This was for a one-night stay saturday evening. I booked a premium room, and ended up in the front, with a view of the traffic and a glimpse of the lake. The room was ok, breakfast ok, but i can imagine how guests sweat in summer with no air-con rooms. keeping the windows open is more or less impossible if you want to sleep, lots of noise. Stay was OK for me and perfect location, but beware of noise and heat (summertime)

I chose to stay here when my family came to visit me in Switzerland. Despite the rooms are a bit too old, the location was amazing and staffs were super friendly. However, the noise from the rooftop bar continues until quite late and i couldn't sleep coz of the noise.

Next to the train station and many choices for shopping and eating. No air-conditioning but with the windows opened, it is comfortably cool at night. However, the voices of people talking at the street level can be heard throughout the night and during wee hours of the morning.

We booked the hotel based on its location. And it truly was at a great location. We exited the train station to the left and there it was across the street. It couldn't be easier. It is very near the river and bridges. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. We booked a standard double room and there was plenty of space. It was nice to have a couch to relax on after a busy day of walking around the beautiful city. We definitely recommend the Hotel Monopol for your stay in Lucern.

Stayed here six years ago and it remains a great place to stay, a quiet place to sleep, and a very convenient place for the trains and ferries that take you to some wonderful places. The staff are friendly, making the booking in and out so easy, and provide you with assistance with all your questions.

When we proceed to check in Hotel Alpina, they told us that we are upgraded to 4 star hotel: Hotel Monopol. We are so surprising and happy. This hotel located just opposite the Luzern Bahnhof and train station. Mcd, Starbucks coffee just beside the hotel only. The hotel has open rooftop bar. You can enjoy night view in city of Luzern with your drink at the rooftop bar.

We ended up in the Luzern train station almost accidentally at the end of a very long travel day from the US west coast. Hotel Monopol is directly across the street from the rail station, and beckoned us in. The hotel is a grand structure, as beautiful inside as out. A very restful night's sleep awaited. Being located at an absolutely perfect part of Luzern for strolling was an added benefit. We ended up here accidentally, but if we ever went to Luzern again, the Monopol would be a purposed part of the trip. Stroll across the street and grab the next train ride. You'll do it refreshed from a night at Monopol.

Great spot if you're looking for a nice hotel that is close to train station. Location makes it super easy to get in and out of town, and also a couple minute walk to the water ferries as well as old town and new town Lucerne. Hotel offers a nice breakfast in the morning and staff was helpful in booking day tours for us. Highly recommend the Golden Round Trip if weather is nice. There's also a Starbucks located in the hotel and many restaurants and shops nearby. Giving 4 of 5 stars because the price is a little steep for the value, but most everything in Switzerland is quite expensive.

Great location, especially if coming by train. It is a 1 minute walk from the station and also near the city center. Great front desk customer service ( they even brought up our luggage that we dropped off in morning so when we came back hours later to check in it was already done). Only downside was no little shampoo or conditioner bottles (just that large one stuck to the wall which I never prefer to use).

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Completely outdated interior, wallpaper hanging off the walls, no air conditioning, so rooms are always too hot. However the worst thing is a night club that is next to the main entrance of the hotel, which plays extremely loud music until the early hours (after 3am). You can still hear this even on the 5th floor. Do not expect a quiet nights sleep!!
