On ordering a round of 5 drinks with friends, we were 'reliably' informed not to worry about the cost by waitresses as "it's not that much" When presented with the bill of $391 dollars for the one round, we were pretty astonished (after counting out the money 4 times) that after the waitress took the money away she came back with the cash to tell us we were $40 (irrespective of a tip). When offering to pay the rest by card, she took the card and original cash off to the register, only to come back and say they'd "already closed the account" and we'd "have to pay the rest by cash too" Absolutely conned due to being English or tourists... 100% the last time I trust any hosting staff.
I stayed in an ocean view recently renovated room and it was drop dead gorgeous! Every detail of the room was incredible from the lovely lighting to the waterfall shower head, mattress felt like memory foam... I woke up on cloud nine surrounded my plush feather pillows... had a nice soak in the beautiful tub and ultimately a wonderful stay. It's right in the heart of everything literally across the street from the beach and lots of shopping and restaurants nearby no need to drive! Valet parked your car and just explore! Cons: hotel is not sound proof so if you came to sleep or get r-n-r this may not be for you, but if you plan to stay up a little late go out and have a good time party and then turn in late to an incredible space then this is the spot for you!!!
The hotel is located in one of the most noisy areas, and it’s hard to find as on both side they are have restaurant/bars and you need to walk in a little courtyard all the way in the back with practically no signs. Eventually to find the door which lead into the “lobby” 6 x 6 at the most with a desk…welcome to reception…one person working the phones, the faxes and eventually after 10 -15 minutes standing there you are addressed…No you cannot have the room early, no you cannot check out late…we will call you when the room is ready…not happening…we went for lunch and around 330pm returned and got the keys. We were lucky got the 5th floor…aww if you need to drop your luggage they are kept at this receptions and you need to bring them up to the room…don’t wait for any assistance…the elevator sounds little a kitty crying going up or down. The room was a great size and has a veranda so we can thankful for that, the balcony doors don’t work well, the furniture are very very very tired, but we have a king bed and a large rom in need or renovations. We stayed one night as it was over Memorial weekend and we wanted to have easy access to the beach. Don’t expect much for the price…at least it was clean.
I called over 2 weeks in advance to ask if there was anything I needed to provide besides my ID and major credit card. When I got there, they charged me a surprise $200 security deposit, there was construction going on that started every morning at 8 AM. So me and my guest could not sleep in. There was no mention of "no hotel parking" on their website or when I called them. Hotel staff was rude and incompetent, they couldn't figure out how to get my room safe open, leaving my ipad locked in there for over a day. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE, THERE ARE MUCH BETTER PLACES IN SOUTH BEACH.
Rude front desk staff, Loud music downstairs, Extremely terrible smell on 3rd floor coming off elevator (smelled like urine). Bathroom had 1 towel...we called to ask front staff to bring us a few more towels and they refused. Said we could have ONE more towel, but we would need to come get it downstairs. Bed had 2 pillows....we called to ask for 2 more pillows and they said we could have those...but they would not have pillow cases on them, so we declined. The larger African American woman working the night we stayed seemed annoyed that we were patrons at the hotel. She was very unfriendly. Our bathroom was strange...the shower tiles spelled "Feel Good"......however the 2 extremely low-pressure shower heads (rainshower) did not "feel good"....they felt more like someone pouring a flower watering can over my head. The hotel is apparently under construction...but that seems sketchy as the permits posted have dates from 2015 and there were no actual visible signs of current construction going on when I stayed there mid- week. The bar/restaurant downstairs is overly priced with terrible, loud music playing until 2am and you will get heckled by the poor English speaking servers to come spend your money there....EVERY time to enter or leave the hotel!!!! It's like they don't even look at your face to remember, "Oh yeah, I just asked the couple to come eat here like 5 minutes ago...they are staying at the hotel..." Made me feel like I was back in Mexico getting harassed by every vendor to come buy there stuff. I did not feel safe in this hotel. Parking was a joke too...$44/night. If this hotel was anywhere else other than South Beach Miami, it would be called a "DUMP", instead the location apparently allows us to refer to it as a "Boutique Hotel".
We stayed in Room 501, great view from the balcony. Check in and accommodations by Keke were fantastic! She is very sweet, my mother and I appreciated her hospitality. The room is updated, great bathroom, bed is comfortable, no complaints. This is the perfect boutique style hotel. I would recommend this hotel for a busy weekend, and will return.
Nice room, loved the bathroom! Gave a 3/5 because the hotel is not sound proofed and there is a restaurant/bar downstairs that plays loud music and draws quite the crowd well after midnight. Was hard to sleep with all the noise and the light from the street coming in through the bathroom into the room. Very close to the beach; walk downstairs and cross the street.
We stayed here for 2 nights before our cruise. The room was just lovely, the bathroom, to die for - total luxury. The lobby is still under construction, but we didn't actually see or hear any work being done, so no disturbance was made here. As other viewers have said about the noise, this is very true. Party central and very loud. The first night it rained really hard, so I think things finished up a lot earlier than normal. We were prepared for the noise, so didn't let this bother us. Another amazing thing, we were told, free phone calls to anywhere in the world, OMG are u for real, yes. We were able to call our family in New Zealand for free, this was for landlines only, but couldn't belive it. Highly recommend, just remember there will be noise. This was the cheapest accommodation I could find I South Beach, would stay again.
Hotel Ocean was a beautiful boutique hotel. Really large room with super comfy bed. Loved the massive shower with dual rainshowers. Right across from the beach. Chairs and towels included. Access to fitness room and pool at sister resorts. Right in the middle of all the action🌞🌞
You can't beat the location! The room was decent. A more minimalist way of decor. I was fine with it but hubby thought room looked bare. Beware it is not a hotel that will be relaxing or quiet. You will hear music late in the night. The restaurant in front usually has a Spanish dancer and live music on weekends. I highly recommend you sit in the courtyard and enjoy the show. Overall it was a good hotel stay and enjoyed being right by the beach.
