Location is in Mongkok which is convenient for shopping, tons of restaurants in this area. Close by to subway - MTR station. Easy access by airport bus. Beds are clean and clean up everyday. No issue during stay will stay here again.
Getting to the location was pretty easy: entry to the building is very easy, and then an elevator to the 24th floor. To check into the hostel, you have to call between 9:30am-midnight so that the guy can come check you in. He was super nice and showed us everything we'd need for the room. Three of us stayed in the 'quadruple' room with two double beds. The room had universal power converters so we didn't need our own. Also got washed towels everyday. The bathroom is a combination toilet room and shower. TV is small, but functional- allowed us to watch morning soap operas each day. The beds are a little firm, which I didn't mind, but the pillows were excellent. I feel like a lot of hostels I stay at have very thin pillows, but it wasn't the case here. 5 minutes walk to MTA, Ladies Market, Sino Centre. Not much further to Fish Market / Bird Market. About 40 minutes to Disneyland, 20-25 minutes to Hong Kong Island, a little less than 60 minutes to the airport. The district itself can get a little busy on weekends, though you don't hear the street noise from the rooms. Would definitely stay here again considering the price.
The location of this budget hostel is conviniently located in the heart of Mongkok. The very positive points are that It's clean, very safe and fits to your budget. The only bad point was the noise (not coming from the city since the hostel is on the high floor of the building so you can't hear the traffic down the street) coming from the other guests. Since the hostel space is very tiny, the corridors are narrow and every room is super close to one another we could hear the guests talking very loud every night until midnight when they were coming back to their rooms. I had to ask them to keep it down. So that was the downside of my experience in this hostel. For the rest it's good value for money.
As soon as we booked on Expedia, the hotel contacted us directly to confirm and send us directions to get to the hotel. Now that’s good service. One bus from the airport took us to within a block of the building. If you know Mongkok, you know this is a very good location, good meaning it’s close to everything fun. But if you’re looking for peace and quiet, don’t come to this district :) The guesthouse itself is in an old building on the 24th floor. It’s what we were expecting; clean rooms, comfortable bed. But very small. If you’re not used to the Asian standards, you may be in for an unpleasant surprise. There’s very little room, hardly any place to hang stuff, and the washroom shower is over the toilet so the whole bathroom is wet when you shower. They certainly could improve on some things, like put more hooks and shelves on the wall. But the bed was comfortable, the room was cleaned everyday, and it was nice and quiet even with the windows opened (there is air conditioning). Friends who stayed elsewhere in the area said they paid similar but got less at their hotels. They had smaller units (is that possible?), and they had shared bathrooms. We were happy with what we got 1812 Mongkok Guest House and we would recommend this place as long as you understand what you’ll be getting.
don't expect much on the room size, as you know hong kong is out of space. very strategic location, beside main road. inside the building got a lot of different guest house and we are lucky that we had choose the right one. clean and feel safe. the only thing I'm not happy is the response given by the guest house owner is either very slow or no reply at all. thus i only give 4 star instead of 5 star. the bed got "sound" when you turned your body. maybe because of wood.
Location was central and near the MTR and bus stops, easy to get to from the airport (Tip: Follow the tiny building number signs) and near street food areas. Considering expensive real estate in HK, room is good value for money, cleaned daily (a great plus!) and very secure. Good wifi, fresh towels daily with hot/cold shower and toiletries. It was helpful to have an English-speaking host too, Mr. Kieth!
