The signs claim that the rooms have been recently renovated, but either they were in the process of renovating or they missed the bathroom in my room. There was new carpet, window treatment and bedding, but the bathroom needing some work and the trim in the hallways was missing. There was only a very lightweight bedspread and no extra blankets available so was a little cool at night.
Okay, The staff was the best part of the stay. Very nice young man at the desk and housekeeping was friendly. the room is very small and it felt like a little box, but it was clean. the bed , the bed! OM!! it had a sheet and what was to be a spread the was just more of the window fabric. I could see through it and it kept sliding off the bed. the mattress was hurting. It looked like it was 60yrs old. with a pad that didn't even cover the whole queen bed. It had all kinda stains and the pad itched. I finally fell asleep. the breakfast was okay and again I have to say the service is awesome. Now if they could just purchase decent linen and mattresses.
Was woken up at around 2:00 in the morning with running and making noises. They also tried a couple of times to get into our room. Really want to know why the police were not called by the person who should be on duty during the night. When we got up to have something to eat a gentleman asked if there were any cameras on the building because someone had stolen his motorcycle.
We only stayed at the Super 8 because the hotel we were in had problems, we had to leave and it was late. The desk clerk took my id card and made a copy of it - even though I asked her not to. I worry about identity theft and if I have problems I know exactly where to look. She said the manager demanded it for when he gets problems with credit cards. Had I been able to leave I would have. The room, a pet "friendly" room, smelled terribly and was incredibly small. . Rooms that have had pet visitors can be cleaned thoroughly, this was not. Though the bed was actually comfortable the sheets were very coarse.
Don't get me wrong, this hotel was sufficient...but it seemed like it was put in a 'Shrinker Machine'. The reception area was tiny. The hallway was tiny. The elevator would fit Ken & Barbie only. Had to laugh when I opened the door to my room as there was barely enough room to walk around the bed, and the headboard area with all its mirrors looked straight outta the '70s. But it worked well as I didn't need a humongous room for just a few hours sleep, a shower and a couple minutes at the desk for computer time. Perhaps that is their philosophy here: a tiny room at a tiny price ($55). I'll stay here every time I"m in the area!
Over the years we have done a lot of short trips. On these trips we look for a decent hotel, dog friendly hotel at a reasonable price. The Super 8 Blue Springs surpassed our expectations. It appears they are finishing up some remodeling. Our room was very nice and the staff was outstanding. The only down side was the breakfast was pretty lean.
Stayed here with friends after seeing photos on website but this hotel is not ready for business IMO. 1st room reeked with smoke and still had windows wide open to air it out. Second room smelled of urine or sour stagnant AC. 3rd room smelled okay but was worried about cleanliness after finding what I found out was just a black sock on the floor. Friends room had sticky carpet that was coming apart. Most rooms have been renovated on a low budget surface level. Still broken furniture, broken smoke alarms (to allow for smoking I guess) fridge didn't work. Stay elsewhere & not LaQuinta next door ( worse). I would have left but it was 11:45pm.
I spent a couple nights here. It's great for what it is. The staff was very helpful and happy to be there, which is not something you expect at a Super 8. The hotel was nice. Although the room was small, it was clean and comfortable. There are a few restaurants about a mile away, but nothing within walking distance. The hotel is undergoing a remodel, so there are some minor issues. But overall a great experience!
Very friendly and attentive staff which made for a great overnight stay. Breakfast hit the spot and I enjoyed the stay. I will book here whenever I travel through the KC area.
My son, my two young grandchildren, and I stayed on Aug 19 and checked out on the 20th. At check-in I asked to see our room, #311. The room had spray paint film on the mirrors, cracked sink, no drain stopper for the tub, rusted wash cloth holder, base trim moulding missing between carpet and wall, and the intercom system didn't work because I tried numerous times to call the office. I asked to see another room, which had a damp musty odor. A third room had a definite smell of smoke. Since the Royals were in town for the weekend, other motels that I called had no vacancy; so I took the orginal room, 311, which at least smelled OK. We were all able to get to sleep; but between 5 and 6 A.M., the alarm buzzer in the next room started going off and didn't stop. It may have been room 309. When it didn't stop, I attempted to call the office; but again the intercom system on the phone was not working. I could hear the desk manager answer, but he could not hear my voice. I tried several times with the same result. After a while the person in the next room apparently hit the snooze alarm button to stop the noixe. A few minutes later the alarm buzzer went off again and continured to buzz intermitently. I pounded on the wall to try to alert the person there, which had no results. Finally I went into the hallway and pounded on the door. When that didn't work, and I still couldn't get the intercom to work, I got dressed, went down the elevator to the desk, and explained the problem. The desk clerk agreed that there definitely was a problem with the phone system, so he finally called the room of the person whose alarm was going off and got them to shut it off. I do not enjoy filing complaints like this; Im pretty easy to please, and I've stayed at many Super 8's over the years. Like I said, this was the third time this year that I have come from South Dakota to stay in the Blue Springs Super 8. I was willing to overlook the construction issues the previous times, but by this time, I was hoping that the renovation would be complete. At breakfast, another gentleman, whom I did not know, and I tried the biscuits and gravy, only to find that the gravy was cold--not warm or luke warm--but cold. The young man at the desk allowed us to use the two microwaves in the room adjacent to the dining area to heat the biscuit gravy. My grandchildren and son could not use the pool because an umbrella had blown into the pool and no one was allowed into it.
