We had the immense pleasure of staying in THE BELL CHANNEL INN in Freeport Bahamas this past December. We were there for 10 days from the 15th to the 26th December. We chose Freeport because my daughter lives there, and I had lived there for many years. We decided to get married there during our stay! And what a WONDERFUL STAY IT WAS. THE BELL CHANNEL INN IS A MARVELLOUS BLEND OF MODERN ROOMS, FANTASTIC STAFF ( ALWAYS SMILING) AND A SUPER RESTAURANT CALLED " UPSTAIRS " Honestly, our stay was simply exceptional! The room was FABULOUS! Liz and Susie.. owners and terrific on-site, hands on ladies, had just finished the re refurbishment of our room!We were thrilled!!! We had our wedding reception there also, and cannot say ENOUGH about the food and the STAFF. Keith and I want to say a HUGE thank you to ALL the FANTASTIC STAFF, and to Liz and Susie for making our stay so memorable and stress free too. YOU SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF YOUR FAMILY RUN HOTEL!! AND TO PRESLEY (Best dive instructor EVER, and right outside your room too!!) THANK YOU. THE BEST MEMORIES WERE MADE WITH ALL OF YOU.
We had a very nice stay at this hotel during the NYE weekend. Our room was GORGEOUS! We will definitely stay here again! The view of the Marina was beautiful. We were able to see the fireworks from our balcony as well.
Mu boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was clean and well maintained, and the bed was really comfortable. Food at the restaurant was decent. Best of all, the staff were very friendly and really went above and beyond to make us feel at home and help make our trip fun. We're SCUBA divers and also appreciated having Caribbean Divers right on site. Only downside is that it's about a 20 minute walk to the beach, shops & other restaurants. We'd definitely come back!
In July 2017, my girlfriend and I went to Freeport, Bahamas. We stayed at the Bell channel Inn. It was my our first time staying there, to our surprise it was very clean and all the staff was very nice. I liked cause it had a Restaurant and bar on the third floor. It was very clean and reasonably priced and the food was good. To get to Port Lucaya we took a taxis there, it cost us $8.00 to and from the hotel. No bus service which if there was a bus it would cost $1.25 per person. Buses run during the day and taxis by night. Our trip turned out to be very enjoyable and looking forward w our next trip there.
I've stayed at the BCI many times in the past, satisfied with the quiet, clean, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Now, over the past few years, the owner and manager have upgraded the rooms, adding nice, simple decorative touches, new bathroom decor, kitchen-style sinks in an entryway counter, replaced the air conditioning units with new, efficient systems, traded the old furniture for new stylish, roomy cupboard-and drawer-units, and generally made the rooms more attractive. The "Upstairs" restaurant has been refurbished, too, adding several menu items that have warranted its listing as one of the best restaurants in Freeport. The bar is a favorite with locals and the guests, especially on weekends. If I had my way, I'd ask for simple coffeemakers in every room, just to allow guests to get started on their day. Since the rooms come with refrigerators, maybe small microwave ovens, too. As always, the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you get a chance, talk to Genie (Jeannie?), a sort of local concierge, who's ready to answer any questions about local sites and events. One final note: With hurricanes apparently coming more frequently, the BCI invested in a high-end generator to supply power to the hotel during post-hurricane blackouts. After this season's hurricane Irma, BCI may have been one of the few hotels operating on their own power, with the bar and restaurant the only local choice. Good move!
Very slightly off the beaten path in Freeport on the opposite side of the channel from the Port Lucaya Market, accommodations are modest, but clean & affordable. The rooms are a little dated but spacious and each room has a balcony that faces the channel, the market and the larger hotels (FYI, you CAN hear the music at the market starting around 9:30 a.m. each day). While you cannot see the beach, overlooking the channel is still quite nice. We saved money by walking to the market & restaraunts each (it's about 1.25 miles one way). Rooms have a/c, 2 full-sized closets, TVs with numerous channels, a small fridge, and the bathroom & shower in our room had been recently retiled and looked quite nice. The staff is what makes this motel shine. Genie, the tour director/concierge can book any sort of excursion that might interest you, and save you a bit of money in the process. The front desk staff were all extremely friendly & all the ladies in the restaurant took good care of us.
I had a great time in Freeport when I spent a week at the Bell Channel Inn in October. The hotel staff was very supportive; problems with the lamp and phone in my room were addressed and resolved as quickly as possible. The desk and maid service were excellent, and the guest co-ordinator (Genie) was quick to serve my every wish! The restaurant provides excellent meals at moderate prices, and the resident diving instructor treated me very kindly as I completed my introductory SCUBA lesson and explored the underwater habitat. Thanks to them all for their outstanding service.
The staff was so incredibly helpful and friendly! Felicia and Genie were absolute highlights of our visit. Anything that we needed, they were always happy to help us out. The restaurant/bar is wonderful and has a lovely view.
so happy to see this place come back to life. I stayed here with Warren Carroll when I first came to the bahamas in 1989. He stayed here and it was on the verge of being condemned and I was so sad at the thought cuz this place had so much to still give.. Makes my heart sings to see these photos and know that someone gave her... LIFE BACK..... NICE JOB..... when I come back I will stay here for sure.... Tammy lee
He hotel overlooks part of a marina. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. The staff are helpful and friendly. There is a lady there called Genie who is amazing and will show you around, help you get to anywhere you want to, arrange tours, just generally she is a lovely person and part of the hotel. An absolute asset to any hotel. There is a pool as well, although it's just nice to take a dip if it's hot, not a lot of shade if you want to sit near it. There is a great restaurant upstairs, lovely food, and fairly well priced, nice atmosphere usually. I would recommend it as it's also a 15 to 20 mine to walk to the beach and to town and to the nearby supermarket.
