Moxy Frankfurt City Center3.0 out of 5.0

Hotel is situated right at the centre of Frankfurt. Main Tourist Attractions are walkable distance. Was allocated a corner room which is really very small. Breakfast cost Euro 10 which is a bargain! The lady receptionist was cold and arrogant.
Hotel is definitely funky and not your normal Marriott experience. However, we liked the hotel lobby and bar. We had a drink and snacks and the lobby bar / food area met our needs. The bed was a little too hard for me, but the room was great. Minimalist with no real chair or desk. No place to store clothes except for hooks with hangars on the wall. But the price and location were excellent and we would definitely stay here again. Free lockers for luggage - picture is in my review.
I can appreciate that this brand is targeted at a specific clientele and they probably do well to cater to under-30s; but then it may not be the best choice for other types of customers. In short: check-in /reception merged with the bar (which kind of replaces the customary hotel restaurant), loud music, informal/relaxed feel, decoration heavy on concrete and graffiti ... and above all very small functional rooms with a simple layout (no closet, folding table hanged on the wall etc.). Not sure I would return as I didn't really like the atmosphere / ethos (and I didn't feel I was fitting in). Good location on the other hand.
I stayed 4 nights here and this was my first time to stay in MOXY brand. A 360 Degree turn from a normal hotel but this proved to be good. Less furniture makes the room look spacious. I did miss my Toothbrush, Toothpaste and iron board but this is how Moxy works. No complaints as it was a value of money what you pay to stay. Breakfast spread was good with no hot stuff on the menu. Ahh yes you can enjoy your Hot Coffee and Tea though. 5 minutes away from Subway station and 20 minutes by subway from the airport . Some of the sightseeing options are just walking distance away. Over all a great experience and highly recommended Hotel to stay.
the lobby area was definitely fun with a fussball table and a giant teddybear. Check in was fine. Figured out that we had parked in the wrong garage. Once parked in the correct garage, purchased a multiple day pass according to the instructions given to us by the front desk person, but figuring out that every day you have to put your ticket in when you leave as well as when you enter was not intuitive, especially since there does not seem to be an option to put a ticket in when entering. This process was not explained well enough to us and maybe the millennial generation to which this hotel is clearly aimed just know this. The room was bare (literally) there is bare cement on walls and ceiling and the under bed motion light that is supposed to be helpful in the middle of the night may be set off by the comforter if you turn over and wake the light sensitive guest. Bathrooms were clean but the knock on the door at 8 am from house keeping to clean the room the first day was not welcome, so if you plan to get up after 8 am, ensure you put the do not disturb sign out. And considering the queen size mattresses are rock hard, if we were to stay here again we would get the room with two twin mattresses that seemed to be more like actual mattresses rather than cement mattresses.
The Moxy is a new Marriott brand apparently intended to appeal to a young clientele. The reception/common area here has a large bar (drinks for sale) and couches and chairs to sort of hang out. Upbeat music and graffiti complete the image. The room is relatively small but adequate. Instead of a closet, or any place to hang clothes, there is a wire rack with two hangers suspended from hooks. There was a small table, which was useful to hold a suitcase. One chair, one bed. There is also a light underneath the bed that seems to be motion-activated--fine, unless you don't want to disturb a partner when you get up in the middle of the night. As a traveler whose 20s are in the distant past, I found the ambiance of the Moxy not really to my liking. It was worth a try, but I won't return to that brand. (Marriott, however, has wonderful hotels in its other brands.)
The moxy concept is great, but not here. The hotel looks nice, everything is fine accept the small uncreative bathrooms in the room. I would have rated it 3.5 stars if it was not for the staff, they follow procedures and are not relaxed and when they need to be relaxed they are not, they dont care. At check in they only look at their screens and dont say much, for got to give me the standard welcome cocktail, when asked they said, its only a premade drink. And still did not give it. How rude! Then when asked for the bar bill they asked me what i had, and when i told them they started to argue if i was correct. Rude again!!! Horrible experience!
Overall the hotel is great and cool atmosphere. Rooms are clean and trendy. Bed is medium to firm but quite nice. Pillows are a bit too fluffy. Need at least two for my head. Staff is rude and not very friendly. Of the 4-5 staff we spoke with only 1 was somewhat friendly. At check-in I was greeted with a swear word to start off lol. Asked for an extra pillow and was somewhat laughed at. Asked if I had to pick up the food at the bar or would it be delivered to my table in the lobby and was told very firmly that I had to pick it up from the bar. Just a few of the interactions with the staff. Overall the hotel is great and location is great. But dealing with the staff is like pulling teeth or be prepared to get bullied lol. By no means am I someone who takes rudeness from anyone(6ft, 205lbs) but I was on my honeymoon and didn't want to cause a scene or ruin our stay.
A modern and fresh hotel, with an industrial touch. A lot of funny details and graffiti. I like. But the personnel could try a bit more. We are still paying customers, and being polite and friendly does not cost much.
Maybe this hotel is not for everybody. It is certainly not the typical business hotel. But it offers a fresh alternative. Spacious rooms with little furniture, comfortable beds, modern decor, and a positive vibe.
