I stayed at this hotel only for one night on March 5, 2018 after taking a three day cruise. The people were very courteous to me and provided me with prompt service. It is located in a convenient location. This hotel is located in the heart of South Beach in Miami. The hotel is is located within walking distance of public transportation. It It is located within walking distance of various types of restaurants. This hotel has an elevator. I was placed on the fourth floor. My room had a balcony and kitchen in it. My bathroom had a tub and shower. I had cable television in my room.
Stayed here for 5 nights.. reception located behind a restaurant with annoying waitors trying to get you to eat there. But we found a backdoor to an alley which we used for the rest of the stay to get in and out. Asked for quiet room in advance and got 310. Spacious and quiet! Location is awesome. Housekeeping did a really good job. Complimentary coffee, croissants and beach chairs. Everything we could ask for.! Definitely coming back here if we ever return to SoBe.!
We arrived late and really reserved the room about an hour before arriving. The evening desk clerk was extremely gracious, knowledgeable, and amusing. He found our reservation and was overjoyed when we did not need an ocean view room. Our room was towards the rear of the building and faced another building. Very quiet even though the windows (which did open) faced on to an alley leading to busy Ocean Blvd. Excellent comfortable bed. Beautifully appointed room. Reasonable price. Coffee available at breakfast. The restaurant in front of the Hotel Ocean had similar food offerings as many of the other Ocean Blvd. Hotels. Eat off Ocean Blvd. & Lincoln Ave., try restaurants and small groceries on Washington Ave. A drop off laundry, in by 9 AM? out by 5 PM; is on 12th St. between Collins & Washington.
Excellent room, we booked a king luxury suite and it was massive, the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom and the bed was super comfy. Great start to our trip. The only negative thing I could find was that you have to walk right through the restaurant t get to your room but it wasn't a problem.
This property is a big disappointment. On check-in we found additional fees for resort and parking. This hotel is not a resort nor does it have any resort amenities. The parking is 40 USD per day. With additional fees, the cost is over 250 USD per day. The room was very basic with a bed and two side chairs, not at all comfortable. My wife and I were in Miami Beach for a trade show and some sight seeing We thought this Ascend property would be ideal, Not. I will not recommend this property to anyone. I have attached a photo of the room, It is very basic.
Room 215 : Constant noise all day AND NIGHT long !! It seems like there is a storage scrap metal under our window (people picking ice, throwing garages in a very noisy way, works etc.) !! This is absolutely not acceptable !!!! We do not recommend this hotel.
The worst hotel ever, I’d paid more than 200 dollars per night for horrible room and deplorable service!! No manager on site to deal with problems !! Terrible Housekeeping, noise rooms, the restaurant lose to the lobby plays loud music every night until 2 am, imposible to sleep, please don’t go there !!
It was difficult to find this hotel. Once there, we had to go through a restaurant and found the reception tucked away in a corner. The lobby was dated and really needs a revamp. Plus the staff struggled to speak English. The elevator was a bit rickety. However, our room was clean and very spacious and had been revamped. But the bed linen had holes in and the bed was lumpy. The bathroom was attractive but the toilet was almost against the shower. On our first day out we returned to find only one towel instead of two. We requested another towel and was given a pool towel to use. At night the restaurant outside was very noisy till the early hours of the morning, so would not advise any families to stay there. It seems that they close off the street on Saturdays, so when we checked out we had to walk a block and a half with our luggage to collect our car.
