This is my second stay at this hotel and this time I opted for an upgrade to access the business lounge. For a modest amount you get access to the lounge, two items of laundry a day and a free mini bar on the day you arrive. The lounge is in the top floor a d has amazing views a d very quite compared to the main resturant for breakfast and an evening snack (all included). The room is spacious, clean a d very comfortable. I will definitely consider this hotel on my next visit to KL.
My stay at Pullman Hotel Bangsar Kuala Lumpur always meet my expectation from the moment of check-in until check-out. The staffs are helpful and make you felt welcome during the stay. Pullman Bangsar is my first choice of hotels to search in the internet.
This is my second visit at Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar and I still enjoy my stay. For the breakfast buffet, it is ok and better to go to the restaurant before tour groups arrived. I probably will stay here again because of its location but without breakfast.
I like the stay at the Pullman Bangsar. Staffs are very well trained and helpful. Only thing I encountered this time was my room door was locked from the inside and I could not get in. With staff's helps I finally got in and changed the room afterwards. It's a bit of a spook as no legit explanation to why the door is locked from the inside and I only stayed alone. Nevertheless, it is always my choice for business trip.
It's been a while and I still remember the array of delicious breakfast food. Umm. It's close to the shopping centers except you have to climb a pesky overpass, but that's it, shopping all day after that. Skywalk connect most malls and the twin towers. And we had an upgrade to a view of the Petronas. Wow!!
So...business trip took me to Malaysia for the first time. Last time in Malaysia was on honeymoon 25 years ago! Client booked me into Pullman Bansar, which I was not sure about as my experience in Pullman Hotel in Dubai (see other reviews) hadn't been great. Anyway... Check in good, room standard for a business trip, bed comfy and pillows good (nowadays I have an obsession with pillows - they make a good sleep and hence effect my mood - and probably this review?) Had 6 days in the hotel. Standard business hotel - I suppose just more that 'average' but not 'very good'. Gym and pool ok. Only problem with the room was that the shower door leaked and the drainage in the shower cubicle wasn't quick enough for the powerful shower. This meant that the water leaked all over the bathroom floor and into the room and once under the door into the hall. I reported it and they said they had fixed it - 3 times. They maintenance team is not good. I identified the problem in 30 secs but they took 3 days to solve the issue. ANYWAY - they are responsive, helpful and apologetic - very good front of house team - not so good maintenance team. These things can't be helped. What can be helped is the food! Malaysia has some the best, freshest, healthiest food in the world. I love it. But the food here is not great. Buffet breakfast is very standard. Lunch buffet was, according to my hosts (Chinese and Indian Malays) not that good. There is a sushi bar and that was ok as far as this Westerner was concerned? According to the KL locals I was working with, the hotel has a reputation for good pastries! If you want French style pastries then go to the hotel - but who wants that in Malaysia??? I had one evening meal in the Chinese restaurant in the hotel - not that great at all. There is a small coffee bar to the left of the lobby when you enter. Don't eat there. They offer pizzas and hot sandwiches. They take over 30 minutes to get a hot sandwich together and when it comes it is cold! Avoid that for food - OK for coffee. Check out was fine, concierge service excellent though. Have a chat with the concierge team and they'll give you tips on where to go and what to see or eat locally. Problem is that the hotel is cut off by roads all around it so walking around the area is nearly impossible. They do run a complementary shuttle bus service to KL Central and I would use that, then you take the free MYKL business service to get around - as well as cheap and plentiful taxis (always use the metered blue taxis!) All in all, Pullman hotels are OK - but 'OK'. I wouldn't probably want to take family there on holiday but for a business trip it is pretty standard. Be aware that when a Chinese tour group arrives at the hotel it descends into 'chaos'. One tip for travel is - never get behind a Chinese tour group and a buffet! They have no subtleties and niceties in getting what they want!!! Doesn't endear you to them at all! Go to Malaysia, go to KL. If on a business trip then Pullman is 'standard'. If for fun and family go elsewhere.
Stars - Location(business), Facilities, Value Service - relatively good service met throughout stay but could be better. Location - 30mins drive to/from Subang airport. Free shuttle buses to nearby mall but it might be possible to simply walk over the road/junction/highway to the new mall opposite. Facilities - Comfortable firm bed and fluffy pillows. Cleanliness was 4/5. Shower pressure was excellent. Huge but slightly less equipped gym is located next to pool at level 4. View from pool is not exactly fantastic. Food - standard international fare for breakfast with some local Malay/Chinese and Indian food options. Value for money - ok...
Disclaimer: I'm a platinum Accor member. I'm not sure if the staff were tired after New Year celebrations or what but it felt like staff were not the usual chirpy smiling faces you'd expect from a Pullman. Perhaps it's a Malaysian thing? I'm not sure but comparing to other Pullman in the region, the friendliness of the staff was below average. The room however was spacious (I was upgraded as per Platinum perk) and clean. Checkin at the executive lounge took a little longer than expected as the supervisor had to come over and assist. The lounge was quiet and spaced out. Coffee was terrible though. I ordered room service a few times just to see the quality. Not quite there for a Pullman. Overall, not sure if I'd stay here again when in KL. Highly likely I won't be.
Initially i booked the hotel at the wrong date, due to my own mistake, however upon contacting the hotel, they are okay to change the date with no issue at all. My request for a baby crib also well prepared prior my check in; when i arrived it was there already.
Stay in this hotel many times in the past and feel that they have good staff and have the soft skills all done well. I dined at the Link restaurant with my wife and 2x small kids. The staff there is excellent. Always smiling and friendly. Service to clear the used plates and refill the water was also very prompt and done well. Special mention to Ms Fadzlina who is ever helpful and kind. Will definitely be back.
