Blandford Hotel

My wife and I have just spent 3 nights (Saturday to Monday) at the Blandford in an executive room which we booked via Expedia for £472.53. What follows obviously reflects our own subjective view. Location: within 100m of Baker Street tube station and Baker Street itself. We found bus 139, which runs down Baker Street, really good for accessing many popular visitor sites. Also nearby on Baker Street are numerous eateries as well as some small supermarkets such as Tesco Express and Sainsbury’s Local which are open 7 days a week to 11pm. There is quite a bit of construction work in the area currently. Reception and lounge: small but adequate. Check in and out was quick. They will store bags for you. Lift: tiny. Maximum of 3 people (and that’s a squeeze). But we never had to wait very long for it. Bedroom: we booked an executive room because it was described as larger than a standard room. It was clean and in very good condition. Lighting was good and there were numerous electrical sockets with USB ports. It had heating/air conditioning. We found the heating to be effective. It was well equipped e.g. a safe, a huge flat screen TV, a small refrigerator, an iron and ironing board, a kettle with tea and coffee supplies and so on. The bed was huge and comfortable. There was a surprising amount of storage. But the combination of the huge bed and ample storage meant an already small room seemed even more cramped. Two bottles of water were provided on arrival only but there was a drinking water machine on the ground floor near the lift. The room was meant to have a microwave oven but it did not. If that is important to you then you should check with the hotel before booking. There was a noisy fan that ran 24/7, even with the room’s power off, which disturbed our sleep. There was also an intermittent deeper growling noise that went on all night for two of our three nights. I’m not sure if that was something to do with the hotel or to do with nearby construction work. But, again, it was very disturbing – a kind of mental torture in the middle of the night. Bathroom: it had everything you could reasonably want except flannels. The towels were good quality. But, again, it was very small and we had problems getting hot water. You had to run the hot tap for ages (what a waste of water!) and even then it did not get more than warm. Wifi: excellent. Breakfast: the breakfast area was small and even on a table for four the two of us felt cramped. But the continental food offering was good. I particularly commend the hotel for its fresh fruit salad and the freshly brewed real coffee (the latter is a rarity in hotels these days). So, to summarise, everything about the hotel was on the small side and we felt cramped; we did not like the noises that disturbed our sleep; and we did not appreciate the lack of hot water. Those aspects apart, however, we cannot fault it.

Loved this location, close to cafes, shops and area highlights but out of the hustle & bustle of London. Ovideo (?) at the front desk was a charm, so pleasant and helpful. The rooms were super clean and larger than expected. Ours had 2 queen beds which accommodated a family of 4. Would highly recommend. 5 star staff and location, 3 star prices!!!!

I had a great stay until breakfast started. Room no 3 is right next to the kitchen and there is a lot of noise from it from about 6 o’clock. I cannot recommend that room. The rooms are very small, but clean and nice.

Stayed here whilst in London on business for a night with a colleague. Although I had a "compact double" room, it was plenty big enough and spotlessly clean. Good quality bedding and what looked like new furnishings. Ideally placed for Regents Park, Madame Tusauds and Baker Street. Well priced and would happily stay here again. Lost one star only because the cooked rather than continental breakfast would have been an additional £8

I did not have any problems during my stay. It was very quiet, staff was polite. The room was clean. The breakfast was adequate. Close to anything really. Baker Street metro station (a major metro hub) is well within a walking distance.

Excellent hotel. Staff very polite and helpful, the room was a little small but sufficient for our needs particularly considering it's location, it was very clean had all the facilities you would need for an overnight or a weeks stay. A very good location for all London's attractions. The only disappointment was the breakfast it was a little sparse, particularly for a four star, I will next time not take up the breakfast at £7.50 and eat out in one of the many local restaurants. Yes I would stay here again and recommend it without breakfast. One very small point I think the for a 4 star the waitresses should have white tops not washed out white tops this may be over critical as they were very helpful but at 4**** they should be white white if you get my meaning. One other small thing the bath towels are more like hand towels. But don't let this put you off, it is very good value, I will be back

The best thing about this hotel is the location. The room and in room facilities are OK but the shower was awful, the water was never consistent, it kept changing from freezing cold to burning hot, when I rang reception to inform them, they sent the cleaner up who wasn't able to do anything and suggested I just have a really quick shower in the cold water. Not impressed! Breakfast was average, eggs were old and the selection was poor. The lift is very small but at least there is a lift (you could however only fit one person and a bag). I wouldn't recommend this for holiday makers or families as I think really this is just OK for a one night trip.

Very nice and comfortable hotel. Excellent service and the staff was very firendly. It’s located on an a very quiet and nice street with Baker Street underground just around the corner. We are very happy with our stay and would definitley come back when visiting London!

Lovely, clean hotel in a great location. Opposite Baker Street Station and a short walk from Marylebone train station. There are lots of places to eat and drink nearby and it is only a short walk to Oxford Street. The staff were really friendly and helpful, check in was easy and when we were leaving we were able to leave our bags and collect them later in the day. The room was really clean and modern, the bathroom was a bit small but the shower was great. We had a lovely view of Chiltern Street, however there is currently work being done to the hotel opposite which woke us up at 8.30 am on Saturday. If you're staying any time soon I would ask for a room at the back. Breakfast was simple, cereal and toast, however we later ate at Pantry round the corner for brunch. (OPSO is also great for brunch)

A lovely, comfortable hotel in a great location. Recently refurbished. Breakfast was simple but nice and all the staff were kind and very helpful. Would definitely stay again when visiting central London.
