Beautiful place- in room onsen was lovely. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Well organized. I enjoyed the daily teas and coffee in the lobby as well as the ice cream. The Kaiseke dinner was a very cool experience to try local food in a nice presentation.

Our stay here was phenomenal. The onsen, of which two are available, are both fantastic and have great views. Our room also had an indoor tub and small outdoor stone onsen that was like having heaven in our backyard, which was also equipped with a private garden. The dinner included in the reservation was delicious and filling. We got drinks at the bar afterward with a nice view of the larger garden outside. Dinner was preceded by a music concert with a pianist and floutist. The breakfast buffet was extensive. The service was top notch. Certainly an unforgettable hotel experience! I would go back in a heartbeat.

We loved this gorgeous, resort-like property in Hakone. The staff treated us with the utmost respect and kindness from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Our room with the private onsen facing the mountains was no doubt the highlight of our trip and a much needed place for relaxation. The property has everything you could need, including free ice cream and drinks in the lobby, nightly live music/entertainment, and dining options. The location isn't super walkable or convenient to stores and restaurants, but this was just fine with us. There is an indoor tunnel connecting this property to another with a restaurant and convenience store which was nice to have. Amazing trip

Disappointed
The first room we were in was filthy with mold and fungi spreading across the walls, dirty bed sheets and hair that was not ours on the covers. My wife is vegetarian and the dinner options were absolutely horrible, feels like they never prepared any meals for a vegetarian guest, with most dishes consisting of lettuce and some other vegetables, and barely any cooked food, the food quality decreased drastically since my last time. Not recommended and not worth the price. They did swap the room once we called them and the staff was very nice and kind, but I expect more value for my money spent.

Ten-Yu was a surprise (in a good way). I had not expected much but discovered that it has a lot of little things that make the experience special. Each unit is large and has yukata's for adults and children (essentially a more casual version of a kimono) that you can wear throughout your stay at the property - while eating at the restaurants too! Nearly everyone wore them and it gave you a more "home-like" sense to the property. They also had live music concerts in the lobby (flute/saxophone) where a small group of about 20-25 guests would congregate to listen to the music. The property has free cold tea and snacks in the lobby. They also had free champagne/drinks briefly during happy hour. The kids loved the free ice cream vending machine. They had buffet breakfast included in our stay. We also learned an important lesson about dinner in Hakone area. Make your reservations before you arrive! Most people eat dinner at the property because a lot of restaurants outside are closed for dinner or have long waits. Then go to the onsen (hotspring at the property) either before or after dinner. You'll feel great. For those who don't want to get naked, you can go to Yunnesun which is next door to the property which is a fun hotspring waterpark. The kids loved it, especially the fish pedicure. It is connected via an indoor walkway. The service overall was very good - the front lobby staff was excellent although restaurant staff could be better at following up on my requests.

I loved every minute of my stay here! Is it a little expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes! My room had a private onsen which was great but if you can overcome the shyness of being in the nude in public, the two outdoor public onsens are gorgeous! They are gender separated and the hotel switches between the two onsens each day so that everyone can enjoy both onsen settings. One is more modern with an infinity pool overlooking the mountains and the other was a more natural setting with a waterfall.
