Helpful staff, great breakfast and the staff here’ll pile it on if you ask for it. Great breakfast for hangover cure! Hotel is a bit rundown but if all you’re after is a bed for the night after a night out in London, this hotel is clean, tidy and worth being the best nightly rate in the area. Good enough.
booked through booking.com the photos of the hotel on the site bare no resemblence to what we found. The room was dirty, the curtains were hanging off the curtain rods. no hot water after running the tap for a long time. The bed just had a dirty looking blanket no duvet and sheet with worn mattress(you feel every spring). There was a crudely made dirty table with a rather sad looking kettle, micro wave, one cheap sachet of coffee and several loose unwrapped tea bags. Did not dare look in the fridge. Deciding to leave(no way could we stay here) we were told there would be no refund nor an offer of another room only to be told it was no cheaper hotel. Cheap yes but the worst standards ever. We found another hotel for £10 more that had been completely refurbished with all the amenities you could wish(bar, restaurant & breakfast room, loads of tea/coffee) for as a last minute booking!
Pay 51 pounds not worth it room need decorating out of date not clean just look at the picture before booking as we were mislead by photoshop picture as it look very nice read the review 1st please...
Great location for Paddington Station and Royal Albert Hall. Clean white sheets and towels. Basic full English breakfast well cooked. Lovely helpful staff, especially the lady at Brenda who was just lovely and couldn’t do enough for the guests. More toast and cooked breakfast offered. Great value for money in good location for attractions
I used booking.com this time - the place was close to my destination, I needed it just for 2 days so I decided to book it. Mistake! OMG I got completely `new experience` of hotel, The 1st room they offered had bad smell even if it was in little better condition. I refused, then I got basement room - bingo, without the smell but look of it made me sick, had not seen something similar ever probably. I would guess this hotel has no returning guests. Moved to St.Giles after 2 days and got just average room - what a relief!!!
Okay, let me start by saying I have been a student for 6 years now so I have experienced my fair share of rubbish, below-standard accommodation. We arrived here in December 2017 and were greeted by a bad smell and a hilariously rubbish refrigerator pretending to be a bar. To think I'd fantasised about having a beer before we retired for the evening... Anyway, the smell ripe in our faces, we checked in and paid the 3% card fee (which wasn't mentioned). Keys in hand, we proceeded down the stairs to a basement area, not unlike Fred and Rose West's house. Key in the old door, we were greeted by a distinctive illegal smell, furniture with no doors or handles, the worst plastic green bin I've ever seen in my life and to top it all off, a thick black hair on the bed. The walls were undecorated and even looked damp, the toilet had a plastic teapot next to it which didn't look particularly clean and I shudder to think what it's used for. I'm a big lad and I couldn't even stand in the shower, which incidentally was coated in grime so I don't imagine the water flow would be anything worthwhile. My partner opened the curtains to a huge ladder and some building materials and I must confess, I became optimistic that a couple of builders would climb through the window and renovate the dump hole before we went to bed. I lasted all of 10 minutes which I used wisely to call my mother to get her laptop out and find us another hotel ASAFP. We left a f art in the room for good measure which I think would actually improve it for the next occupant. Then we promptly climbed the stairs out of the dungeon, gave the receptionist the key and left, disgusted and laughing. How this place gets bookings is beyond me. Just look at the reviews which admittedly, I didn't bother with. Booking websites had me believe this was three stars, which is just ludicrous. Funnily enough I work in a laboratory where I am suited and booted from nasties daily, but I'd much rather sleep in a viral Incubator than this stinky cesspit they call a hotel room. Avoid at all costs. We're laughing about it now only because I'm so glad so many fellow trip advisor members share our views. Ten minutes in there was far too long.
The Venture Hotel has a central position but it should be avoided. The rooms are really bad, small and the walls of the bathrooms are not up to the ceiling closed but there is an open space between the bathroom and the room. The shower is old and the water goes all around the bathroom. They give you one one towel and there were no face towels offered. The pictures of the rooms they have put on line do not correspond to the room you are given neither in space nor in appearance. Internet is not free of charge if you want it. You can hear all the rumors in the other rooms and bathrooms of the hotel. The only thing that can be saved is the breakfast which is not bad and also the ladies who serve there who are really nice and helpful. While the guys at the reception are not nice and helpful at all.
We booked for 4 nights but only lasted 1! The place was disgusting and definitely not even a budget hotel. The room was in the basement and had no wardrobe door, the adapter plug was glued to the wall and the ensuite was disgraceful. Our bed was constructed out of mdf and fixed to the wall. We had 1 towel between the 2 of us and the furniture was old and stained. I usually review Trip advisor but made the mistake of not doing it this time and just went with booking.com reviews which were not bad and the room in their pics must be of some other room! I have never been so shocked at the state of a place or the way the man booking us in behaved. He took a personal call while booking us in and walked off, the next guy didnt even speak to us and just hand us a key. We ended up having to book somewhere else as it was so terrible. My advice is do not book this place at all!
I did not book this hotel and when I looked up the reviews I too was horrified but at the same time we needed somewhere with good links to the underground to sleep at night as we were not intending spending much time in the room. Checking in was smooth, the room was in the basement and tiny with one towel but it did the job rightly. Breakfast was quite good and staff pleasant but I probably would stay somewhere else the next time if I am honest.
We booked this hotel through Booking.com and the reviews over there weren’t so bad. We read the reviews on Trip Advisor and immediately went to cancel the reservation as it sounded just awful. As we had missed the cancellation notice period we realised we just had to brave the hotel and decided to just check in. We were given a room on the top floor, and to our surprise it wasn’t as bad as most people have experienced. It was tiny but for one night only this didn’t matter. It had been freshly painted, the bed was clean, the bathroom was new and had everything we needed. There was only 1 towel though. We had showered at home so this wasn’t a problem for us but would have been if we were staying longer. Only one pillow each. Room was cold at night, window didn’t lock properly. It was £64 for one night, a bargain for central London. I wouldn’t recommend it for families or for anyone staying longer than 1 night. Can’t comment on breakfast. No internet that we saw. Hotel is dated, men on reception seemed friendly enough. Man in hallway with shoes off, praying on his prayer mat. Told to get to our room another way to not disturb him. Probably wouldn’t stay again.
