Likes: Service was quick and efficient. Clean rooms. All drains were clear (very frequent problem at all levels of hotels). Gym facility was good and pool area looked quite new and clean still. Bed and pillows were great. Suite kitchen had what was needed. Dislikes: No water bottles as water tasted a bit funny from the tap. Train noise was expected but still not pleasant (although sound proofing was better than I had expected). A TV stand would have been useful as I plugged in my laptop for work and had to use the ottoman; no plug ins near the TV either. Train traffic created very long waits just to get back to hotel or leave property. If you plan on lots of in and out, this may not be the place for you.

I recently stayed here and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, I loved that the hotel is located right on the river with beautiful walking paths nearby, and I appreciated having two restaurants connected to the property for convenient dining options. However, there were several issues during my stay. The room needed maintenance — the electrical fan buzzed constantly, and the air conditioning unit was very loud. There is also a train that runs right outside all night, which made it hard to get a good night’s sleep. Parking was a challenge on the first night, and I imagine it would be even more difficult during the summer months. The hot tub wasn’t running properly, and the pool area felt dirty enough that I only used it once. Overall, this isn’t a quiet or relaxing spot, but the riverfront location and restaurant options are nice perks.

Missing the mark a bit…

While I shared my thoughts with the front office manager at time of check out, I do feel obligated to pass along some pix of our hotel room for future guests. First, not sure what a city view of Kamloops is supposed to look like in relation to other city views I’ve experienced, but this isn’t what I expected. Looks more like industrial view. Second, almost all the baseboards in our room were looking in bad shape. Third, not understanding why the ceiling is separated by the window.. see pic cuz I can’t figure out the purpose of it. And the ceiling nearest the window looks just as bad as the baseboards. The hotel needs some TLC for sure. I’ll leave this review on a positive note! The hotel restaurant, Moxies, was quite tasty and we received awesome service from Dillon.
