosa hotel. It is older and it is short. My window looked into the cement wall of a neighboring hotel. The room was clean. The bathroom was small. The TV was ludicrously small! I laughed out loud. My room had a small kitchenette, with a microwave, sink, coffee maker and small refrigerator and that was a nice surprise. Also, they only charged for night parking, so although I stayed for three days, I only paid for two nights of parking! That was a nice perk. The beach was beautiful and literally right outside the backdoor of the Mimosa. I considered taking a dip in their pool, but it was dirty. :( Overall, I think I would stay at a 4 star Fort Lauderdale hotel and drive in, versus paying more for the Mimosa.

The price of the hotel is what attracted me to this one. The outside is nothing special compared to the other hotels on the beach; so when we pulled up i was hoping i wouldn't regret getting this one. once we got to the room, they were clean and had tile floors. From a guys p.o.v. i though it was ok (stayed in worse). From a women's POV, shower was clean but the vanity was small. the location was great, a block away from more restaurants than you could ever want. the spa was located a half block away (couldnt figure that out bc the place was suppose to be a "hotel and spa" but they weren't attached...)

We arrived 1 1/2 hours before 3PM check in. Other people were checking in, but I was told that our room was not ready. OK. We came back at 2:40 and room was not ready. We sat in the lobby until 3 and asked if the room was ready and "Oh ya, sure." They made us wait until exactly 3:00. That seemed so petty to me, it ruined any chance of me liking the hotel. The room was smaller than any I have seen. The bath tub was not clean. We could have had a view of the ocean if the windows were not so filthy. Window A/C unit, no heat, and it was cold. Very inconvenient to come and go as there is only 1 elevator and it is at opposite end of building. I saw no roaches. That's the best I can say.

no help at arrival the view vas a parking wall we change the room for partial ocean view then it is the construction noise at the end no big deal

The hotel is nice and neat, but we were charged nearly $200 per room plus $20 for parking across the street. Too much for the hotel on 65th street and Collins. Other than that, everything was very nice, clean, and the staff was very helpful. Thank you!

we walk around the places restaurants and store around the hotel.we missed to have a casino close to the area, but the public transportation was very god,we were able to get to a different places by a taxi, by bus because it was just right there by the hotel, the hotel was small that we though, but is very cozy and is fantastic family gateway.

Decent hotel, a short cab ride to South Beach and really close to the bus stop, which for $2 each was was not bad at all. The beach is beautiful and the rooms are a bit small, but nice and cozy. It's in a nice area with stores and restaurants with in walking distance.

I only stayed one night on business, but the hotel was simple and clean. I think calling it a "luxury" hotel may be a stretch, but for an affordable location on the beach it works. Parking is expensive, but no more so than anywhere else on Miami Beach.

We got to the hotel early and our room was ready to go, which was very nice, parking was easy and the pool are was very nice. Access to the beach was perfect and we loved the room. Very clean and relaxing.

This is my second stay at the MImosa. Pros: Great location, Great walkability to local restaurants, Great beach acces, Great contemporary design and Great cleaning standards! Cons: In general a friendlier staff would create a great experience. Staff doesn't really greet you and food staff doen't smile at all. Continental breakfast is a cup of weak coffee and toast. That should be improved....at least offer a fruit.

From check in to check out this clean, quiet, modern hotel had everything we could have wanted, including a two person spa in the room. The room was simple, and nicely decorated. The staff was great, extremely friendly. The pool area is very nice and the beach access is great and uncrowded. This hotel is in North Beach, so you have to drive 6-7 miles if you want to do SoBe. We choose it to get away to somewhere quiet and we weren't disappointed.

Room size is adequate but has no dresser. Only "drawer space" is a small cubby with 5 shelves located in the closet. Room lighting is minimal. We could not locate any heat or air conditioning controls. On request the desk sent up a portable space heater. Bathroom was adequate with a pleasant jacuzzi tub. Desk staff was pleasant. Parking for a vehicle is an additional $18 a day. No in room desk but a small table exists. No computer connections. Overall it is clean and neat looking but not adequate for a business couple or family looking for a really comfortable spot.

I didn't have high expectations about the mimosa hotel. Surprisingly i was satisfied with the hotel because the staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and fair in size, the decor was modest, but not so bad. I would say that it was money well spent on the hotel. Its not an upscale type of place, but at least its safe, clean, nice friendly enviroment, and the rates are very affordable too, oh by the way there were no hidden charges at the Mimosa Hotel, in the past i stayed at another hotel that end up charging my card more money for amenities that i wasnt even aware of.

Planned to come down to Miami to enjoy the weekend with my partner. We were celebrating an anniversary. To be honest, I was afraid of the hotel after I read so many negative reviews about it. Despite some people's reviews the staff were friendly and attentive when we needed them. Then again, we didn't expect (or desire) to be treated with hugs and kisses when we arrived. We prepared for the thin walls and ceilings (they are indeed thin) by bringing earplugs with us. Avoided beach towel rental fees by bringing our own. No continental breakfast, so we budgeted for food depending on places to eat in the area and money for snacks from the nearby Walgreens. Also, we avoided parking fees (anywhere in Miami Beach is expensive) by budgeting for bus fare to and from North Beach (where the hotel is located) to South Beach. Pros: Beautiful, clean rooms. Awesome beach access. Great location to restaurants and necessities, then take the L or S bus to Lincoln Rd in South Beach to party, dine, shop, etc. Don't forget to get singles for the $2 bus fare, though. They only take exact change. Cons: I can't think of any reasonable disadvantages. Maybe not the best place to stay if you're on Miami Beach to party and then walk back to your hotel. An awesome hotel for the price.

The hotel room did not look like the Internet, which was in my opinion overpriced. The TV was a small 13 inch TV and there was no temperature settings where we could adjust the settings. It was either cold or hot. There were also 2 FULL size beds which was uncomfortable for 2 adults! Extremely noisy during the day with running and walls paper thin! The parking was $20.00 per day which was expensive and limited! The pool was beautiful! The service was excellent except for the night staff, poor customer service. The hotel was convenient to a couple of pizza places and a Walgreens, but the other stores were on the 42 Street Corridor and Collins.

this was comfortable

I would not pay over $100 for the standard room. One of the A/C units was out; we were not informed of this upon check-in. Our room was a sauna, they couldn't guarantee when it would be fixed and wouldn't let us out of that nights stay; we were provided one of those slender modern fans, I think an old box one would've worked better. I'm from the South, so I'm used to the heat. I was sweating 2 minutes after taking a shower. I would have given better reviews if this hadn't happened. The amenities were pretty standard. The rooms are pretty small, so if you're claustrophobic I wouldn't recommend. It is kind of far away from other activity. There are no umbrella/chair rentals near the hotels beach area. Pool area looked pretty nice though. We moved to the Holiday Inn the next day, so much better!

The Mimosa is a quaint little hotel in North Miami Beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were the perfect size. The pool is great both at night time and in the day. The water was cool. The area around the pool was a great place relax in the evening with some wine or food or both. The only real complaint I had was that the rooms get very cold, but I had read reviews that had stated this and was prepared.
