Front desk staff had numerous mixups re: room allocations. Very overwhelmed and needed assistance. Rooms are very clean. However. hotel structure permits noise travel from all angles including up above. Do NOT stay on first floor, as noise from lobby and kitchen area was excessive. We were travelling with our volleyball team and there were several other high school teams at the same hotel which made for a noisy night. Location was good.
We booked a king bed room and it had the most comfortable armchair and ottoman which was appreciated after an 8 hour drive. I never left that chair with my feet up. My husband went to the casino which is just across the road, spent a little money and brought me back dinner. The bed was super comfortable and the room was sparking clean. Staff was nice. Quiet rooms even though it is just off the highway. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We stayed at the Holiday inn express twice as transit stops between Vancouver and the Rockies. It was clean , the bed was very comfortable and the inclusive breakfast was ideal for starting a driving day. i particularly liked the pancake maker . We didn't really want a lot from our stay in Kamloops , just a bed for the night really. The pool is very good. The bottom line is that this hotel was perfect for us as a value stop en route.
A very nice, clean, new hotel with a friendly staff that was helpful. The rates were on par with most other hotels. The one shortcoming would be the wheelchair accessible room. The washroom is set up quite nicely but the room is a little tight to get around the table/dresser and the wheelchair bed is at least 4 inches too high. Lower the bed and move out the big dresser and this could be a top notch wheelchair room.
Stayed for 2 nights for medical reasons. Reserved a room with a sofa but at check-in we had a chair. Immediately contacted the front desk and were given a choice of 2 rooms with sofas. Someone not paying attention when assigning rooms. We moved. The rooms were cleans and it compares to the other hotels in this category. Turning left out of the parking lot is a nightmare. Left is where we had to go. For this reason alone we will never stay there again.
I made my reservation the night before arrival. The day of arrival, in mid-afternoon I got a phone call from the hotel asking me to "confirm my payment." I told them that I didn't know what they meant by that, and they asked again for me to "confirm my payment." I told them that I would be arriving later in the evening and they had a credit card on file to hold the rooms I had booked (for myself and a colleague). It was a very odd phone call and felt scammy. Once we arrived, most things were very good, including the quality of the bed/mattress, cleanliness, WiFi, breakfast. One major problem I had was that the room smelled like it was doused in the chemical-laden air "freshener" that they use. When I went for dinner, I turned on the A/C as high as I could, and opened the window, thinking this would help. I went to the lobby to ask about moving rooms, but no one was at the desk, so I just lived with it. In the morning, the desk was again empty and could not express my dissatisfaction with the smell.
The rooms were clean and the property was well maintained. There is a restaurant on site and the food is good. They have gluten-free options. The exercise room is small, but adequate. The pool was refreshing.
This is a very clean and comfortable Inn. Staff is friendly, check in and out very smooth and seamless. The breakfast is great, something for everyone. Not a fancy thing by far, but clean and adequate.
We used the Holiday Inn for a stopover on the way to Banff. The hotel is in a good location with lots of restaurants, shops etc near by. The hotel itself is bright and fresh and rooms and public areas are cleaned to a high standard. The breakfast had a good range of items and you could get coffee and drinks to go. Just to say that only piece of equipment worked in the gym. Good thing it was just me! Nice pool and hot tub to relax in after a long drive too!
I stay at HIE regularly and know what to expect. This HIE in Kamloops looks to have been renovated in the past 2-3 years as I saw newish carpet and paint here and there. But when they renovated - they didn't address some basic problems with this site and I would recommend against staying here. Our room was fine on the surface...but look a bit deeper and we saw things wrong. The wall mounted A/C unit has a flip-up panel to control the temp, fan, etc. Our unit's flap actually was scotch taped shut so we couldn't adjust the A/C in any way. Fortunately it was set on "cold" which helped us sleep...but the morning was difficult as we were freezing. The bathroom showed caulk coming loose and the toilet seat was loose. Paint was bare here and there. Not great at all. The worst was the breakfast room which is wholly inadequate for its purpose. Too small with too many tables and seats (a hodge lodge of styles) jammed together. There were some places where it was almost impossible to even GET to your seat. When they renovated ... this obvious short coming should have been addressed. Overall - I don't recommend this HIE. Sorry. There's better out there. A disappointing experience.
