Grand Royale London Hyde Park

The hotel was in a fabulous location near two different Underground stops, steps away from Hyde Park, and on a lovely looking street. The room itself was quite small, especially the bathroom. I believe they have larger rooms but would have cost more of course. It didn't bother us too much. We spent most of our time outside of the hotel anyways. The staff was very kind and helpful. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it was nice to have it there and I heard from other guests that it was tasty.

Nice, accommodating staff. However, rooms are very small with limit closet space and room for luggage. Excellent location to public transportation, park and restaurants.

When we checked in they told us no hot water & put us in another hotel in dirty basement room, size of a bed. Got upgrade in Grand Royale next day. Rooms are small. Entrance, main rooms & dining room charming, historic and ornate. Staff excellent. Great buffet breakfast. 2 days later I heard front desk giving a different excuse to someone to put them elsewhere. I suspect they overbook. Just insist on staying here, and if they give excuse insist on checking a room out. I bet it's fine. I love the convenience and charm of this place will stay again.

Uncomfortable bed, small rooms, dirty comforter, comforter cover without closure, no sheet... it worked it was inexpensive but I'd try another hotel if you are guessing based on location maybe even the smart hostel down the road 250 feet... Could hear people sneezing next door (sorry for what you heard!) and weirdest was the stairs in the room itself

One block from Queensway tube. Great multilingual staff. Edwardian charm. Even while under construction it was a great place to stay. Clean, bright, crisp linens. Showers are pretty small.

Great location, easy to get there and plenty of restaurants and stuff to do close by.

This hotel was great! It's right next to Hyde park (the largest park in London) and about 3 miles from Big Ben and 2 miles from Buckingham Palace. The lobby is absolutely stunning with wood paneling on the walls, wood fooring and very ornate decorations. We had the one bed room, the room is VERY small but very clean and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are very modern and recently renovated. WI-FI was lightning fast. The hotel was great and I would recommend it to anyone.

I agree with other reviewers that the room was small, but it had a bed and bathroom and thats all that was needed. I traveled with my 9 year old daughter and it worked for us. But if you have a bigger family, or more people you might want to look into more rooms. The hotel was in a good location, close to Hyde Park, the underground, and many stores and places to eat. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

We were really surprised of this great location, close to the tube and everything else. We stayed 5 days and actually walked to everything, parks, 3 tubes nearby, restaurants, buses, and museums. We ate out everyday, did not use the hotel restaurant they offered buffet breakfast for a price so unable to comment on the food but the food at the restaurants we ate at were fairly reasonable. The only downsize is that the rooms were very small the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable (hard). It was hard to move around for 2 people it would suit one person fine however, the bathroom was modern, clean and well stocked. We had a flat screen TV, in room free WI-Fi coffee maker and all the coffee, hot cocoa, tea, creamer and sugar needed. The hotel staff were awesome, very friendly, they go all out to make your stay well worth it. I would stay at this hotel again highly recommend.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay with no problems besides a mixup on the free breakfast. The room was quiet, clean, with coffee and tea making facilities. The staff was great and answered all our questions. The room was much larger than some other reviewers made it sound. The lobby is stunning with a fast Internet and a printer for you to use.The wifi was supposed to only work in the lobby but it worked on my first floor room. The mattress was perfect not too hard or too soft. There's 2 tubes and numerous busses minutes away. Have a full English breakfast at Cafe Roma around the corner or go to Pret A Manger a few blocks away for coffee better than Starbucks which is also close.

Staff was very helpful, the location of the hotel was closed to tube station; this should not be categorized as a 4 star hotel!!; Rooms are so small, practically 2 people won,t be able to be in the room unless one person stays in bed! I do not recommend this hotel to anybody!

We booked two rooms for a recent family trip to London. The hotel was lovely. The staff was very helpful. We were near Hyde Park, shopping, two tube stations, and many restaurants. The rooms were small but very nice and modern. I would stay here again!

Small room, good location, though. Breakfast expensive!

My double room was so narrow that if you placed the desk chair in front of the desk, then (given the mere 1 foot distance between the foot of the bed and the desk), you could not pass through from one side of the bed to the other. The rooms are quiet, clean and fresh and the linens are new. The lobby is handsome. Despite the advertising, the hotel does NOT have wifi in the rooms. It has wifi in the lobby and tethered internet in the room. The internet port in my room did not work, and the staff made no attempt to fix it, despite my repeated requests on multiple days. The staff is generally unhelpful. Early checkins are not allowed, even when it was apparent that there were lots of vacant rooms. Most requests are met with a shrug.

My husband and I were booked at this hotel, and very excited to stay here. When we arrived we were told that the air conditioning was out in part of the building and were sent to their "sister" hotel. This hotel paid for a private car to take us to the sister hotel, which was nice, but not what we booked. We were given free wifi and breakfast daily at the other hotel, and it was in a good location with friendly staff and a small but clean room.

We are so sorry to say but we did not find this hotel to be a 4 star quality hotel. Wifi didn't work except downstairs. Breakfast severed too late for any tour plans. No coffee for early risers. Room was not fully cleaned. Dirty glasses left and empty coffee packages along with other trash. Rooms extremely small. We will have to say that the Lobby and the Library and Bar were exquisite and lovely. The staff was as helpful as could be and friendly. They really did their best for us.

Upon arrival my room wasn't ready, but they offer free WiFi, so I wasn't bored for the hour I had to wait. As a solo traveler, it was a nice area. You weren't scared to walk around by yourself and it's close to the tube as well as two or three grocery stores, fast food, a couple small pubs and restaurants, as well as Boots. It's about a two minute walk to Hyde park, which was nice to do when you didn't have anything planned and just wanted to be out. As I mentioned before, Wifi is free to all rooms. During the day it worked really well, but late at night it tends to slow down and you tend to lose connection on and off. The rooms are small, but very modern. They also included a flat screen TV. The bathrooms were very modern as well as with the showers that included a large bath tub, which was really nice. The shower didn't have a curtain, so you'll have to put a towel on the floor in case any water gets out. House keeping came every morning and at night and were more than happy to get you anything else you needed such as towels or if you had any questions Although the hotel was a bit pricey ( but that was to be expected since I came in the summer and the Olympics were soon) I still had a very nice experience at this hotel. It's somewhere I would definitely stay again next time I'm in London.

Our double room wasn't available upon our midnight arrival, so we had two single rooms the first night. In a generous gesture on the hotel's part, we received a (hearty) complimentary breakfast every morning. The location is fantastic, the rooms clean, the beds firm, and the building gorgeously refurbished on the ground floor. The only negative is that the rooms are so small that it's difficult for two people to move around at once in a double room. I know that's typical for London hotels, but I was a little surprised this qualifies as a "four-star" hotel.

The room was a little small and didn't have the greatest amenities, but who's in a room when you're visiting London? Great location, very close to public transport.

British hotels aren't known for their size, but when you're away on holiday you don't really want to spend your time in a hotel when you have a wonderful city to explore. Within close walking distance to two Underground stations and a bus stop, accessibility to the city is very high. Some nice places to eat nearby, too. Great value for money.
