It is an older location, and a bit hard to see which driveway it is on. It is clean, staff are friendly and it was a good stay. Internet was not that great, but the hotel was full, so we chalked it up to high volume usage. Just like breakfast food was not being filled fast enough (pancakes, eggs, and sausage that morning), but again, high volume.
I do not even know where to begin..... I suppose you get what you pay for? Was happy to find a hotel that had a two bedroom suite with three beds available for my family but ...... filthy. I mean basically gross. Walls covered in stains, scuffs and hairs. No one wants hairs on the walls in the bathroom especially over the toilet. Sign tonight still says indoor pool which is closed- very disappointed kids. I don't even dare venture to the continental breakfast in the morning. Days Inn should be horrified tonne associated with this place.
Stayed here the other day and was not impressed. Room was ok but when we pulled the sheets back on the bed, there was a BLOOD stain on the bottom sheet, AND there was a HUGE crease in the bed where you would sleep. Called the front desk and he said he would be right up to change the sheets. We had to help him change the sheet and asked him if there was another room. He showed us a different room but the A/C could NOT start, he said it was the only room available. We stayed in our current room but wife had to put a towel in the huge crease in mattress to get comfortable. Next morning front desk only offered us 10% and then when we said that was not acceptable, she offered us 15% and said that was all she could do. We asked if the manager could call us. She said she would pass the message along. NEVER GOT THE CALL ! Do Not Stay Here !!
I have to say, upon arrival we got off to a bad start when the staff couldn't open the door to the room we were booked into... 3 rooms later and we are in officially the second worst hotel room I have ever been in -- number 1 spot having been taken by a hotel that had red lights in the room, unidentifiable stains on everything fabric and I "slept" in my clothes for safety reasons. This place isn't far off. The staff is nice enough, but the rooms are run down as hell, everything is in dire need of repair and the place smells like Indian food; which would be fine if I were dining at an Indian restaurant and not in a hotel. The wifi is worse than just using my cell, the hot tub is good for about 2 people total. Enjoy your stay?
I booked a room (via a third party website) with one king and got two queens. Front desk said it wasn't their fault (she did show me the reservation request they got from the website and it did indeed specify 2 queens rather than one king so not their fault). Asked if we could be relocated to a room with a king and was advised that due to evacuations, it wasn't possible. The room was pretty clean which is always good. Bed was pretty comfortable despite a bit of squeaking here and there. The room itself was pretty quite from street noise even though we were pretty close to the highway. The shower made this horrific screeching noise when you first turned it on but it subsided after the first 30 seconds or so. I feel like this place has done a "lipstick" renovation; they've given it a fresh coat of paint and called it a reno. You could tell the place was just very dated. Our kitchen had a microwave, bar sized fridge (with an itty bitty freezer that clearly hadn't been defrosted in a while as it was very icy inside) and a small stove. Although there was a pot or two to make things on the stove, there was no dishes or cutlery anywhere in site. Not even glasses for water in the bathroom or coffee mugs for the coffee machine in the room. There also wasn't a dish cloth so we ended up using one of the face clothes from the bathroom. There also wasn't a recycling bin anywhere in the room which is really annoying since we had been provided with paper cups for coffee, etc. The rest of the room was very basic and old....there was a spot to have a chair of some sort to watch tv but no chair. The dresser that had the tv sitting on it was possessed.....the drawers would randomly open on their own. Our smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling when we first got into the room. The shower curtain wasn't long enough to stay in the shower when you were in it so you ended up watering the floor while having a shower. We weren't going to use the pool and hot tub but they were closed anyway. The AC unit would kick on and off over the course of the night. The hallway smelled like deep fried fish (it's next to two Chinese restaurants and a seafood place). There was no screen in the window and the window was quite low (ie a child could very easily fall out of it). Again, not our concern as we don't have children but I would be very concerned if I was a parent. We skipped the free breakfast as I'm Gluten Free and aside from fruit and coffee, there wasn't anything I could eat. We did try the coffee on the first day and decided to go to Tim Hortons next door as the coffee at the hotel was terrible. There was a few spots on the exterior of the building where you could tell they had been hit with weather (mostly rain damage) and they've just left it and some parts are now rotting. I can only imagine what it's like on the inside if the outside is like that! There was debris and garbage strewn around a few parts of the parking lot that didn't get picked up for the two and a half days that we were there.
The room we had was clean enough, but the one bed was caved in and broken and the air conditioning did not work overnight. When we lodged a complaint in the morning, the maintenance person and cleaning lady came and looked at the bed. She confirmed that it needed replacing and we requested to be moved into another room. We also requested to speak to a manager. The front desk clerk called someone and proceeded to talk to that person in their language, not English , then informed us he was not going to be until morning. She gave us his number which we called and he did not answer or return our call. Upon checkout the next day the assistant manager told my mother that she should have come down that night, at 1am, and complained...then reluctantly refunded us 59.34 on a 474.00 bill. We were in Kamloops for a funeral and did not appreciate the added stress.
The good: TV works and front desk guy is OK. The bad: because of the Fire evacuation this was the only hotel with rooms in Kamloops. Now I know why. In room hot tub (selling feature?) Has cigarette burns inside of it (I'm sure it comes with free desease or two). "Hard wood" floors.... I can hear my upstairs guests thoughts. I absolutely believe that the walls and floors are made of rice paper. How the hell is it possible to hear people's conversations from above you??? Thank God that they are not "banging". Floor up bathroom is leaking to my unit from multiple locations. Mold has evolved and started a new civilization ( give it a a month and the mold will create a society). All I can think of is how many dead hookers slept in my bed. While I'm writing this I am sure that I hear a tap dance or a wooden leg pirate upstairs. I'm scared to post pictures in case the owners will read this while I'm still here. Wish me luck.
Floors and under the toilet were gross and dirty. Shower made loud screeching noise. Wi-Fi was weak. Other than that, the room was fine. Cheap room so you get what you pay for.
We (4 families with kids) stayed for a night in Days Inn in Kamloops on our way from Edmonton to Victoria. The hotel is very nice located conveniently in the heart of the city. All amenities are on a walking distance. Standard room with two Queen beds was very big and capacious withe very nice AC and Stove installed. The night was very quiet and comfortable - no noise at all. The hotel is a bit dated, but very comfortable place at a very reasonable price. Pool is also great. The staff is extremely courteous and helping. They went beyond to accommodate our few requests and provided perfect service. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a family stay.
This is by far the dirtiest place I have ever stayed in!! We have even stayed in hostels in Central America and Asia that were cleaner than this! The bathtub had a thick layer of black grime that my husband tried scrubbing on his hands and knees and couldn't even get off. I didn't want to bath my two kids in the tub. There was also grime on the doors and in room corners. The place hadn't been cleaned well in a very long time. I complained to the assistant manager and he came up and saw it and truly didn't care. He showed me another room and it was equally as dirty. He offered us 15% off our bill and then when we checked out they didn't offer to give it to us until my husband asked -she could see it on her screen but didn't want to give us the discount unless we brought it up. Then it came up on the bill as "guest cannot use the stairs"- I know this is because they don't want corporate knowing that they had to give a discount because the place is disgusting. There was also only decaf coffee in the room and no one gave us a Wi-Fi password. We stayed at the Pacific inn and suites across the street on our way back and it is amazing. Room is twice the size, is spotless, is way cheaper and the staff are excellent.
