The hotel Monopol is next to the train station, in the middle of the city of Lucerne. We came by car, which we put in the train stadion parking in front of the Hotel Monopol. All sightseeings were ther so we did not need to take the car out. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly because we needed informations about the sightseeing in lucerne. Our room was big with a nice view to the lake of lucerne. The room and bathroom were clean and had a good light. Breakfast Buffet cold an warm was riche of good food. Service crew speak well english. We come back to Hotel Monopol when we come next time to nice Switzerland.

This hotel is situated next to the railway station and the university. It is also very close to the main touristic points. Old fashioned building completely renovated with spacious rooms with all comfort. Staff very nice and helpful. On the top of the building there is a terrace with a nice view and possibility to have a drink late into the night.

My fiance and I spent some time in Europe between Christmas and the beginning of January, and this was by far our favorite hotel. The room was huge, clean, and modern. The location is very convenient -- right across the street from the main train station. The Starbucks downstairs made for an easy, quick breakfast to begin our busy days. We would highly recommend the Hotel Monopol Luzern!

I spent the weekend in Luzern for a concert at KKL and stayed at the hotel Monopol. What a wonderful experience to brighten a full week of January! The hotel is just opposite the railway station with a belle-époque facade. It takes less than 5 minutes to reach KKL from the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and had a splendid view over the lake and bridge, was intimate and cosy with an apeasing design, had good amenities, and one bottle of Luzern mineral water. Reception service is excellent, ready to give practical advice. I loved my stay!

We spent some days between New Year’s Eve and the beginning of 2018 at the Monopol Hotel in Luzern. We were assigned a very nice, comfortable and soundproof room, which had been recently refurbished, so everything was new and clean, with some appreciated details such as a Nespresso coffee-machine + a small selection of coffee pads. The breakfasts were good and varied, the staff was kind and quite helpful. However there are some negative features to be improved: a very unwelcoming reception area, shared with a crowded Starbucks shop and coffee; the presence of a noisy rooftop lounge-bar until late at night; the lack of an area in front of the hotel, where guests can load / unload cars. Instead, the proximity to the railway station is positive for travellers arriving to Luzern by train.

We were again in the Hotel Monopol in Lucern. Last time we wer in summer in august 2017 in this hotel. Now we were before Christmas there. We enjoyed it again. This time we have got a complet new Deluxe Design room. They opened this new category of rooms in December 2017. There is now an air condition in the room, the room is big, the bath has two sinks, a bath and separate a shower and toilet. Even a coffee maschine is in this room. The other rooms do not have a coffee maschin. The staff was friendly again. The cold and warm breakfast buffet was good. We come back in Spring, then we go on the mount Titlis. We were now on the Rigi Quenn of the mountains...

READ FULLY PLEASE Hotels rooms were nice, immaculate and modern. However, its hard to digest that a 4star hotel, especially in a place like switzerland can have certain weird princples of its own. Firstly, the hotel does not have a microwave or kettle. There is a centralised room which has microwave and kettle, where people have to form a beeline to get access to. There is not even cups in the room to drink what. You may have to queue up to even refill a glass bottle of water which is provided in the room. Atleast a kettle would be expected in the room. Secondly, the hotel does not offer in-room slippers to wear. They are charging 5CHF for every slipper you want to get. We are four of us staying in the room, which the price does not seem mere anymore. Even 3-star hotels keep slippers and do not charge. This is operating like a budget hotel. When asked further, the staff shoved me away saying that I should talk to the manager and he did not set such rules. Thirdly, the breakfast hall is so small and hard to move around. The hotel is quite big(about 30-40 rooms per floor), then imagine the number of quest waiting to eat. Moreover, the variety is very less. Upon check-in, the staff lied to us saying that it is a intercontinental breakfast and charged us 40CHF(10CHF PER PAX). I dont know if this is ignorance or simple the want to extract money. But however, dont opt for breakfast there is Mcdonalds and burger king outside the hotel, where you can eat to content for a better price. There is a shopping mall below the luzern central station, where you can also grab a bite. Only plus point is that it is in the heart of the city, and just a 2 minute walk to luzern central station. Do not stay here unless you want to let your money disappear into thin air.

We were upgraded to the monopol hotel after originally booking the hotel Alpina nextdoor. I believe the two hotels are somewhat linked. Our room was large and bathroom very spacious and clean. The decor and furniture does feel slightly dated. For parking the hotel reception sells daily parking permits which permits you to park anywhere in the city, but you will need to find a spot yourself. We were lucky to find street parking around the corner to the hotel, from memory a daily parking permit cost approximately 15CHF. The hotel is directly opposite the main Lucerne train station and only a short walk over the pedestrian bridges into the heart of the old town. Great location.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Monopol. Our luggage was lost on the flight over and staff went out of their way to contact the airline company to ensure we got our bags as soon as possible. It was a great place to spend Christmas and the breakfast was amazing!

The hotel just in front of the train station and best place to see the city on walk. Hotel is old but room is big as like a sweet room and it looks good for a family trip. It’s too hard to drive into the hotel because of one-way street but there was not any notice from the hotel. No coffee maker, no electric kettle in room. You can go to the hot water supplying room but you should wait for a long time.