My family (mom, sister and I) traveled to HK last week of September. I booked at booking.com a week before. We reached HK half past the hour of 8 in the evening and we went to the bus stops outside the airport almost around 9pm after completing the immigration and getting our bags etc. (TIP: Do check on travel blogs for transportation guide around the city, always do your research) We rode BUS A21 going to the kowloon/mongkok area which is on the other side from mainland. It cost 33HKD per head. (TIP: Purchase octopus cards at the airport, which cost 150HKD its the consumable load you can use in riding buses, MTR, buying at KFC, 7/11 etc, you can refund the remaining balance at the aiport when your trip is over, its also re loadable.) Anyway it says in their email to stop at bus stop no. 8. - Sino Centre which we missed, so you really have to be alert, look at the screen near the driver or above the front part of the bus as to which stop is coming up and pressed the button to notify the bus driver otherwise you'll miss your stop. its a good thing I looked and printed pictures of their front building so it wasn't so hard to walk and cross on the other side of the street and find where Sun Hing Bldg. is located, Google map on your phone really helps. The hostel is inside the 24th floor. We went to the elevator (they only have 3 and selected floors on the button) and their hostel is situated at the 24th floor, to the right look for 2407 which is sort of like their front desk area. There you will find the phone that you can use to contact the ever so helpful Mr. Keith (if there's no one around when you arrive just like us) we also paid a sort of cash deposit that is refundable upon check out. We are 3 and so i booked for a triple room, they led us to where our room is, which is on the other side across their front desk (2402 just left of the elevators) and taught us the lock code of the door and showed us our room and like every budget hotel in HK, The room is fairly small, for 3 people its a little cramp, but hey I'm not particular with huge spaces so I don't mind as long as we have clean beds to rest, and toilet and a good air condition. We have a balcony but the view is not much and its small, maybe for smokers its a good spot to smoke, if its even allowed. The only issue I have is the tiny bathroom, the shower head is on top of toilet seat so the entire space is both for toilet business and taking a bath, but otherwise its manageable. They also got hair blower and a TV. They do room service if you tell them to. The ultimate deal out of this is their location its right at the heart of Nathan road and everywhere is easily accessible from restaurants, MTR, bus stops and shopping areas. But, really prepare your best walking shoes as you will be walking a lot in HK. Upon check out, they let you leave your things which is a plus cause you can still walk around while waiting for your flight at the airport. It's not the best accommodation out there but its totally value for money for budget travelers but maybe next time its better to book a 4 pax room for a 3 pax group for an extra square meter of space and adding some extra pillows won't hurt. :) But overall, we had a good stay at 1812 guesthouse. P.S. I took pictures of our room but its in my other phone so I'll just share them later.
Spotlessly clean budget hostel on the 24th floor of a Chinese residential high-rise on the main Kowloon axis close to MTR and many many bus routes. As expected, rooms are tiny. We booked a 3-people room for two which was a good idea. Beds were short (no more than 190cm) and double bed was only ca. 120 cm wide. Food options of all prices levels in the vicinity. Helpful owner.
Booked a 4 pax room for 3 persons. Room size is just nice. Location is good, near mtr station (mong kok). Lots of shops, ladies market, shopping places around here. Included in the room are bath towel, house slippers, body wash, shampoo, travel toothbrush and toothpaste, tv, hair dryer, electric kettle, power adapter, water heater. Room is cleaned daily. Room is bot very sound-proof though. Staff are helpful. Would be good if mirror is provided in the room instead of the bathroom only. Personally, bathroom sink is a bit small and the tap could be smaller or placed at the side instead of the middle :p
The rooms are small like most budget guest house in Hong Kong but clean, tidy and well maintained. The facilities are quite good with air conditioning, hair dryer, electric keetle, hot water & free wifi. Rooms cleaned every day. Mr. Keith Yiu hotel staff is very friendly and helpful as well as able to communicate english well. Room security is quite good, access in and out of rooms must go through the main door of the apartment with security lock. The building security guards are also on guard 24 hours, there is no queue in the lift. The location is very strategic in the middle of Nathan Road and Mong Kok crowd and access to the hotel is very convenient as it is close to Mong Kok MTR Station. Very easy to find shops, mall, restaurants, drug store and money exchange here. Only 5 minutes walk to the famous Ladies Market (Tung Choi Street). For a budget guest house in Hong Kong this place is perfect but as the condition of the narrow room, bed and bathroom this place is less suitable for traveller with large posture.
