The location saves this hotel. But if u like rooms that are grey and minimal opportunity to look outside then u may see some upside in the exorbitant rates charged. I was given an unfinished room that still smelled of paint. I wasn't that fussed. Just wanted a few dollars off or a breakfast thrown in...no luck. They insisted in putting me in another room (a hassle) and it ended up being worse! Being given a few beers was a nice touch. But all I wanted was a few dollars off the FULL RATE I was paying or a breakfast each day. (I was there a week).
The welcome was nice and the staff was very friendly through out our stay. We were offered coffee while we waited to check in. The lobby was definitely a 5 star. The room was the issue. At check in, they looked up our reservations. They verified that the hotel was paid for with points. Our room was not located in the main hotel, The room that they provided to us was far from the main hotel and in a very secluded area. There were no other people in that section of the hotel. The room was old and was above the train station, which was our view. Our room would be rated about a 3 star hotel.
Cannot fault anything from the service to the quality of rooms and food. The staff were helpful, polite and very informative with nothing too much trouble. The standard was exceptional and cannot wait to stay again. Location was brilliant right next to Liverpool street station walking distance to Spitlefields market and Petticoat lane as well as London Bridge. Breakfast was good but had to wait a while for a table and for some of the hot food to be replenished, had to ask three times for coffee, but in fairness it was a busy morning. Highly recommend a stay here everything catered for plus more! Wish I had had more time to try the spa facilities.
This was my second stay at the Andaz, my first was last year. This is undoubtedly my favourite hotel in London now, I can't imagine staying anywhere else! I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip in the beginning of October. Again, I was a few hours early for check-in, but the staff very graciously allowed me to freshen up in the healthclub and leave my bags at reception. I went out for some brunch and walked around for a bit, and within a few hours received an email that my room was ready. Again, I love this system - I wish other hotels could do the same. The rooms are great as expected, very comfortable and spacious. The minibar has complimentary soft drinks, water and snacks for the duration of the stay. The room I got this time was much, much better - in the quieter wing of the hotel, and not overlooking the street. The minor inconvenience was that they were repainting the halls while I was there so there was a bit of a paint smell lingering, but not really an issue. Unfortunately, I didn't the chance to eat at Miyako this time, I was looking forward to a meal there. However, I did get a drink at George's (the pub), which was good. The service was exceptional as usual, and I look forward to my future stays at the Andaz London Liverpool Street.
The Andaz London Liverpool Street not only sets the standard for hotels in the U.K, it sets the standard for the Andaz brand globally. A beautiful hotel, steeped in history, the Andaz is the cornerstone of East London. Conveniently located adjacent to Liverpool street station, the Andaz is in the perfect location to get anywhere throughout London or the rest of the U.K, in a reasonable amount of time. The excellence at Andaz starts before arrival. We were in town for a week to attend a Rum Festival and sent materials for our stand in advance of our arrival. The hotel gladly accepted our materials and stored them for our arrival. Each day, the hotel staff went above and beyond in an effort to help us get out the door and off to our or events all week. I am not sure what we would have done without them. Vanessa, you were amazing this week! During this visit, we took advantage of room service, the Eastway restaurant, and Catch Bar, and the wine bar. We had food and drinks at all and all were on point. The service and quality was amazing. The daily happy hour is a perfect way to wind down a busy day and transition to evening. The Andaz staff was very good at anticipating our needs and tending to them before we had to ask. All in all, the newly renovated room we stayed in was both functional and beautiful. The service and the food, were beyond terrific. This quality of this hotel is obviously reflective of its management team. Professionally, our week was a huge success and there is no doubt, the Andaz East London played a huge role in our successful execution. Our rum was the best selling rum at the festival and Vanessa even put a certificate she made on the computer and balloons in our room - A TRULY AMAZING TOUCH, she is incredible! Thanks Andaz Team, we will be forever grateful!
Stayed for one night on business with by manager who had flown in from USA. Check in was frosty, and I do not like the open concept of check in for security reasons, anyone could have seen my passport ID. The bar was typically British which was fine, but none of the plugs worked in the room. I rang for help and after 30 mins told them to forget it due to the very early start I had the next day. All in all, not a great experience.
Stayed here for a Saturday night with my wife during a weekend away in London, and had an enjoyable stay. Received a complementary room upgrade due to a noisy stay on our previous visit which had all been noted on the reservation system (the free breakfast hadn’t been, but this was quickly resolved) and the room was great. Had a drink in the George Pub – there was football on so it was packed, but the bar staff did a great job of serving everyone quickly. Headed down to reception for the free wine and canapes which was a nice touch (although you do have to be quick when the canapes come out!) before dinner at the Eastway Brasserie where both the service and the food was excellent.
I stay at the Andaz a couple times a year and am always pleasantly surprised by how friendly the staff is, from check in through my departure. (I don't ever actually check out - I am an American after all!) Even though my Hyatt preferred status is far inferior to my Starwood preferred status, I feel like a very highly valued frequent stayer at this property. I am always welcomed back and greeted with a warm welcome wherever I turn at this property. The bellmen assume they are to take my luggage and do so, rather than asking if I want help with my bags without reaching for them. After I mentioned to the front desk that I was too tempted by their nightly offerings of cookies and chips (gratis in my room) they didn't replenish them for the rest of my stay. At the restaurants the bartenders and food servers are friendly and welcoming - offering tastes of wines and opened up a bottle that was not listed for a glass when I wasn't thrilled with the by the glass offerings one evening. The food for room service is terrific. The fish was so good I ordered it a second time. The room service staff remembered me and my preferences after my first order as well. (I contrast this to my inability to get NY Starwood hotels to honor my simple preferences after much more frequent stays - over 100 in the case of the Sheraton Times Square there). Each morning this is a coffee station with croissants and fruit and each evening there is a wine station with hors d'oeuvres - no club lounge needed for this as it is right in the lobby. The location and décor of the hotel are perfect as well.
what an amazing stay i have just had with my wife. brilliantly perfect. i would recommend to my family friends anyone. tbe service from the staff is amazing the rooms are perfect. i can honestly say its the best hotel i have been too. first class and being a globetrotting hyatt member i will be staying again
Stayed for two nights at Andaz and enjoyed it a lot. Design of the common area is contemporary and welcoming. I had the chance to be given a renovated room. It was not very big but very comfy, with a modern feeling and lot of amenities. Also location is great, two minutes away from liverpool street where you can find many trains and suway lines. My disappointment came with the japanese restaurant, Miyako. Though they claim that it is "London's best japanese", the chirashi I got was kind of the same you can find in Paris japanese restaurants owned by chinese : this not exactly a flattering comparision ! So forget the restaurant and enjoy the hotel in itself.
