We booked this little dump based entirely on price and location. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER. First, even though it was heavily discounted, the room we got at "Mingle Place by the Park" is facing a main street and even on 4th floor the traffic noises were enough to keep him up. Second, no idea why it's even called a "hotel" as a sign on the room door clearly says the property is registered as a "guest house". You basically have to take the elevator up to the 7th, then literally walk out of the building through iron stairs to the ceiling of an old building, and then walk down to your room. Almost impossible to find if you don't know how it works. And that leads to the third point. Third, and absolutely the worst, are the services. The two receptionists at the front have no business even guarding one of those third world public toilets that charge you 10 cent for using it. Rude, full of attitudes and absolutely unhelpful. No direction was given by the front desk or anything else. And when a friend came visiting, he was stopped and given hard time unnecessarily. And much has already been said about how small and dirty the rooms are. So it's somewhat amusing that they asked for a deposit of HKD500 (we prepaid through a booking site). I mean, NOTHING in that room is worth that much. I take it back, if you damage everything that can be damaged there it won't cost that much. I have never detested a hotel, er, guest house this much. A achievement of some sort of this dump of an excuse of a hotel.
Paid top dollar for a night stay in a closet size room. This hotel is advertised as a 3 star hotel but do not think that it even makes a 2 star. Unfortunately, I did not do the homework as I usually do because of timing issues, but this was by far the worst hotel I have been anywhere in the world. To be fair with the hotel the bathroom and the bed was clean. The shower was the highlight of the room with great water pressure. Otherwise, the furniture was from the 50s or 40s. In reality, there was only a standing hutch and a chair inside the room. There was no space for anything else. I would never recommend this accommodation to anyone.
This hotel is nasty. The most appropriate word would be disgusting. Cockroaches running around the room, which stunk like a Chinese fried food kitchen. A 1 is way too generous rating. Do not stay in this hotel. Tiny would be an understatement. All in, the room would be about 7 square meters. It was a cupboard. The bed was so narrow that it felt like a camping stretcher. There was 6 inches between the edge of the bed and the bathroom so you had to turn sideways to get by the bed and into the bathroom. The bathroom was so small that my shoulders touched both walls when seated on the toilet. And when it is that tight a fit, you can't even wipe. :( You literally have to stand up and stuck your butt out the bathroom door to have enough room to wipe. (Sounds funny, but believe me it is not). It did have a sort of decent balcony. However the moment you opened the door, the stench of fried cooking oil was overpowering. The room backs on to a restaurant kitchen that has black oily slime running down the outside of the back wall. It has a big exhaust fan blowing against the window and balcony door of the room. You had the smell of burned cooking oil through your room and all your belongings and could not avoid it. The balcony was unusable as the exhaust fans blew directly into it. Seriously, this was below a 1 star hotel. Do not stay here. There was not a single good thing about it.
I booked a room at mingle by the park for one night , and they have given me the room at mingle place by the park which is next to mingle by park . When i asked them they said they cant do anything , pls dont ever stay in this hotel . There r no elevators , u have to climb all the floors. Once again its the worst hotel ever
I booked the hotel for solid nights. Upon arrival, company notified me that I have to attend another meeting at another city on next day. I have to cancel one night reservation. The duty staff was very helpful and friendly to contact the travel agency which I booked with . Finally situation cleared. I was only charged the night that I had spent. I appreciated.
Really really small for the single room. I think is ard 8 sq m. But the room has everything u need but aircon in my room was not cool at all. Also do be careful when u want to access the balcony. There is a curb between the room and balcony. I almost fell to my death as i didnt notice it.
This was my first time in Hong Kong and I loved the central location of this hotel. It has a unique floor plan - for example, from the lobby to get to our room we went up the elevator to the 7th floor, then down some stairs and through a patio and back down two flights of stairs. But then we could also use the stairs straight down to the street later on during our stay (not through the lobby). We stayed in the king-size bed room and it was very much what we needed for a great price. There was just room to move around the bed and the bathroom was enough to get ready for the day. Pros: - fast wifi - great location (near the wanchai train station) - clean and efficient maid service during the day - tea and hot water heater in the room - the balcony and view down to the street is LOVELY - great a/c Cons: (if you'd even call them that - we had a great experience) - no free water bottles in the room (as some hotels have), but you can get some at the nearby 7-Eleven on in the mini-bar - if you're a light sleeper, avoid the street-side rooms (the noise from traffic lulls me to sleep, so I didn't mind at all!) Close by: - 7-Eleven - McDonald's (the only food 24/7 we could find close by) - great coffee shops (The Cupping Room and Omotesando Koffee, to name two) - fresh food stands just around the corner (we got fresh fruit each morning for breakfast as we walked) I'd definitely stay here again!
Short walk to Wanchai metro station and inexpensive price (for Hong Kong island). The hotel is a bit strange in that for many rooms, you have to take an elevator to the seventh floor then go outside and walk down another stairwell to get to rooms on lower floors not accessible by elevator. But it's a small inconvenience for the convenience of the location, and even though the rooms are quite small they are well-furnished. Nice A/C in the lobby (though cluttered with things stored on the lobby stairs). Professional staff at front desk, and others who work in the hotel are friendly. Nice atmosphere, happy to stay here again!
Terrible staff, the telephone starts to ring at 10:40 a.m. with an automatic call saying you got to leave the room. Housekeeping wakes you up also with the noise they make in the corridors. terrible room really small. awful stay in this hotel. There are better hostels than this "hotel"
As a travel blogger, this is sadly the smallest, dirtiest and noisiest room I have ever stayed in (tried staying in, sat up all night due to street noise) asked to if I could pay more and be upgraded. Yes, but only the next day...new room in the hotel next door, room size was ok but again so dirty and noisy! The only good thing was the location. Wish I chose another hotel no idea how I'm gonna survive on no sleep for five days. Shocked and utterly disappointed! AND I STILL HAVE THREE NIGHTS TO GO :( Will never stay at this hotel or any of their chains again.