I checked into Hotel Ocean for 3 night's on Miami's Ocean Front. It was my moms 81st birthday and this idea was last minute. I selected Hotel Ocean because the price was perfect thinking I hit a gold mine considering the location and views. The room was a bit weathered and worn but no complaint here. I did however raise my eyebrow 2xs because it had 2 fire escapes wierd but okay. One fire escape at the main room door right off the kitchenette. It was odd but could not be seen where the bed lays. The other fire escape was located in the bathroom and also could not be seen from the hotel bed. My mom 81, was in the room when I went out at night enjoying Miami's night life. While she rested threw the night, I would stop in periodically to see if she needed anything while I was out. No set schedule but just randomly if I need to drop her a snack or just wanted to check in on her. I found it odd that at times I would come in the fire escape doors were cracked open(eyebrow raise). The bathroom door 2xs and the main fire escape door was open at 3 times(maybe it was the wind). In disbelieve that it was the wind I challenged my mom about the doors being opened reminding her not to open the doors. She said she did not open the doors (eyebrows raised). On our 3rd and final night I was back and forth in and out the room. I noticed 2 employees staring at me each time I came in and out of my room and off the elevator. I didn't know why but okay. There was a period between 420am and 620am (no longer then a 2 hr gap) where I went up the street to another hotel to visit a friend for a short while before his flight back home that same morning. When I returned back to the hotel just a little after 6am the 2 men(hotel staff) were back in the same spot staring at me as I went back up to the elevators towards my room. When i entered my room the main fire escape door was cracked (raised eyebrow). I immediately called out for my mom, she was up and wide awoke. I asked her did you open the fire escape? she was upset and replied "no" considering I've been asking her did she do this before. I closed the fire escape. went to put my main phone on the charger and notice my business phone(an old non active phone that I still used the active apps since I only needed Wi-Fi to utilize it for transactions, pictures and to post to my social networks) was no longer on the charger nor on the night stand. That was wierd because i made a post just after 4am before putting it on the carger before i left. No big deal, I figured it was in the room else where but not gone!?. I went into the bathroom and the bathroom fires escape door was cracked open. I closed it immediately while my eyebrows raised and now frustrated I asked my mom and reminded her to not open the doors. she denied even touching the doors. "It's 6am!"she said. My mom said she thought she heard me and even called out for me but I did not answer back. I said no mom I was gone to hotel Beacon right up the street. now weirded out we talked and we relaxed for the remainder of the morning since it was check out day and I paid for a late check out so we can properly pack our belongings. while packing, My business phone was already gone from the nightstand and now no where to be found. Noticed in the bathroom my expensive Cologne (the only scent i brought) was missing. Went to pack my toiletry back my Andis clippers had gone missing too. I finished packing up went to front desk to make a report about my missing items. The clerk at the desk stated "if my items weren't in the safe box, the hotel is not responsible for the lost or stolen items". Not fair, who's putting their cellular phone, cologne and hair clippers in a safe? Not only did he say they(hotel ocean) weren't responsible and the cameras did not work anywhere to recorded anything but he said I couldn't make a report. I would just have to wait to talk to the manager to come in and he would have to just make a note. I need my items back and this hotel has theifs. It seems his hotel allows thieves to come in and pray on and steal from innocent hotel guest, the sleeping guest and the eldery guest. My mother never left the room during our Miami stay. This means she was in the room while the robbery took place and didn't even know the entire time anyone was in the room with her(I think that's kidnapping). How SCARY? I would love for the Miami police to get involved to investigate the staff on duty and cameras on/around the premises of Hotel Ocean on Tuesday the 12th of Dec 2017 during the hrs of 420am -620am in/around room 504. I will press charges if given the chance! I was not pleased over all. I feel invaded and the property was not secured . Anything could of happen to my 81year mother and someone needs to return or pay for my stolen items. This Hotel is not Safe!
The hotel could be wonderful and it once was ! We have stayed there many years in the past. It seems like it has new owners and they are under the belief system that black people just want to get over... I was accused of having my dog illegal at the hotel by Cinderella's ugly half step sister. The one at the front desk with too much black dye and too long fake eyelashes and a bizarre attitude about black people wanting to get over. She informed me that I would have to pay for having my dog at the hotel illegally! Never once did she ask if my dog was a support dog as she is. If you keep her at the front desk no amount of charm that the location offers can survive a front desk person with no hospitality skills and a poor attitude
