RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto

Nice hotel, breakfast buffet was over priced $72 USD, for 3 adults and 2 children. It was incredibly busy as well so you weren't guaranteed to get something you wanted. Many good restaurants near by and not far from Kyoto Station.

I like this hotel and I could give them 5 star rate But, unfortunately, pool was closed for maintenance while we were there for 2 nights. Which we were planing to use I wish they could informed us before check in. So we could cancel for this booking and stay somewhere else. This is big disappointment for us.

Has free shuttle from train station. Bathroom & room larger than most in Japan.

They provide everything you need in the way of toiletries. Beautiful room. Shuttle bus to Kyoto station every 15 minutes from 7:30 am to 9 pm., which makes up for the fact that they are not close to public transportation. Very high end and expensive in the way of offerings.

Hotel upgraded us to larger room without us asking. Staff were friendly. Location was convenient and hotel had shuttles to Kyoto station every 15 mins. Would come back there someday.

We stay at hotel on 18 January 2017 . We stay only one night but we got good memories ^_^ thanks for good service. My son very like your hotel and big rooms.

We didn't realize that there was a hotel shuttle service available from Kyoto station until after we checked in. This made the stay a lot more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive. We booked through Orbitz and didn't realize that we could have had a better room if we booked through the hotel directly.(as my relative did). They had a much nicer room with breakfast included for the same price that we paid. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our stay and found the hotel very upscale and clean. We would stay again but would find a way to get the upgraded room.

Excellent service. Just remodeled. Rooms a bit on the small side - this is the only complaint. High quality breakfast.

Hotel is competitive with other major hotels near Kyoto station. Rooms are reasonable size for Japan. Location is at far end of Kyoto station block, about 10 min walk. Not easy hike with luggage. They do have shuttle bus that runs every 15min on bullet train side of station. Bus is small and fills up quick, so it could take up to 30 mins to get on bus. Due to busy vacation season, I had to pay premium for the room, due to low availability.

I have been staying at this hotel several times. hotel cleanliness and service are consistently superior. Train station, restaurants and shopping are short distance from hotel. Very convenient.

Very old, need remodel room and bath, not 4* hotel

Two of my daughters and I stayed in a 3-person room for two nights while our sightseeing trip to Kyoto. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. There are some sightseeing destinations in a short walk; one of them is Nishi-hongenji, which we visited early in the morning (I highly recommend it). The hotel location was perfect as it is only about 5 min. walk from Kyoto Station which is a bus terminal. Kyoto has extensive bus services and 500-yen daily bus pass will take you just about any major tourist destinations in the city. We appreciated free wifi in the hotel, too. We had a great vacation.

I've been to a few top ranking hotels and Rihga Royal definitely tops every one. You don't get plush and silk but the amenities are excellent or better. You will be surprised. Large closet space (difficult in Japan), large room, the best bathroom i've ever seen, clothing maintenance support at its best, and a wonderul reception and service.

located on a busy street close enough to Kyoto station (but not so close as to be an easy walk), the hotel offers Western style size with Japanese cleanliness and attention from the staff.

The bed was terribly hard and I didn't sleep well for the two nights I was there. If I were going back, I'd take a foam pad. The rest of the experience was good.
