My check-in at the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Fresno Northweset was smooth and the staff contacted me in advance and moved me to what was described as an upgraded room. Sadly, the property itself has significant issues. The hotel is surrounded by construction and industry - on the “bad side of the freeway with a train going thru every hour or so with its horn blaring. All night. Notably the parking lot was poorly lit with people loitering outside. Also from a security perspective the side doors did not lock and the front sliding doors were broken and had to be forced open by the single staff member on duty. It was that way in the morning when we left. the room had over powering mold smell. The bathroom also had visible mold, and the jacuzzi tub leaked water into the carpet area and was moldy. The bed was badly worn with a visible dip in the middle and springs pushing through the topper. After confirming there were no bedbugs as stated in other reviews, we kept our luggage in the car and slept on towels on top of the sheets. The air conditioner was a wall mount and did not cool at all- Even for a budget property, rated a 8 on Orbitz (it’s definite 2) basic safety and maintenance standards should be expected. This location appears to need significant changes and attention now from management. In contacting La Quinta and Wyndham neither state the property is a licensee. People who are staying here seem to be all construction workers where corporate is paying.
