I did not book this hotel and when I looked up the reviews I too was horrified but at the same time we needed somewhere with good links to the underground to sleep at night as we were not intending spending much time in the room. Checking in was smooth, the room was in the basement and tiny with one towel but it did the job rightly. Breakfast was quite good and staff pleasant but I probably would stay somewhere else the next time if I am honest.
We booked this hotel through Booking.com and the reviews over there weren’t so bad. We read the reviews on Trip Advisor and immediately went to cancel the reservation as it sounded just awful. As we had missed the cancellation notice period we realised we just had to brave the hotel and decided to just check in. We were given a room on the top floor, and to our surprise it wasn’t as bad as most people have experienced. It was tiny but for one night only this didn’t matter. It had been freshly painted, the bed was clean, the bathroom was new and had everything we needed. There was only 1 towel though. We had showered at home so this wasn’t a problem for us but would have been if we were staying longer. Only one pillow each. Room was cold at night, window didn’t lock properly. It was £64 for one night, a bargain for central London. I wouldn’t recommend it for families or for anyone staying longer than 1 night. Can’t comment on breakfast. No internet that we saw. Hotel is dated, men on reception seemed friendly enough. Man in hallway with shoes off, praying on his prayer mat. Told to get to our room another way to not disturb him. Probably wouldn’t stay again.
My husband booked this hotel as he was looking for reasonable accommodation near Marble Arch. This seems to be a family run business. At the reception desk three men were there, staring at us. The one behind the reception desk asked if we had a marriage certificate, as he couldn't check us in unless we had a marriage certificate with us. What a strange start. No lift. One of the men carried my bag up a few flight of stairs and I am sure he was expecting a tip. The room could certainly use some updates. Not sure how well the bathroom had been cleaned as there was unflushed toilet paper in the toilet and a dark hair in the sink. Curtains not attached properly. In the room itself I noticed a musty smell. I would not stay here again.
5£ for the Internet per day 10£ to keep an eye on your luggage The room was awful... it wasn't clean and there was a hole in the floor! Furthermore, the room was cold during the night. The last day there was no hot water to take a shower and I called the reception more than 6 times in order to send me in a common bathroom to take a shower because the boiler was broken. Unacceptable hotel. Briebly, It cost me 350£ for four days in a double-dirty room with holes in the floor, cold water, no internet connection.
Friendly staff clean rooms with big comfy beds and proper hot showers all within a stones throw of the underground with continental breakfast on sunday morning our room had a little kitchenette too I am going back definitely
You have to expect for £33 each bed and breakfast in centre of London that this isn't going to be the most amazing hotel. But it was clean, staff were friendly to us and the breakfast was cooked to order even though we only expected continental. The room wasn't amazing, no furniture matched, lights were old, damp patches on ceiling but my family and I made the most of it and had a good nights sleep. The location was very central, much closer to underground station than was expecting. Probably wouldn't rush back if had the budget for a better hotel but it did us well on this visit.
My mother (79 yrs old) & myself: It was our first trip to the UK. This stay was really disappointing. The bed was comfortable & breakfast was good. Otherwise, the rooms are tiny. There was not lift in the building. I carried our cases up to the first floor myself, there was no assistance. I requested loo paper as there was none in the bathroom. The walls were marked, the bathroom was in a disgraceful state - I used a bottle of Dettol to disinfect it. Paddington station is a short walk way. The hop-on Hop-off City buss tour - bus stop is a short walk from the hotel, in the main road.
I stayed 7 nights with a friend and by the end (of our stay) we warmed up to the hotel. We were in there basically to sleep and to shower and the room met well those expectations. Also, the staff is very pleasant and helpful. The only bad side is the hotel is a bit old and seems that stopped in time. But its location is great with walking distance to 4 different Underground lines and a fair price for zone 1. I would stayed there again for a quick trip to London.
Me and my partner stayed here in July 2017 for 3 nights. We were given a choice of 2 rooms when we arrived neither of which looked like the photos. We opted for the larger of the 2 which happened to be a basement room. It was very grubby and poorly maintained with no air conditioning. The room adjoined a small external open area with a lean-to type shed housing washing machines & drains and it was filthy. The breakfast room was ok and the kitchen staff were very friendly & the food was nice, this was the only redeeming factor. Other than that it is a Sh#t Hole.
Tiny basic and not very clean room with a bathroom you can only just get into which i could just about live with but the privacy of the room was unreal. The bathroom faced onto next doors bathroom with no curtains or frosted glass and the window in the bedroom also had no curtains allowing the adjacent room a perfect view of us sleeping and getting changed. in the mornings the 'full' english breakfast consists of bacon, beans and a fried egg swimming in fat. I booked it thinking it was a cheap and cheerful hotel but its got to the the worst hotel ive ever seen.Honestly, NO CURTAINS???
